You know, if you can talk someone into coming there with a bunch of demo wingsuits you could call it the chicks flock!!!!!! -
The best dropzone in the world is......why?
VectorBoy replied to josheezammit's topic in The Bonfire
I was gonna vote Perris until Diablo pilot started jumping there now I don't know where to pick. -
WFFC might not be the place for quality over quantity. In fact it is the place for quantity over quality. You can get on with some good load organisers but if you seek quality personal training you may need to travel to a calmer destination. This is a generalisation its not the same for every body but WFFC can be overwhelming.

VERY lucky bastard. But like most of them I'm sure he works very hard to be a lucky bastard.

What attracts you to a drop zone?

Well, nice manered pilots to fly the planes... But seriously the whole package. People. Services: rigging, sales, coaching. Minimum bad people skygods and commanderring staff. Restaurants, bars, beds and bathrooms. Pools are nice in the summa. Jets are nice somtimes too. But no really its the aircraft, helos and balloons the cheaper the better. Who cares about how they're maintained. -
F8ck him! Let him die, not my problem, not the DZ's problem.

JP (Diablo Pilot), do you remember me telling you your canopy was too small once upon a time. Then do you remember hobbling around and me making fun of you for it?Quote Busted! I knew you usta be from the other side. -

Every time I get the urge to go jump and feel the cool air flowing by as I float through the sky, I remember that I have to go to a DZ to jump, and the feeling fades away.Quote Actually you don't, You can organize a small load of safe and like minded soulful friends. Rent a jumpable cessna, file a NOTAM. And take your urge to some picturesque location in Colorado ( or anywhere ) Just like the roaming DZ guys, but more cozy. That will put a smile back on your kisser. I think your girlfriend will like it too..... I think about it all of the time and I don't even have a girlfriend. -
Hoi Ove, You must post some pictures now of your new toys, pullezzeee. Any word on other projects or products?

Kev you are right. The suits that Jeb and Tim and Jari fly are mylar stiffened ribbed. Since I've never heard anyone at Bird-man officially refer to those suits as S-4 I don't. The only place I've seen the "long-tail" suit was a picture of Jari in a skydiving magazine. The times I've seen his personal rig at boogies its just the mylar three. I don't think BM plans to market either suit to the masses and don't know if something else, bigger, better and different will come out with the S-4 moniker at a much later time when there is the design to meet the demand. I do know those suits sport the same planform as the production S-3s, same as my preproduction or experimental back-vented S-3. To me they are all S-3s. I also know my back vents loose some effiecency over a production version but I'm not sure if the mylar adds any over the production version either. Both Jeb and Tim are much taller than myself otherwise I would swap suits for a day with Tim. I wouldn't mind trying the mylar S-3 and he is Eyeballing the Matter 2 everytime I fly it. I also know we had a blast those days while those guys were working on the Dock the 39 project and our group had a bunch of new wingsuit testing stuff going on. We about just filled up the plane with flyers, dockers and cuttaway canopy chasers. So many wings on one plane kinda reminds me of Rantoul.
-
Like Quade said. But you may find some insight from of the aussie jumpers that have experience in a very similar plane by the same manufacturer.
-
Thats Jeb Corliss in his S-3. I hope eventually that we see the whole project. They actually had a solid dock. They practiced for many many jumps across as many days to get it just right. Jeb and Tim Rigby flew close formation while other members of team extreme flew outside video in their wingsuits. There should be a lot of good usable footage. Some of us got to practice this run with him, months before Luigi received his 39, on his 46. That was fun.

