I know a lot of people who don't use them. They generally open pretty low or just don't care to have one...One of these people is also someone who doesn't have an RSL set up... For me personally, I jump with one because my mom paid for it. She doesn't understand skydiving well enough to know exactly what the good and bad are with one, but it gave her peace of mind when I told her what it does. I made sure she understood it wasn't a guarantee, but it might help. She at least doesn't start crying every time I go out to the dz now. ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

:7:2 Two of those jumps were my first very scary, very cold night jumps. From the Otter, I was looking down at the "dropzone" at night. They're like, "see those lights? That's it." I'm like ok...but I didn't see it. I figured I'd find the dz once I got closer to the ground haha. I did. My first jump was a solo as required. The uppers were blowing hard...and I couldn't penetrate the wind. I came down far away from the lighted landing area. So....um...I couldn't see the ground when I was coming in. I crashed into the ground really fast onto my face. Thank god for my full face helmet. I thought I broke my hand. It hurt more than anything I've felt in a long time. My second night jump, was a 4-way with friends. The view was so pretty and peaceful up there. Then under canopy, I turned into the wind way before I normally would, and blew backwards fast. I didn't make it to the landing area AGAIN, but I stood my landing in the dark!!! ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

Mine was under canopy the first few times. I'm a heck of a lot more comfortable now. The only time I get a twinge of real nervousness hitting me is when a cross wind rattles my canopy. It's an unsettling feeling, but it keeps me alert at all times. That's my only real hang up... ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

I was born and raised in CO, and then my dad was transferred to Texas. I love Texas, but it's NOTHING compared to my home... I hope you have a lot of fun back there.

Point taken. Why is evidence and logic the acceptable way to convince someone something is true? Isn't it really just a way grasp some kind of understanding of our world, existence, etc? How can that be your basis on "proof" ??? Logic is just a human coping mechanism that can be just as flawed and circular as anything else... ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

Fair enough in that regard, but what about outside a court system? That's a pretty narrow perspective. You're view is only derived from a chosen political theory on how to be fair in society. I'm wondering about a larger scale... ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

This can be the same in science too. Just because you see a cause and effect relationship over and over--doesn't equate to evidence. It could be coincidence over and over in your lifetime. Consider paradigm shifts...obviously our "evidence" may not be correct, so we readjust our ideas regarding them. Just as you say someone may see the flower as evidence of God doesn't mean it is just as much as someone looking over an oceanic horizon assumed someone's ship sailed off the edge of the world...So how does something as flawed as "evidence" prove existence of God or the lack of such thing...??? I know my ramblings don't make a lot of sense, I'm just trying to understand why such weight is placed on evidence in either realm...? Personally, I see evidence as Faith just as much as their Faith is their evidence. ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

I don't understand why they have to still be "present and breathing." Maybe you can explain this a little more for me please. I'd like to think that an eye witness is present and breathing at the time and place of what they're witnessing...but not necessarily OUR time and place. I'm not disagreeing with your reasoning. I just think I'm missing something in what you wrote. ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

There is definitely room for improvement for mine...depending on the instructor. I felt ill prepared for some things. However, if you make the effort to find out, there are plenty of very knowledgeable instructors to ask. I'd rate mine a 7-8. ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

I'm sure the cause of pain might be different for certain jobs. However, I know the stress and long nights a highly educated person in a high income job causes some serious pain. I'm sure it might not seem like a big deal to most, but constant stress and lack of sleep can really deteriorate health and cause long term pain. ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

The fastest I can get is 130 when I'm wearing 10 lbs of weights. Without weight, about 119. My average is 118. ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity

Disadvantages or Advantages to being small??

...or shove you between two tandems in the caravan even though your group is first out. I'm 5'4" and 109 lbs. You'll be fine when you get your own gear. I used to use the sport rig when I was in AFF at my DZ. It held the only sabre 150, but the dang thing fit. Be safe and have fun! ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity -

I'm a world class sucky skydiver, so the L.O. put me next to her in the door so we could stay together since I'm really floaty. When I left the plane perfectly with her and the others, she yelled "good job!" I totally heard her...even through my full face helmet. We were nowhere near full speed yet though, so I guess that doesn't really count. ~Nikki http://www.facebook.com/poe62 Irgity Dirgity
