Thanks for the help so far..... The stern talking to have already been accomplished by everyone who has already given up on him. (Is this a sign that I shouldn't waste my time??) As far as his attitude, I guess it's just the way he presents himself and his general interaction with people in general, (conversion is definately not his strong point, nor is respect for anyone other than a few) not only skydivers. I really don't want to publish examples. Once agian, "As the prop turns" crap, but an issue non the less. I'll give it a shot at coaching him with skydiving, but can I change his character?? we shall soon see. Any thoughts or ideas??? I guess the endstate of what I'm trying to do is to get this young man to become a more skilled skydiver and become more of a man than a teenager at 22.

Okay, here's the situation and I'm looking for helpful advice from folks...... Got a young jumper here that causes personal conflicts with everyone. General concensus is that his attitude and mouth are going to get him kicked off of the dropzone. I hate seeing anyone being kicked off. It's not that he is unsafe, but it's his mouth and how he interacts with other jumpers, prospective tandems and students. I know this is some "as the prop turns" shit, but I think that the kid is trainable to become a good skydiver. He just past his C test and is interested in starting to work video. However, none of the tandem masters here will agree to work with him. Not because he's unsafe, but because of his attitude. He has already been talked to by the senior instructors, S&TA, and the DZO. Is there any point to me taking him under my wing and trying to coach him to be better and change his character, or am I wasting my time? This whole situation is about to get out of control if someone doesn't do something. I would like to work with him before it turns into a blacklisting from our DZ. Do ya'll think I should make an attempt, or should I just let it be and let him find another dropzone?? (would hate to see him being pawned off on another zone, just to create more problems there.) Any advice is greatly appreciated....

had a Sabre2 150 packed in a Dolphin D-4 (cut for a 220-225) Like dren, I shortened the closing loop a bit. it packed nice since the canopy was brand spankin' new, but I only test fit it for future purchases. smallest I've had and jumped Same dolphin with a Sabre2 170. Nice fit, had to shorten closing loop a bit from my pd 190, but it fit and performed perfectly.

Yep, heard it, sung it, did a 15 mile beach run to it! (damn near had a heart attack to it!) There is nothing better than getting 50 of your good buddies together at 0430 for a sunrise beach run. (yea, right!) AD, I'm not sure of the original origins, but I'm pretty sure that you are correct. I think that some of the "Old Timey" jodie songs stem from either gospel backgrounds or big bar room brawls. "Give me that good ole Marine Corps Spirit" It's the "heat" when the guys are down and de-motivated.

Yep, Lou was right, the search will provide a wide base of discussion. I'm working out the kinks for my system. When I have it done I plan to post pics and detailed info for others. Only problem is that it is taking a lot longer to develop than I originally planned. Gotta be safe, yet effective.

I had an amazing weekend!! 0:17:70 million 0 - nothing happening! 17 - many things accomplished this weekend. most will be listed in 70 million. did get some camera work in and some hop n pops. 70 million - Okay, where to start......got my DZ.com shirt in the mail. Got the long sleeve. (nioce!!!) 1st intentional cutaway. Had to have it for Tandem course. Went through and got my Strong rating this weekend! WhoooooHOOOOO! Finished all of the required course items and this coming weekend should be a lot of fun. Man what a great weekend. We had beautiful weather in NC for five days in a row! No beach jumps this weekend....I was to busy packing and jumping tandems...next weekend for sure. I'm still pretty jazzed about the tandem course. I owe so much beer it's just going to be cheaper to buy a keg!!! (forgot to add that I got an Orange County Choppers T from my mom and dad for a birthday present. Dad and I love that show!)

I don't know if a CH-47 will fit 40, I've jumped 46's which are the scaled down version of the Army 47 (46's are the Navy and Marine Corps versions) and we only put 12 or 14 in, but of course that's with combat equipment and military rigs are twice the size of normal parachute rigs. I would imagine that you could probably squeeze 28 to 34 people in there. I just hope that bird doesn't leak hydralic fluid like the 46's do. Any one jumping them, what out for puddles on the seats and floor! We Marines have a saying when flying in 46's - "If it ain't leakin', don't fly in it. No leaks means it's out of fluid!"

