  1. The bowlers front foot was over the line when he released the ball, making it an illegal delivery which he has to bowl again (as well as a 1 run penalty being given). And in T20 and ODI when you do a front-foot no ball, the other team can have a 'free hit' meaning that if you bowl them, get LBW, catch them etc they are not out. They can only go out on a free-hit by being run out, so it gives the batsman the ability to swing as hard as they can without fear of being caught. Luckily the 'free hit' ended up not being hit at all!
  2. Wasn't it beautiful! I loved each and every second of it, okay I lie... I was pissed off at over 10 of the NZ innings and then with the last over to go I was tapping my leg uncomfortably. And that no ball on 19.6! So lucky to escape from that! Now on to the ODI games from Saturday where I will have to wake up at 2:45am, worth the pain though.

  4. It seems that there has been an active effort by scammers to try get a better scamming conversion rate. Up until now they would typically use very generic writing in their original response and their replies, but it seems the replies have become a bit more developed and they are starting to sound as though they may actually be skydivers. There have been several scammers of late who claim that their rigger will come and collect the gear for inspection after they have sent the cheque. And they have even referenced which dropzone they 'jump' at, and there was even one that managed to put forward a USPA license number (which belonged to someone else). While they have managed to figure this out, their English remains fairly bad and that can still be used as a tell-tale sign. Look out for basic spelling and grammar problems that you wouldn't expect from an English speaking person, especially when the buyer claims to be from a primarily English speaking country. It will remain good practice, especially in cases like these to call the dropzone that they reference and see if the DZO knows the 'jumper'. This is usually where their scams fall apart. In short, it is no longer safe to assume that if a buyer gives you a license number and a DZ name that they are a legitimate buyer. If you suspect at all that they may be a scammer, follow up with the dropzone and make sure. Though these cheques that they send are almost always for a larger amount of money than the product and also remains a big alert that the buyer is a scammer.

  11. Haha. I approve of this tasteless, un-classy and disrespectful post.
  12. This user is using several nickname variations of "Patrik Evan" - if you receive any mail from anyone with the name, ignore the e-mail from them. I have disabled the 3 accounts related to this user.

  14. Hrmmmm $1000... Between a plane ticket to Norway or Alberta and a telescope with DSLR mount. Either way it would revolve around photography.

    PUB!!

Okay guys, I've taken a look at the old chat app and it really was old, and as such it needed to be exchanged for another chat application. They are both embedded IRC clients, but the new one should be a better chat platform. With that said, it has a banner ad on it from the provider of the client, so even if you're a premium member here you'll see an ad on the chat app. But I figure it's better than having a broken chat application sitting there that doesn't work. Feel free to give it a try, located in the usual spot: http://www.dropzone.com/pub/ Simply click on the chat, enter your dropzone.com username and connect. It will then take you to the dropzone chat channel. So for those of you missing the chat, hopefully this helps.

    PUB!!

I'll gladly be that person! Should have access to the file in the next day or so, and should be back up and running soon. Just for info, we use an IRC chat client through the page. These chat rooms can also be accessed via programs like mIRC. www.mirc.com - Download, install, connect to server irc.esper.net and join the channel #dropzone - That will be the new server details for the chat.

Sangiro wasn't in today but soon as I find out where this chat file is located on the server I'll fix it up.
  19. Ah yes, ignorance is a funny thing. The reason why pathetic decisions are made are because of people who think it somehow makes sense to read half way through something, see it is not what they want to read and draw a conclusion based on what they actually want to believe. Though I expect nothing less in this case, history repeats itself. It's so cute when people have hardons for politicians and refuse to see them for the flawed hypocrites they are. And that goes for both political parties followers.

    PUB!!

Yeah, the live chat was something that pretty much died along the wayside, links to it should probably be removed. Man I wish we had a developer here again that could get a new layout done and fix up a lot of this old stuff at the same time. Live chat these days, with IMs and FB is pretty much dead. If there was a demand for it, I'm pretty sure I could setup another IRC chat room in place of the pub in a few seconds though. Well, 'fix the pub' as it were.
  21. Censorship is a nice term since soon as someone reads it they think "Oh God, how oppressive! Censorship is wrong!" It's not censorship, it's called moderation. There is a difference. We don't seek to oppress opinion, we do not moderate what people say, but rather how they say it. And that is never going to change. We require people to act somewhat civilized on the forums, and if you want to post here, you're going to have to show others a bit of respect, if you disagree with something, sure go ahead and express your opinion. Just do it in a way that isn't disrespectful and rude. If someone posts something you disagree with, and you reply saying: "I disagree with that because ...". There will be no moderation, but if you had to reply with: "You're wrong, you're an idiot." your post will be hidden for breaking the rules, that's not censorship. It's quite simple, if you want to post here, follow the forum rules. The rules are hardly even strict, you'll find many forums this size will be far more strict and make off-topic postings and swearing a bannable offence. Luckily the amount of people that moan about censorship is very small. We don't hide posts so that it will be nicer to read for you and all soft and cuddly. Posts are hidden when they break a forum rule. I think it's highly appropriate to block them from view. In fact vast majority of large forums completely block or delete an offending post altogether, I am a user on numerous large forums and I am yet to find one that gives the options to display hidden posts to regular users at will or tries to make the moderation of the site bend to the will of those crying 'censorship'.

  23. I think I may have originally misunderstood your request. But looking at it again, I don't quite understand. If you are looking at the gear page for a category, for example: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?g=Main_Canopies%2Findex.html;d=1 You see a list of ads with images attached (small camera icon) When you are in the ad itself, the images are visible there. There is no need to go back to view them. The images are shown in moderate sized thumbnails on the top left of each ad that has images. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=121433;d=1 Like that ad for example, with the image shown.
  24. Concisely, and well put comparison.
  25. Some of the fielding positions are difficult to remember haha. But most make sense. Slips - The guys next to the wicket keeper relying on the balls to slip off the outside edge of the bat. Silly Mid On - Position very close to the batsmen on the on-side (side which the batsman's bat would head if he took a generally swing), usually wears a helmet. Named silly because it's a dangerous position. Cover - Think a 2'clock position. Long on - On the on side, and far away from the batsman near the boundary. etc Most of em are actually pretty self-explainatory :P Though they caused me more problems than anything else. Yeah the different spins used on the ball can get quite confusing haha. Yeah people often overlook how dangerous cricket can be. Seen my fair share of blood and dislocated limbs watching it haha. 140+km/h ball to the body can hurt.