I have no idea what your talking about so please get with me offline(PM) and if there is a problem it will be addressed. Well brother here I can gladly help you. And happily will. As evidenced by some posts it seems there are people out there that are not buying into the BMI structured program for whatever reason. Whether it be from some jumpers desire to just do their own thing ( and there always will be )or from some people feeling that they are not being treated correctly or that those within the structure are somehow doing a disservice to the product and take away from the overall experience. Birdman produces a product but the BMI's, who are basically representing volunteers for some meager returns on their efforts, are offering only a service and have a great deal of control on how their offerings are viewed in terms of value by the general skydiving community. It does a disservice to the other BMIs if for the most part they are viewed as attention seeking, under skilled, reproachfull or status hungry. All of the above just pushes jumpers away. It kills the unity. What needs to happen is across the board quality instruction ( I have no doubt that it exist now, but I'm not the customer to be ). Top notch organizing if its announced. And some self policing of any grandstanding or posturing. That last one has killed the vibe for some people. You have to sell the fun anything else is just a self defeating waste of effort. Don't harsh the messenger Scott, please. I just say it like it is. This is not a small local thing, I've heard it from all corners. The BMIs have a big responsibility. If the attitude is "what do I get from the course for my $300 dollars"? " Who can sponsor me"? Then maybe that person shouldn't have become a BMI. You need the person whose mentality is "what can I do to help promote the growth of some fun, safe and groovey wingsuit happenings". As there are more spare suits out there the neophytes will just bypass instructors with the first mentality and seek help from mentors with the second ideals. And the title of BMI still won't be taken seriously.
-
No one will get a "gimme" from either Chuck or myself or any of the other BMCIs for that matter. Not a doubt in my mind Scott, nor do I doubt the course is a good one. Its just that not every instructor on the new list has been evaluated by ANY BMCI. Maybe as we speak and from now on it will be the case. But while some people are gripeing that they didn't get their patch it is known that others just made a phone call to get on the list. With no eval and I'm not talking about first generation BMIs BEFORE the current program. So much for the level playing field theory. I'm not complaining. I'm not in the target demographic either way. I'm just letting you know what is known.

The only people that wear them in public in Oz are Bogans, & Westies, A lad from down under was being interviewed on the radio here and the topic of those boots came up, he wasn't very generous. Does Bogans & westies mean whores and hobos? This would be more along the lines of what the interviewee was talking about.

We are lucky to have plenty of space to play over...hell we probably have the largets dz in the world!!! Come to Swakop and you'll see what I mean. Isn't that the one that looks to be in the middle of the desert and featured in the nambia section of SOUL flyers DVD?

Low Time Jump Pilots HEED MY WORDS
VectorBoy replied to diverdriver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If we have a small jump plane or a tandem wipe out the crew station and create a cerritos style air disaster, its going to damage sport jumping in a heartbeat way worse than the hook turn fatality phenomenon that everyone cries is gonna ruin our beloved sport. This really will give us a black eye in the eyes of the voting general public. And probably effect dropzone walk on business regionally. It will also cut the AOPA's and EAA's desire to assist us in our future issues with other governing bodies. -
Just like chelle I'm a never unless you count having the paramedics pump your stomach.

Martini Shots cameras are EVERYWHERE. __ Except focused on the subject matter.

*** No.. but close! Sun n' Fun... Another EAA Air Show in Lakeland Fla. I noticed too many kneeling birds for just any dropzone.

Jim are those pics from oshkosh by any chance?

Its an on going process. But I see it taking most of my time and all of my money will into the time and money I have yet to posses.

I doubt that it is even possible to have 100% vessel deployment, Doubt it has ever happened in a full scale war. There is a lot of rotation as someone mentioned. But if you tell me that all of the boat work is done in the yards I 'll tell you we are about to enter a stephen king moment. Scarry but hardly possible. There are a lot of quack reporters out there watch out.

Technique question for 3-minute birds-low speed stability-long
VectorBoy replied to lurch's topic in Wing Suit Flying
You have pretty much answered your own questions. The results and experience you see are common when flying the slow side of the envelope. The bobbing and potatoe chipping are a result of hanging close to the stall point. Some of the monowing suits tend to fly better when one seeks more float. But I think that Robert P. designed the BM suits to be flown forward faster to achieve a better glide on the faster side of the envelope. You certainly cover more ground this way. And with some practice you may get closer to your magic 3 minutes by using this approach. Regards. -
QuoteI'm just saying what I've heard. Maybe if you bastards weren't so damn cliquey then these "outsiders" wouldn't become "perpetrators".Quote They were not outsiders, they just have other DZs as there home DZs ( nobody is an outsider at Perris ). One of the lads is local the other from across the pond, all welcomed like family. Perris is a big DZ, I mostly wingsuit and still don't know all of the people that own and fly wingsuits. I get surprised all of the time. Plus we get a lot of visitors. There are some jumpers that I know I can call up a few days ahead of time to get a flock going. Enough to half fill an otter but its just scratching the list of who owns and flocks a suit at Perris. I imagine its a similar situation at Deland or Empuria.