I know that a few dropzones have or are starting a wingloading restriction according to experience level. I think that it's a good plan. But, education is the key. Good mentoring, good coaching, and the more experienced people helping out the newer crowd will build solid foundations for friendship and skill building. 1.2 with just over 500 jumps.

0:6:1 0 - SO had to work, so no dropzone lovin'. 6 - did 2 on Saturday, and 4 on Sunday. Broke the 500 mark with a hop n pop (damn weather.) 1 - case owed for breaking 500. I'm gonna hold off on the case until the weather improves and more people come out to jump.

My wife decided that she wanted to jump AFF. Great I said, but she had only done two tandems and was scared out of her wits from those. Solution - take her to Pigeon Forge and put her in the tunnel. So we took a four day vacation, spend about 2 hrs in the tunnel, first I let her work with one of the staff members. She didn't respond very well to him, so they let me work with her a bit. I had her hovering at two feet and doing 360's. It worked great! The only problem was, when she did the actual jump, she let it freak her out. She was able to recover and eventually got through her AFF. She did a total of 18 jumps (9 AFF, and the rest two ways and solos) and then quit. She just wanted to do it. Moral of the story, yes the wind tunnel can help! But combine the wind tunnel with a coach and it can give you a definate advantage. Nothing can replace the real thing, but items like tunnel time and a good coach definately help. Just my .02.

.....flag that you have witnessed being displayed while under canopy? Personally, I've seen a 33' X 65' "Ole Glory" under canopy. Anyone seen or jumped any bigger, or is this the largest on record????

Okay, here is my story from a post I read. Why NOT to buy a JVC stlye camera..... 1. No D-Boxes avail. I had to custom build a box out of fiberglass and carbon fiber. It works, and looks good, but two weeks of resin and sanding had made me loopy. 2. They are cheaper than Sony. Yeh, and you pay for it latter when the service technitions F*(k your camera up and says it's fixed. 3. They have all of the features. No, they don't! If you are getting a camera, get a Sony. The LANC port option is the best. It will allow the use of a Cam-Eye, where JVC won't. Try turning a JVC on in a box with gloves on at 11,000 when it's -32 deg F. Now the story of what happened. I started shooting a tandem vid 2 weeks ago. The display said "Entering safeguard mode, remove and replace battery." so I did, put it back together, and it worked fine. Get on to jump run, I turn it on, same shit. Luckily it was a long jump run and I got everything to work just seconds before the exit. Took it into Circuit city for a service plan. Got it back, put it back together, and went to do a tandem vid for practice to check everything out. Now, the damn thing won't even come on. It powers up, but the display is black. Now, I scratch from the load, pissed off at my helmet, and start working my camera. I finally get it to come on, start recording and it says it has excessive moisture and requires head cleaning. Man, now I'm really pissed! I work it some more, and finally get it working. I can record and everything. Whew, I fixed it. Good job right, wrong! I start recording ground footage, and now the damn zoom and snap shoot buttons don't work. F$%^!!!!!!!!! Now none of the control buttons work! That bitch is going back for a full refund tonight!!! Long story short, If you want to video tape skydiving, don't mess around with anything other than Sony!!!!!!!!! Just my rant. Sorry!

