Atlas II transfer with a terra-low Do you really want the weight and bulk of a dually under carriage on a 1/2 ton truck when built nines & 44s don't break. onboard welder Quote Agreed, did some welding with one of these units. They are very nice indeed. More changes

thanks to Brett and Glen for landing with my main. At that altitude (~11,000 ft.), I never thought I would see my baby again. Russ I usualy like to get a few rotations in before but chasing gear is still good fun and nobody stole my shoes, always a plus.

What you don't go back into birdy flight for a few seconds after you cut away? I've got two reserve rides in WS. 1 impropper installation of the base shrivel flap and bridle ( total ) 2 A canopy spin up and dive out. Under a good reserve by 2700' in both cases. Both preventable but it was better to cut and run with my gained knowledge and apply it on the next flights than to fight a nasty situation IMO.

We did a few jet ranger jumps down in San Diego this weekend. One in my S-3 the other in the Matter. The matter was already inflated while sitting in the chopper. It was flying right off the step instant float quicker than my buddy in his birdman. When I jumped with him in my S3 inflation time was about the same.

Nice 3-way sunset chopper jump at Herc Boogie
VectorBoy replied to cpoxon's topic in Wing Suit Flying
QuoteGuys name is Andy, and he can keep formation like a Blue Angel despite the completely out of proportion dedication to his sponsors.Quote I flew with fordy earlier this year here in Perris I would have teased him more over that helmet than his porkchops had he been sporting it then. -
The CJ's do not have fuel injection and this is a "modern" must! Quote Mine does. And I agree it is a must. Seriously If you just want an open air vehicle for the road Then it does not matter ( stay away from the CJ5 for comfortable highway cruizing, although it makes a fine rock buggy ) If you care about ride on the road go buy a new jeep, TJ, rubicon or unlimited. If you are going to off road and I mean hard core wheeling buy the rubicon. If you cant afford the new rubicon you can take any of those vehicles in your poll and Build them to the specs required for off road in true new mejico fashion. When I say build I mean just that re-build a vehicle almost from the ground up to do what you want it to. If you can't do the work yourself forget it . You will pay double what the rubicon costs, if not more. I have everything the rubicon has except the coil suspension. I did all of the work and almost have as much invested just in parts. All on a twenty year old machine. When looking at older jeeps pre 80's had truck tuff transmissions, that were just that tuff. All of the newer ones until mid nineties got nice little lightweight econo box overdrive units that can't handle "real" off road abuse. You can and will change those out. Its actually cheaper to reengineer a new heavy duty drivetrain than to buy a replacement econo tranny from france. Stay away from the toyota FJ40 unless its got the chevota upgrade. Thats right a chevy engine to replace the easy to destroy weak in line 6. Even if you get the rubicon you will invest in tires and a lift from 2k to 4k depending on what you want. IF you know what you want. Its just a question of money how slow and steep do you want to go?

The new PAC 750XL will be assembled in Canada in 2005.
VectorBoy replied to ypelchat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Do you guys think that there will be a lot of the PAC 750XLs in the field? Is there a great demand for the ship? Just curious myself. -
Hey what about his bum neck did he just up the medication?

My impressions of the suit used in Crosswinds
VectorBoy replied to LouDiamond's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Its intersesting that the zippers to the openings for the main lift web and laterals go up to the collar on this suit and the Matter 1 & 2. But down to the waist from the opening on the new S-fly, Hmmn? I also noticed that there were no airlocks on the wing inlets on Omars suit. -
Sorry will be bird'n it down San Diego but you may wanna do some CReW with the Crazies for a jump on your B'day. Its Crazy CReW weekend girl.

Tell us more about this birdman movie.

The duck joke.

You young ladies or the organisers of the event should contact Jari at birdman to bring his wares down......... Then you can call it the "chicks flock"!

Some people end up hesitating on the pull due to difficulty in reaching their hackey. Some rigs ( I've heard people say as an example, wings or the mirage G3 ) are too short for some longer torsos and can make the hackeys harder to reach. Mirage now makes the longer G4 as a result of requests in this regard. Another example that I've personnaly experienced, and Bill von talked about in his matter review, is on the monowing type wingsuits when the body portion inflates enough to lift your rig up off of your back a few degrees putting the hackey at an awkward place to get and deploy. It happened to me on several flights on my Matter 2 once enough that I had to go into a style tuck to deploy. I deployed at terminal... whatever terminal is in a wingsuit style tuck. Now I just keep them leg straps tight and the hackey is right where its gotta be.

