  1. I dont mind brisk as long as I dont get whip lash or break lines or something....
  2. I just bought a sabre I 170 since it was such a great deal I couldnt pass it up. However, I keep hearing this business about hard openings. Is this really cause for concern or just irritating and occasionally painful?
  3. Fear is normal in this situation. Just know that there is nothing you can do once you leave the plane. So you might as well enjoy. Panic is definitely the last thing you want to have in a bad situation. Fear is good. It lets you know you are still alive. Dont stop jumping that gives into the fear. You are better than that right?
  4. I have seen news about a new tunnel in philadelphia going up. According to the website it was supposed to be open late in 2007 but either their site has not been updated or its not open yet. Anyone hear anything about it?
  5. Haha I have a Honda S2000, completely gave up on the car hobby when I started jumping. Im even looking to sell my S2000 to get something more practical and cheaper on maint. If you are going to keep the Cold air intake, make sure you get a bypass valve to avoid these things in the future. By the way I have had 2 eclipses a 92 AWD and a 96 GS. Both great cars. Never let me down. Hope you enjoy it when you get it fixed!
  6. Enjoying life is the most responsible thing you can do. Assuming you have bills covered
  7. Planning on doing my graduation jump and maybe my low solo on friday. Should I bring a case of beer to celebrate with the guys at the dropzone? Not sure about the customs on this kinda thing. I definitely see these people more than my friends though. Or would a bottle of gray goose maybe be better? Blue skies and wish me luck! -Jay
  8. From what i remember there is a bus that comes from philly and stops within a half mile of the DZ. not a horrible walk from there i suppose Look up NJ transit it will help. I was looking for a way from my home but unfortunately i live too far from convenient public transportation
  9. Arching definitely helps with the instability, followed by being relaxed. I found myself a bit unstable on my first jump but it became better as i progressed. Just arch and relax and it will come easy, once you are out of the plane there is nothing you can do but hope for the best. so relax and enjoy and it will be much more enjoyable
  10. I work as a server as my profile would suggest. Anyway I have a couple of regulars at my restaurant that fly a balloon, as this is something that interests me too I started talking to them about it. They have apprently done skydives from above 6k so perhaps you could call one of the bigger ballooning outfits in your area to see what their experience with skydivers is.
  11. Haha i have a shirt that says exactlly that
  12. I agree with ^ my mom has never jumped and shes not a whuffo. My mom and I are very close and she started off hesitating the idea because it is a bit more risky than say playing chess. She will be taking me for a jump over christmas time in AZ and at least pitching in for my first rid! So id say thats a perfect example.
  13. Hmm forgot to flare on my 2nd student jump too, was flying a 200 and I only weigh 140 out the door so it was still a relatively light PLF
  14. Was just curious on how often everyone does a PLF. I wanted to gauge my progress as I am on my 9th jump with 3 out of 6 jumps PLF and the other 3 a nice stand up landing. Hopefully i can manage a good landing for my graduation landing. only time will tell!
  15. I personally just started and only have 9 jumps in the last 3 months roughly. I work only as a server, I am also a student going part time and have already spent well over 2 grand in those 3 months on jumping and expences related to it. For me it is a feeling of complete freedom and the rush only seems to become greater as I learn new things
  16. I jump at cross keys in williamstown NJ, it is near 295 off of route 42. I have had a great experience so far with 9 jumps. They are very supportive and friendly people. the number is 888-855-5867 if you want more information
  17. Seems like an interesting idea. Sounds like fun but seems like it has a lot of factors to consider for safety sake.
  18. anyone know any other shops in the Jersey area other than at cross keys?
  19. Cross keys is where i started jumping as well. Too bad conditions have not been the best as of recently. Seems like its either too windy or too cloudy when I go. 2 Trips in a row with only 1 friend doing a tandem jump. Anyway maybe ill see you around.
  20. I just wanted to introduce myself. I started jumping August 15th of this year and have just completed level 4 of AFP. I look forward to meeting new people and having some fun! -Jay
