  1. Is this a serious question? 30 sq-ft difference and you're wondering if you'll see a performance difference?? I just tried out a Crossfire2 159 yesterday, and I usually jump a Nitron 170. It was in a completely different ballpark. I know it's a katana, but a 30sqft drop from any canopy to a xfire will be noticeable to say the least. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  2. I ordered my Freak n' Suit in parts, the pants first and then a jacket about 4 months later. Together they were still less than $300 and I love them! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  3. Call me crazy, but I can point out a few differences between my V3 and a live underground roadside bomb "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  4. It's a tough thing to get over a first, I did it a ton. The biggest thing is leaning "back". Not so much leaning back, but being straight up and down at your torso. It's just a balance thing with the amount of force you apply downwards with your feet to not fall backwards. Just keep it up and you'll nail it soon enough! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  5. Just got mine friday! Fully loaded: skyhook, mag riser covers, 3d spacerfoam on the ENTIRE thing, padded stabilizers, spectra ripcord, louie loops, etc etc Put 4 jumps on it this weekend, comfortable is an understatement!! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  6. Ever heard of an analogy? Simplest does not always equal best. In cars or containers. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  7. Still in school, huh? Wouldn't it be awesome if it always worked that way! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  8. As an aerospace engineer myself I think you're slightly retarded. Do you know what your rsl does? All it does is pull a pin (or 2) right? Do you know the time difference between a pop top pc clearing a couple flaps vs. a vector/mirage pc clearing 4 flaps? Very little if any right? And what does a skyhook do, just pull a pin? Or does it bypass several steps of a normal reserve deployment? Quit trying to use your education as a pedestal. I'm just as educated as you in the same areas and what you said makes zero sense. No education needed for that conclusion, just common sense. On that subject, my brand new V3 just arrived today! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" 9. They just got their new engine and prop too! Now there's 2 overhauled Cessnas in the state! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  10. Out of curiosity, and I'm too lazy to look it up, how far apart are they? "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  11. I think you can see that it's completely biased. Daniel Connor is most likely a jumper and/or staff member of one of the dzs, probably Skydive Long Island. You think... Genius What's your point? He asked how unbiased it is. Stupid question in my opinion because it obviously isn't. So if pointing out the obvious makes me a genius, why thank you for the compliment "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  12. Then what? "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  13. I can assure you an empty can won't cause too much trouble "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  14. For the KC, Mo area I know of MRVS, Skydive Kansas City, and The Kansas City Skydiving Center. I've never been to any, just throwing out names.
  15. marcantonio isn't the jumper who experienced the out of date AAD's. The OP did, and he's in mexico. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  16. On jump 34 I rode an inflatable whale "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  17. Awesome keep it up! And by the way, it's called an AAD not ADD. It stands for "Automatic Activation Device" "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  18. Yeah I think there's a bit of miscommunication. When I said that earlier in the thread, we were talking about accidental misrigging. Since then the topic has kinda changed to intentionally rigging it backwards. Sorry for that, if it's intentional then yeah swapping out lines would be pointless "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  19. I can and have done my last 250 jumps without one. That's not what I'm saying. I mean that most rigs have a specific side that the rsl riser is intended to be on. You can just switch the risers around, as I said above, but it's a better idea to rig the damn thing right, don't you agree? I'm not exactly sure where you interpreted that as "Do not go one jump without an rsl!" "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  20. Well, I think you can leave that one alone. Your AAD however, I'd make sure its on But what do I know, listen to your instructors first "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  21. Well ~ I have about 7 times that many jumps and stayin' at about 1:1 is what I consider 'under-kill' ...as in, over 33 years in the sport with no broken bones. I know the OP of this thread ... This is where things change. You know him, you know his canopy abilities, you know he doesn't swoop. In that case, if he came up to you and asked the same question, you'd reply just as you stated you would. But it's a totally different scenario when you don't know the individual. If I was an accomplished swooper, minding my own business packing my rig and someone I had never seen before walked up, said they had 500 jumps, and asked about packing a velo, I'd say the same damn thing. Would I ask the guy if he's swooping or flying straight in approaches? Hell no, that's not what the velo is for. I think its natural to assume anyone holding that canopy is proficient at swooping to say the least. I would assume that he has only 500 jumps and is so new to this discipline that he doesn't even know how to pack the canopy he is attempting to use. Now that wasn't the case, but I can sure see how he saw it that way and I would respond the same exact way unless more information was given. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  22. Welcome! I started with 2 tandems as well, it's a great way to get introduced! Do you by chance know the brand of AAD? Anymore, every kind is pretty reliable. Many models require servicing every few years during their life. This in no way means there is anything wrong with the unit, it's just a routine safety check. Now it is never guaranteed of course, but I wouldn't let it bother you on your jump. The NOW message does not mean the unit has more or less chance of operating as it was designed to. If you're curious, have your instructor show you the reserve packing card for the rig. It's a great way to learn about reserves, repacking cycles, etc and it should tell you when servicing is due on the unit. Good luck with your jumps! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  23. My 1st canopy was a spectre 210 loaded a little over 1:1. About 75 jumps I got a Pilot 188 loaded about 1.2:1 and I loved it. That's a pretty close example to your situation. I'd tell you to go for it, you'll notice a difference but it won't be big. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  24. I think you can see that it's completely biased. Daniel Connor is most likely a jumper and/or staff member of one of the dzs, probably Skydive Long Island. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  25. True some do. But most are designated one way or another. I've jumped an older Talon with the rsl ring on the wrong side before, but only a couple jumps. One thing is for certain, ALWAYS perform at least one good continuity check on any main that's been modified. I've done my own 6 or 7 times already and have managed to put a twist in one or both risers on one side. The twist is pushed down to the bottom of the risers, but the thing had to be disassembled and fixed. The best way to check is by hanging the canopy up. Hell, hanging it up takes more time than the actual check once it's up there. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
