So, today I receive a job offer from the FAA in Oklahoma City. I've thought about living in a lot of places after I retire from the Air Force but, NEVER Oklahoma! Anyway, after 22 years of active duty I now consider retiring, taking the FAA job..... Is Oklahoma City nice? What's the best DZ, how close...How's the cost of living...etc..etc..? Oh my god, I'll have to wear civilian clothes to work!!!!!!!!

Ok, today someone asked me, "What would have been the Columbia's indicated airspeed (if any) @ 200,000 feet?" Ok, you pilot/physics/meterologist people, I know one of you shall render the answer......

I'm not an SF type, but I am a military oxygen equipment expert that's been on many a HALO/HAHO (now coined High Altitude Airdrop Mission Support...ie HAAMS) missions. Now, as jumping from 39K, (that's not far from the truth), I'm not gonna mention opening altitudes.......But, to really roust him, ask what type of equipment he's using to include what type of oxygen tank(s), helmet, and oxygen mask and did he have to prebreathe long! Gotta get rid of that nitrogen in the body..........That'll get him...

you know i love ya..........

"Are you in the military?" __________________________________________________ Why does being in the military have to be a question? Yes, I'm in the military, proud to serve, still on active duty for 22 years, and that has no influence on my personal "views" regarding the the Middle East. The military does not, and never has started a war. Only civilian leaders are in position to give orders, and order the military into harms way. As far as your original question/response goes....(and I'm sorry for my lengthy response), I agree with you. Wish we'd sit this one out for a while, and see what happens. But, if we go in on a "first strike" as you say, I'm in, totally commited, hoping to have a steady hand and good aim.

"I'm not sure when this "face the Alamo" crap came in, but it's sure not from the distant past." __________________________________________________ Not from the distant past? Try at least from 1986.......It's a Texas thang!.....Of course you are absolutely correct on facing west, first 8-way......etc...etc........

The "best" SCR ceremonies are in Texas! Face the Alamo...........

so i guess next for you is Colonel right?

Jim rocks. He's not only a great pilot, but an awesome DZO!! (Of course we know who the boss really is). Did Jim West ever fly out in San Antonio?

officially the "coriolis position".....any stimulation of 2 out of the 3 semi-circular canals in the inner ear, induces a false sense of motion in the third canal. you wind up with a what can be described as a spinning or tumbling sensation......... but cool stuff anyway! A form of spatial disorientation....So, you got some time on your hands i see!
-
ok, let you off this time.....Nice job BTW.....

Muchos graciasss.......

(The ONLY time that declaring should get you a request to call the tower or some otherwise odious FAA request is if you actually cause them grief -- like maybe if you have an engine failure over the top of LAX, declare and shutdown a runway.) My views exactly...I was 23 NM from San Antonio, outside the TCA (at that time), and was in no ones business.. Kinda funny, there I was in a glide, and they were asking me to take a phone number down to call the tower! I explained that I was a lil busy just then.... Didn't have the NASA forms back then either....or at least I don't think they did......
