  1. Her: When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  2. You say restraining order like it's a bad thing! I bet girls look at porn.....but they just don't want to admit to it. I mean really! Look at all the sightssites, it's about one sightsite per guy! fixed it for you.. sight: what a person sees site: what is on the internet... Look I don't care who told you, but dictionary.com is not a pono site! So how is looking at shoes and hand bags porn? Bono is a member of U2 But of course. It all makes perfect sense now! 3. So basically youre trying to burn your house down Mythbusters tried that a few years ago & couldn't do it. So, you gonna accept the challenge? When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  4. I actually really like him. No one is more shocked than I!!! You should be shocked. Regularly! Without warning! To keep you on your toes! When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  5. Most other boards I used to participate on, I was "dbdartman." DB being my initials (& what I currently post under elsewhere is *DB*), & at the time (1997) was building my 1968 Dodge Dart. The dartman name is pretty well known in the Mopar on-line community (also well-hated by a few). When I registered here looking for some old friends I still haven't found (Ricky "Rickster" Powell & Sue Sweetman) I figured I'd keep the name simple & just maybe someone from the waning days of Lakewood would remember me. BTW, if anyone has contact info on Rickster or Sue, could you please PM me! I haven't talked to either since the late 80's (yes, I did see both their names in the Dec/09 Parachutist). 6. So, removing the leisure suits from my closet 10 years ago wasn't a good thing? When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  7. Let's see... First, in boot there was the blanket party for the dud(e) in the bunk above me. What a thrill it was to awaken to what felt like an earthquake, surrounded by skivvies & a forest of legs. Then there was the time someone infested the enlisted quarters on board ship with pubic lice. I lived off base for mental health reasons. 8. Window pane & Mexican food. The combination boggles the mind! When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  9. Tat doesn't make sense because before Obama 5 of the last 7 presidencies were won by Repbs. Can't we say the opposite is true, keep electing R's and maybe the debt will get fixed? In fact, all 5 R terms had the debt significantly rise and the 2 D terms in the middle had the budget baalnced; doesn't that more fit your insanity model or continuing to do the same thing, expecting a diff result? If you honestly believe those accounting tricks actually created a real, honest (like you & I musty live by, not what politicians in DC live by) REAL "balanced budget?" I'll bet you think illusionist Cris Angle actually flies because you saw it on TV. "Balanced Budget" Are you REALLY that gullible (rhetorical question as your constant parroting of party propaganda proves this almost daily)? Accounting trickery & illusion caused the problems that swamp us today, & you post as if more trickery & illusion (what's being promoted in Congress today) will save us. "Acting/reacting the same way and expecting the results to change: The definition of insanity." Thank you for proving the point. Your propaganda inspired responses undermine your position better/faster than anything else. Oh, & thank you for the laughs. I needed it this morning. When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  10. Sure. I could argue using facts to show you where you are wrong. I could also try to drag a dead mule. I would have more success with the latter. Or you could just go and find some assertions I refuted and try to refute mine. Hey, I thought the rhetoric mess was over between us, are you gonna go back to trashing this place or can we keep it substantive? Refer back to post #27. I'm not sure what's funnier, these continuing rants, or the fact that lucky keeps saying "Republicans are evil, Democrats are good", or the fact that he actually believes that? 11. Check the cable connection at the dish, then follow it into the house. There should be a splitter/amplifier somewhere between the dish & the TV. If this splitter has a line that plugs into a 110v outlet, it's the old style & could be the problem. Mine was replaced with one that doesn't require 110v on the suggestion of the tech. He said if it's 5 years old, & it was, it's bound fail sooner or later so we may as well replace it now. Thinking about it now, this is likely the cause of the weak signal. Wish I'd remembered this earlier... When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  12. Isn't that like asking if you would prefer electrocution or lethal injection? Isn't the result the same? When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  13. Don't play with your food! When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  14. Yep. Enjoy. When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  15. Learn from my $50 mistake a couple months ago. I whacked the dish with the mower. I have the older system (all black box says "HUGHES" on it, not the