Yeah I asked my instructor about that, he essentially told me what you just said. He said to just keep it conservative and I should be alright. The 230 is pretty big for me, I can stand up my landings without much difficulty in no wind conditions, even with it being an older F111. Kinda one of the reasons why I'm sticking with a wing loading of around .75 is because I'm wanting to get into BASE once I get a good number of skydives logged. My instructor is a BASE jumper and he said it would be good to fly a big canopy so I'll be used to the flight characteristics when it comes time to get into BASE. I don't really know if theres a whole lot of truth behind that since I've never flown a BASE canopy, but I took his word for it.

So the dzo asked me if I was interested in buying one of his older student rigs, its a 1995 Dolphin with a 1995 Tempo 170 and a PD-230 main. Also has a Vigil with a DOM of May 2006. The container has had a bridle cover installed, new bridle velcro, and the riser velcro is still in excellent condition. The container was also washed about 2 weeks before I bought it and its been less than a month since the reserve was repacked. The main was also relined with microlines not too long ago. Paid $2100 for it, I didn't think that was too expensive. I figured $1100 for the rig and $1000 for the Vigil. The main isn't the greatest, but its so easy to pack.

I'm 18 and made my first jump about 4 months ago. I only earn minimum wage, but I work really hard 6 days a week so I can spend it all on 1 day of skydiving. Plus I sell whatever I can find laying around my house or garage on ebay.

I have the worst seasonal allergies, but its never affected me when I skydive. My sinuses clear up once I get a good 2 miles away from any kind of plant life. Then I get back on the ground and my nose starts running everywhere.

That would kickass, does this race have a name? I drove in a couple land rover rallies about a year ago but not anywhere close to 5,000 miles.

I kinda like to pack, since the c182 takes like 20 minutes to get to altitude it gives me something to do inbetween loads. Of course the navigator I jump is fairly easy to pack, its still pretty slick though since it only has about 40 jumps on it....and seems like the tighter you hold it the slicker it gets! I started packing for myself on jump 17 and all my openings have been consistent on-heading openings. Love the navigator, thinking about getting one for my own rig later.

These damn things got into my kitchen this spring too, I have some of the little traps but they don't really do a whole lot of good. I'll have to pickup some of that stuff

This text message circulates around every single year. I remember getting it for like the past 2 or 3 years. It never happens. If we all started riding bio-diesel mopeds that got 80mpg then that MIGHT have some effect. For now I'll stick to my civic, it gets 45mpg.

I used to get pretty scared on the ride to altitude, but it subsided a good bit at about jump 10 or so. I kinda miss it because it always made the ride to altitude feel "shorter" I guess. Now the 20 or 25 minute ride feels like forever! I get more nervous now when I pull and it feels like it takes longer for the parachute to deploy even though it hasn't really changed.

Sheesh we're lucky to get 10 loads in with one c182 -
Might also be a good idea to stay away from dairy products, don't really need those churning around inside you. But yeah don't drink caffeine, it will make you more nervous and jittery.

And I thought my student progression was going slowwwww! I also started thanksgiving weekend, static line student though. -
All of my skydiving dreams have involved me losing altitude awareness. Never lost it in real life though.

A week ago or so, I had a dream that I was in town and this giant asteroid was bearing down on me. It struck and everything turned red and caught fire and I was killed. Then I remember going up...up...up until I was finally facing god. He was just as you could imagine, big white beard, sitting on a really large bright and shiny throne. He said You can go into heaven!...then I looked down and saw hell and woke up a few minutes later.

I had a ball python when I was about 8 or 9, I named him Julius Squeezer by the way he killed his food.

I'm at full altitude now 11.5k, the past 3 jumps I made have been from full altitude. -

I was wondering about the difficulty of AFF compared to static line, since I am a static line student. It seems like the first few AFF jumps are easy for the student, but when they go to jump solo for the first time there is some difficulty. I've never had any problems with spinning, but some of the other S/L students at my home dz are having big trouble with it. I think my biggest area of difficulty came from the hanging exit out of the c182. For the first couple jumps (IAD) I was having a tendency to push off the strut, putting me on my back. Even now I'm shaky coming off the strut. Then I learned the superman exit and its easier than the hanging exit in my opinion. -

Haha Duel was great, a buddy of mine sent it to me after he heard that my daily driver was a plymouth valiant. They did pretty good showing how slow it was! -
I would definitely but I don't think the weathers gonna be any good!

Txting is ok, but sometimes someone sends me a txt and I don't receive it until like a couple hours later, or even the next day. I guess that comes from having sparse service in a rural area.

How far do you drive to the DZ each weekend??

150 miles, about 2 hours. Then another 150 back home.... -
I think I heard him telling his cat "I wanna see a good hard arch!!" I also heard a rumor that hes going to make up a rig for his cat....complete with a round canopy. I don't know...thats just what I heard... And maybe the cat wanted to jump....I've seen cats jump off some pretty crazy stuff
-
I used to want to jump a round....but after watching those landings I don't think I want to anymore!
