  22. ahhhh... just got back... highlights 6:30pm - bail on the pub to head up to la. 8:45pm - arrive at the mayan, surprised to find not much of a line! 9:30pm - music's on, and we're in. james zabiela's on the decks, and he's already stealing the show (damn good). 10:15pm - this guy's kicking my ass. three records playing simultaneously, one breakbeat and two four-on-the-floor, and he's weaving back and forth and in between them, using only the bass (eq) knobs!!! 10:45pm - zabiela drops this WICKED SICK track, haunting female vocal sample (twisted and tweaked) repeating on every measure... "burst my skin... burst my skin..." 11:00pm - cman finally decides to show up (DORK!). also notice the place is now officially PACKED. 12:20am - sasha cameos on the stage, garners shouts and screams from the throngs of fans jumping up and down to zabiela's (now peaking) set. 12:55am - sasha returns, and plugs his headphones in the decks. begins with an hour of ethereal, atmospheric choons. 2:05am - ah, recognize that one. have no idea what the hell title/artist it is, but i-like-it-a-lot. 2:55am - cool! title track from the new lp! a funky remix at that! 3:30am - there it is! that freakin' track he's had in his crates for like 2 years, and still is unreleased!!! whether "envelope - packet" or "junkie xl - breezer", i *need* to get my hands on this fine piece of feel-good wax... ooooh, and it's a mix i've never heard before. BRAVO! 3:48am - A nice touch... sasha drops in his massive crowd pleasing production of a few years ago, xpander! with the downtown la skyline in the backdrop... what a way to end the night!!! 4:05am - off to canter's for our obligatory post-club belgian waffles (the BEST!). 4:55am - on the road again... making trek back to san diego. 6:25am - singing careless whisper (yes, wham!) at the top of our lungs, struggling to keep awake for the final stretch home. 6:38am - why the hell am i typing this? 7:00am - conference call, hehehe 6 hours of dancing and 200 miles later, i'm exhausted, exhilarated, salty, and ready for work! i love this thing called life. steve