later black/silver box, but should be the same). MENU/SYSTEM SET UP/SIGNAL When you get there move the cursor to "TEST" & hit "SELECT" (or ENTER) on the remote. The system will now test all the signal strengths it is receiving, accompanied by a rather loud beeping. That sound is the key here!!! Using that sound, you can "adjust" the dish yourself (the better the signal, the faster the beeping). Hope this helps! When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  16. Sounds like you really enjoy being around this guy, you just don't feel comfortable being the entire focus of his attention. When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  17. No. Politicians want wield power through staying in office via re-election and trading favors. Keeping campaign donors happy helps. The appearance of doing things which can be described in sound bites helps, especially when those things are pain points getting media coverage. Actually fixing problems does not help unless it fits into one of the previous categories. Actually fixing problems would leave less to legislate over and make it harder to get re-elected. Drew, I think we agree, completely. Think about it: You can't treat the symptoms without side-effects. Basically it comes down to priorities & after a few decades of observation, I see MOST politicians' priorities as such: First & foremost: Get reelected. 2- Don't get caught. 3- Reward family, friends, & supporters, but... 4- DON'T GET CAUGHT! 5- Listen to your loudest constituents. 6- DON'T GET CAUGHT! etc., etc. SIG's (special INFLUENCE groups) & lobbyists exert way too much influence on legislation. It SHOULD be criminal, but that's asking the fox to guard the hen-house (oh wait, did I just describe this entire legislation...?). You can imagine when THAT will happen. When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  18. Hopefully, he got a good briefing from Capt Sullenberger on how to do water landings. care to explain that one to me?
  19. It's gone... When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  20. The flight attendant didn't take too kindly to my request to do the same about 10 minutes south of Newark a few years ago. Hey, I was only trying to save myself a 1-hour drive... When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  21. Alligator Gar...'cause they're mean, ugly and really hard to kill! Between the bony scales and the cartilage, even the the gators and otters leave them alone. They cleaned out some local streams of the game fish, so we started popping them when we got the chance. A .22 irritates them, but something a little larger fixed their problem. Oooo.... Sounds like fun! I am: When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  22. Congress is chock full of lawyers. I'll bet there isn't 1 paragraph addressing that issue. And there, folks, is a major portion of our problem! Like doctors, who's on-going training is via TV commercials, politicians want to treat the symptoms & ignore the cause. Something like 9 out of 10 or OUR representatives have law degrees. Don't know about you, but that thought has always made me feel "oh so secure" because they can use "lawyer-speak" (double-talk) to make spending "just a little more" or take things "just a little further" & make it look to you & I like greatest thing since sliced bread. When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  23. Used to see a guy driving his cycle, in a wheelchair from the side car, back in the 80's & 90's. When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  24. I don't suppose there's anything addressing the out of control litigation costs, is there? "Health Care" (doctors, nurses, hospitals, technicians, laboratories, laundries, janitors, everyone involved in patient care) is boxed in. On one side are insurance costs (malpractice insurance is outrageously, obscenely expensive), on the other is lawyers (ready to file papers at a moment's notice driving insurance costs up). Seems each already has it's voice in congress, so who can be looked to for help? The taxpayers, that seems to be who. Who is our voice? Congressmen & women, representatives we trust to be our voice but who seem more often to be the voice of special interest lobbyists. Seems easier to influence the taxpayer representatives than it does the lobbyist's, so we get yet more shell-game legislation, the root causes of the problem go ignored, & certain segments will undoubtedly gain great wealth while the taxpayers are left holding the bag (IOU's) again. Nope, for "real reform" both insurance & lawyers are going to have to give up money and power. Guess when that will happen? When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
  25. No, it just stops the rear wheels from driving forward while the fronts are trying to stop. An old OLD trick everyone driving an auto trans car/truck should learn & apply, IMHO! On modern cars/trucks a simple push of the automatic trans shift lever forward, or up, will cause it to shift to neutral, & ONLY into neutral, so there's no fear of engaging reverse unless you also pull/push/turn/depress a button, or in some other way manipulate the shifter first.
