  1. Speaking for myself... Shaved, but kept clean... If shaved is a choice, it needs to be followed by maintenance. Everyone knows that the 5 o'clock shadow is ruff... one week later is fine. Now someone pose that same question to the girls re: guys... Chris
  2. Actually Dacron, in addition to "giving" a bit, absorbing the shock...also tends to slow the descent of the slider because of a bit more friction on the slider... 6 0r 1/2 dozen... Dacron will make the opening or quick deceleration feel more comfortable... Chris
  3. I was there, (but you knew that...) Don't tell anyone, especially my boss, he thought I was at work! Chris
  4. Fun, very fun again... Thanks Jason and all of my good PR friends. Thanks to all who jumped the demo canopies, I appreciate your patience... I think everyone finally got to try the canopy they wanted. And if there is a better place to fly BirdMan suits, I haven't found it yet. (Some day we'll all fly our suits from Vieques to Humacao!) Chris
  5. Of course he's a rigger, that's why he had me install it... I want to learn the business and I figured if I could do this, he'd sign me off for another packjob. Nice piece of equipment, but the ad doesn't show the battery connection... quite the wiring! Once installed though, I've got to say... Noice! Chris Enuf power to drive a hybrid car from Perris to Eloy (or hop up one of those scooters!)
  6. Are you freakin nuts? asking people like us... (see attached photo, that's outa one socket I split 4 times before it arrived here...) If it's upstairs... that means radio = Stereo system (see attached photo). Gotta have a bigscreen up there for the guys to watch the game (see attached photo). Gonna need a blender to make girly drinks when entertaining (see attached photo). Add the magic fingers gizmo to the heated waterbed (floor not rated for the weight, but hey, look at our wiring...see attached photo). If he makes it a reading room, no problem, but if he's talking about making it his lil hide-a-way, well (see attached photo). Save time and just ducktape another run of romex to the wall running up from the breaker. Gonna be huge demands for juice in that party room! Chris
  7. Rapid(e) links are metal links. Both do an excellent job on main or reserve. Ask your local gear sales/rigger types and you'll hear differing opinions. But the only important part is they both do an excellent job. Chris (I prefer soft links, unless I have to change canopies to risers often... then I love Rapide links!)
  8. Here's what I did... (after i got it out of the river...) If it's only a few (less than 6?) months old... it's covered by warranty... Don't tell 'em, you soaked it overnite with your dentures though. I gave mine about 2 days to dry the best it could, took it apart, removed case and battery. Then took the guts and did short burst in the microwave... First a few 3-5 second runs on medium... then got braver and was up to 20 second blast on high wattage... (I did see one or two little flashes from with in the guts... that indicated mission accomplished.) I then reassembled it and walked into the Verizon store...said it quit working and asked how long the warranty was on my new phone... they replaced it and I voiced a little concern about it going out so quickly. They assured me that they would warrant the replacement for a full year from that day... You won't believe it... same thing happened the next canoeing season... kinda like a constant upgrade period. Last one was a newer model too... no charge. I do have a spare I'll send you, I forget how I got the free extra. Chris
  9. How many jumps... sounds like a very old canopy...
  10. Uh-oh... I'll be there in 4 days! Chris Precision
  11. geezus... I was gonna say go for it... But looks like I'd be out voted here... (never stopped me before, soooo...) Go for it. Chris ( ya got a significant other to watch over ya?)
  12. My second favorite country is Mars. This is why I strongly support exploration. But, like everyone else, my favorite country is Earth. Just look at all the fun inhabitants. Many of the ones I know like to do things like gravity challenging events. Most of those think they can fly in a gravity that is measured on Earth 1.0! ... oh sorry... I thought you said planet... Chris
  13. How do you know that? (Why does everyone make high alti in the early am!) Chris
  14. ...actually at my dz I pay... 5/head... to train (do video, waivers, and bout an hour training after that... we do a level one sorta skydive... exit, COA, prcp, geek etc... 5.5 waveoff, student pulls). 25 to person who hauls 'em. 25 to rent outside gear (or 25 for amortization of our own gear). 10 for packing Total paid... $65.00 to the guy who dose it all... 40 for 2 slots on the airplane... $105 gross cost for my DZ... (gross... now subtract lights, rent, advertising, etc...DAMN, the phone just got cut off again!) How do people do $99 tandems? Chris
  15. My payload is simply based on my weight, as it may fluctuate 10 pounds over the year... soo.... 500lbs...(gross weight with vector or strong a few more with another rig) less weight of rig...~50 lbs, less my average weight ~165 lbs leaves a typical max payload of 285 pounds up front... I prefer less (and prefer cute young girls who think I'm Superman, but I'm also very happily married, so the other guys usually get them.) Chris (and I usually get paid $25 for the jump.)
  16. Actually that is (almost) his number, you have to change one digit... i can't remember which one it is... Chris
  17. Tennessee to New Orleans, grab a few cold ones and back... On my 1982 Suzuki glz650... one tired... ASS! (just over 1200 miles... considerably less that 24 hours)
  18. Lost an engine, located a new one, flew out, rented U-haul truck in Colorado Springs... up to Denver, loaded engine and started driving... Colorado to home... 1427 miles in 21 hours (1.5 hours sleep and shower, 19.5 drive time)... had the new engine flying loads the next day... Gotta keep 'em jumping! Chris
  19. wow... a twinbo spinner... wanna sell it? (am i right...T-bo?) Chris
  20. .... I was worried something got by me in the diaper days... The diaper is a marvelous development for round canopies... greatly reducing the rounds natural desire to pick up a lineover... Where does the term "Death-" diaper come from? Chris
  21. Then you would be an "employee"... let's send some of your's to uncle sugar... you have expenses as a business person... use them. Chris Y
  22. WHAT!?!?!?!??? Free bag on a round? The diaper makes a round survive opening in most ...do I say, more modern systems.... Chris age does not determine airworthiness, condition alone determines airworthiness...
  23. We've experimented with crossbraced tandem. Is airlocked tandem a possibility? Chris
