  1. I'll indeed willingly pay more for US labor than I will pay for foreign labor because it's worth the extra expense--that's my sacrifice per the OP. Since you've reverted back to your normal strategy of "putting words in my mouth," I'm through corresponding with you in this thread. My assertions stand on what I've already written, and I've only answered you this much for the entertainment of other readers. Bye-bye for now
  2. Hmm. Point finger and blame. Nasty selfish people want the government to spend thier tax dollars more effectively. I didn't hear anyone say that. Did you? Where? Reading comprehension problem? Not sure what you mean by that part. Read the thread. I've heard some ideas to voluntarily pay more. Those of us who belong to the half that pay income tax would like it to be spent more responsibly--if that concept requires a better explanation, you wouldn't understand it anyway.
  3. I call that a "cultural shift" that occurs over time when any society fails to provide a legacy of good values, like a work ethic, for succeeding generations. I don't bame the young anymore than anyone else; they are reacting to the environment we created for them. I would just like for more Americans to put some effort into reversing this downhill trend. Sometimes all that an individual can do is to try to set an good example.
  4. Amazon agrees. Damn that makes me proud! OK, I won't let it go to my head.
  5. When I lay pedro off, I'm gonna hire an American, taxpaying business guy w/ several American-made tractors and a number of employees that work on the books. Yes I'll willingly pay more.
  6. I'll sacrifice Pedro, my illegal immigrant gardener, and pay a little more to hire an American citizen. Most American citizens don't want Pedro's job. Those that do want a lot more... And most Americans aren't willing to pay more for American labor. Two sides of the same problem that's drasticly reduced our ability to generate income tax revenue to fund our government.
  7. I'll sacrifice Pedro, my illegal immigrant gardener, and pay a little more to hire an American citizen.
  8. And who could be more qualified to make such an objective observation? More evidence that we are becoming less of a "land of opportunity" and more of a "land of entitlement."
  9. And yet...they just keep making money for me. And yet...iShares is still under the Barclays banner!? And yet...I own Blackrock shares too so it's a wash.
  10. The idea of profit-taking right now is indeed tempting. I think all sectors are eventually in for a shit-storm, so I'm only holding short-term, inflation-hedge/protected, and interest-hedge debt.
  11. It is a global company operating in 50 countries and is indeed headquartered in London. For my money they offer the best management of funds that invest in US debt.
  12. The GOP usually obliges. I'll just be glad for the liberals to find a new target for their hatred 'cause they need some new material. And I think it will be good for them to exercise their imagination a little more.
  13. So, French or even British then Liberian? You boys are soooo funny! I'm gonna laugh all the way to the bank. My T-Bills are up 1.37% today for a 52 week high while the US stock markets had their biggest one-day loss in over 2 1/2 years--the S&P 500 down 6.6% today. Smart investors know that the US is still one of the best credit risks in the world in spite of our president's false threat to default on our debt. Fear-mongering for political gain.
  14. Even if they did, these folks are smart enough to hold their assets in trusts, the management of which is assumed by the survivors w/o a taxable change in ownership. Even many middle-class Americans do this--it works for me.
  15. It shouldn't be any more expensive. You need to account for all the money that's being saved on heavy metals and lead. I've already done the math. Think of all the income tax, property tax, and sales tax that these American workers could afford to pay back into our system. Higher prices of these products would be a bargain.
  16. I'll give up cheap, imported manufactured goods and start paying more for US workers to make these.
  17. We might be able to get Jeb Bush to run for office in 2012 Sure, why not? He couldn't be much worse than any of the rest of 'em.
  18. It's shaping up to be a bare-knuckles fight--B.O. against one of the worse presidents in history. Now that he has a record of his own, can the new kid make it two in row? Pass me the popcorn.
  19. How did you manage to stir-up all the Bush haters? Is Obama running against Bush again?
  20. Both good! Or how about the "Hope to Change Presidents" tour? Can we get back on topic?
  21. Did I say it is not stealing? What is your problem with permitting others to speak for themselves? I suppose that if you were respectful enough to do that, you would not be a stereotypical liberal. I suggest that you are so emotionally underdeveloped that you cannot permit yourself to ponder the ideas of others. If I pointed out that "acceptable" is subjective, would you know what that meant? Just because it is acceptable to you doesn't mean it will be to others. Do your parents know you're using their computer? I think we're done here.
