  6. Celebration of Cinco de Mayo This year is the 142nd anniversary of Cinco de Mayo, the holiday commemorating the victory of the Mexicans over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. Cinco de Mayo pays tribute to the strong and independent spirit of the Mexican people and draws our attention to the rich cultural diversity and significant accomplishments of all Hispanic Americans. Americans cherish our deep historical, cultural, economic, scientific, and, in many cases, family ties with Mexico. As such, Cinco de Mayo is a reminder of the heritage we share with all our neighbors to the south, and the great promise these ties hold for the future.
  7. I do love tequila.... Buck Edit: For stupidity..
  8. Bill, I'm not condoning torture either. I was just making a candid statement pointing out something I think is relevant. Truthfully, isolated instances of "abuse" are a given in the particular situation these GI's are all in. There is a pychological term for what they did, I just can't recall it right now. On the other side, the Iraqis kill or injure their POW"s...... It can/will be America's downfall if the media continues the "over sensationalism" of these few random acts. I remember when I was a 20 y/o in the military.... Young, dumb and full a ____. Again, I definitely don't agree with what they did, but I DO understand it...... Buck
  9. This was great news! Also goes to show that the Iraqis weren't being nice captors to a civilian. ie. gunshot wound. Buck

  15. I'll wade in these waters I guess. I flew jumpers as a private pilot. This was back in the 80's/early 90's. Before starting, I actually called the local FSDO to inquire if this was legal and they said, "yep, as long as your NOT earning money, no problem." So, with that being said, I started flying jumpers (C-182) with a grand total of 90 hours in my logbook. And had an engine failure on my SECOND LOAD @ 5,000 feet in the descent. (Matter of fact, that C-182, N5827B is flying somewhere up in Washington state) Can a private pilot with 91 hours handle an emergency?, you bet. I deadsticked it back on the DZ, no problems. (FYI, it was a "fuel flow" problem, not fuel exhaustion. Today the FAA views that as illegal. But, I logged over 1000 hours flying jumpers as a private pilot. Best shit I ever did. Fun, exciting, and learned a ton about short field, high density altitude takeoffs and life. But, that was a different era and a different mindset at our DZ. Things and times do change..... Buck
  16. My Brains? A three year old boy in his bath examined his testicles and asked, "Mommy, are these my brains?" Mom said, "Not yet, honey."