I second the motion to use the PVC flexiable sprinkler hose as the base. Add a line connnector to get it together. Agian, I triple folded the base edge and used two types of stiches to secure mine. (wife has a fancy-dancey sewing machine.) I first stitched with two standard staight stiches, and then used a chain stitch in between the two single stitches. For the seem travelling up the tube, I folded the tube inside out, used a single line stitch, folded it right side out, and chain stitched the crease to one side. For the top edge, I also triple folded and repeated same stitches as the base. On all of the other "demo's" that I had made, I only double folded and they still frayed. For the handle, I used tubular nylon. It worked really well. Plus it's easy for most non-industrial style sewing machines. The first tube I made was 18 ft long. It was SCARY! (Wish I wouldn't have made it out of OD Green material.....Damn.) It worked well but had issues. The second model was a patch work and it shredded on deployment. (I'm a sewing jackass!) The third one worked well, and is still holding together after about 15 jumps. It's bright blue and 8 ft long. I passed it on to another jumper after adding lettering and some easy graphics. He loves it and has put about 10 jumps on it.

0:7:0 It was a beautiful weekend on the beach. Winds on Saturday were really nice and got 5 in. Did some coaching work and a tandem vid for a good friends wife. She went from "Hell no I won't jump!" - "Maybe when it warms up."- "Okay, let's do it." A couple of guys came down from CSS and did some beach jumps. I missed out due to coaching. Winds were good on the beach and the sun bathers (chickas in bikini's) loved it. Got two on Sunday (HnP's) before the winds started kickin' up. Already looking forward to next weekend. Night jumps scheduled, beach jumps a must! No beer owed! (that's a first......damn! now I owe beer!!!!)

15:3:1 15 - number of times the US Coast Guard called to make sure that all jumpers were accounted for after a beach jump. No Kidding. We've been jumping the same spot, same beach, same landing area for three years. This is the first time they ever cared. I guess it is attributed to the 200 plus calls from the tourist residents to EMS that made them respond.--- EMS---"911 what's your emergency?" resident---"ya, I just saw four guys bail out of an aircraft and they landed under parachutes at the beach. I think I saw the airplane going down somewhere near the airport??" EMS--"Okay, we'll get right on it." EMS--"US Coast Guard, Us Coast Guard this is Oak Island Emergency, we have a report of an aircraft in trouble near the airport. all occupants except one bailed out over the beach and landed in the ocean." CG- "Roger, EMS, we're on it." 3: weather kind of sucked with low clouds. I did get some cool four way action and some vid work. Thanks for the four way Ron and Isabella. 1: number of frames constructed for the new hangar. All in All, another good weekend. I got my beach jump in! That's what counts!!!!!

I started after MFF school (came with the job.) I didn't actually know how much fun could be had in the sky. Back then it was put your ruck on, sit on the plane, button up your O2, stand up, fall out, flat and happy with no turns, please don't touch anybody, and stay 50 m hort. and vert seperation from everyone under canopy. Then I met another skydiver who took me under his wing and coached me for about 25 jumps. Now I consider myself to be a fun, safe, and all-around decent skydiver. (RW, Vid work, and working on some CrW this summer!, tandem course is right around the corner.)

Fandango!!! "Okay, so you wanna be here, but you don't want to be here so you'll go out in a modified frog man position and open here but you want to be here and then when you land you'll be here, but you really wanna be here like this, ....got it!"

Good to meet ya' Phil and Ray. Did the four way with a guy from Myrtle Beach. Good to meet ya' Sam (?? I think.) Beach Jumps rock!!! Perfect winds on the beach this weekend.

Okay, here we go agian... (I'm always getting older gear and needing manuals.) A good friend of mine recently took a "layoff" from skydiving after 15 years. [He had some issues with a low hook and busted himself up pretty bad.] He gave me all of his gear to play with. So here is the situation... I now have a Centarus container with a LoPo round (27ft I think) and a Prodigy 225 for doing some crew training. I have recently acquired a square reserve and want to change it over. However, I don't have any packing manuals and my local rigger is not acquainted with this style of container. (I'm not scart of rounds, 86 SL military) I've looked on the manufactures website and they don't post their manuals for download (NAA.) Does anyone out there have a Centarus manual that they could scan in, or know a website where I can download and print a manual from? I've done the search, to no avail. Can anyone help me out???