Jake we all know your not balanced! Congrats on the BMI looks like you had a blast weekend.

Da weekends flying - back flying and cloud surfing
VectorBoy replied to petetheladd's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Lightning really couldn't do anything, as you're not grounded in flight. That's what I'm telling myself, anyway. -
Why is it that some people with 500 jumps can't yet land their canopies? (No need to answer that one..) Yes and these same people are giving canopy flight advice, Back to the subject. I purchased an old classic 2 from the BM demo fleet. You could tell it was used and the leg wing was starting to tear I didn't think it would last long. Three years later and putting a bunch of students on it and loaning it out to people without suits, that suit had very little additional wear even though its got hundreds of jumps on it mostly from low timers or new timers......... That is until one jump two months ago. One jump, first flight, botched landing and now that suit has more damage than all combined. Its not as bad as some of the student jumpsuits but its bad in my book. For the most part people are very carefull in new wingsuits and are very greatfull of the opertunity to try one and maybe put some extra jumps above and beyond the FJC. How someone lands their regular skydive rig has not been a concern of mine, and I really should be thinking about other things related to a students first jump, until now. Someone tore one of the new matter demos putting it on before it had ever been jumped effectivly taking it out of the summer boogie season. * For the lurkers one day hoping to jump a wingsuit* Take care of the suit you are renting / borrowing. They are expensive, they are expensive to repair. The costs of demos and rentals will go up. In the case of factory demo fleets abuse will cause the price of the purchase products to go up in order to maintain that fleet. In the case of the boys who let you play with their spare toys.... they just won't.

Ya shoulda seen Lou n that suit...LOL He does have a purty mouth -
For everyone who has always fantasized about having sex in public, but was too shy to actually do it - this is just the ticket. Heck, you could make a fortune renting it out to couples for short periods. Yup until party boy from jack ass ( or an impersonator) comes up and rubs his nub on the glass.

Yes Gia, I plan on comming down there and know of at least five other birds that will also. -
I think you guys are starting to confuse the names and purpose of winglets and vortice generators Dr whitcolm ( spelled something like that ) came up with the theory behind the "whitcolm winglets" that are those cute little and sometimes big vertical wings extending up from the tips of wings. These block ( only portions ) of the wing tip vortices and must be mounted on the wing tips. Vortex generators create them to keep the airflow in the local area attached sometimes helping hold back the oncomming stall or keeping farther down the cord for a longer period. Vortex generators can be found many places like on the leading edges, or up to 25% back from the leading edges, of wings vertical or horizontal stabalizers. Check out the engine cowls on the DC-3. Look around they are everywhere.

My impressions of the suit used in Crosswinds
VectorBoy replied to LouDiamond's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I will hang onto this suit becasue it is fun to fly and it is a piece of wingsuit history. I will post pictures of it when I get back from Florida in a few days. Do you own this suit or just borrowing it Scott? You mentioned that Omar's suit has vents on the back, can you elaborate? Can't wait to see the pics. Have a blast in Florida. -
This discusion started because I've seen bad things out of previous rep programs. THis one is working so far. That and someone decided to slam L&B because they don't have "reps". Quote Actually they do JP. I needed a Protac serviced and contacted the home company. Their reply was to send it to a florida repair ( or replacement ) rep. The service was great and I had a new one in two weeks but it wasn't free. The cost was 35 bucks and well worth it to me. Since you deal with manufacturers everyday your mileage may be different than mine on customer service. I'm not complaining I think both companies are good but not everyone gets Carte blanche.

Or put both Neptunes and the Protrack on one jumper and see what happens...Good idea, we'll have to try it soon. I fly with two neptunes and one protrac and those are very representative of the figures I get even with latest software. Sometimes the neptunes cut the free fall time very short for wingsuits but still log the speeds well into the flight. Hopefully neptune will get some fine tune on their software in the near future.
