  1. Did you hear our President's recent speech in which he proclaimed that we will "compete with China?" Has anybody noticed how the Chinese are living? Evidently this is the new standard of living for Americans, with or without organized labor. Maybe that's what the OP meant by "race-to-the-bottom-wages."
  2. Play that victim card! The tired cliche' "union-busting" conjures up visions of club-wielding bullies. Could you be any more dramatic? Organized labor's adversarial posture and portrayal of an employer being the enemy has caused many a factory to relocate.
  3. The more different canopies you try, the better your final choice will be, and the longer you will be satisfied with it.
  4. I'm still waiting to get my trickle from the stimulus package.
  5. Because they are American citizens and deserve protection just like the rest of us? Because they already pay way, way more tax than the rest of us? Because our ability to outvote them isn't a good enough reason to screw them even worse? Because a policy that punishes successful people is unAmerican? Because the 50% of households that pay no federal income tax might be a better source of revenue? I dunno--you tell me (I'm sure somebody will).
  6. Seriously, I'm wondering if your body position has been marginal all along, but "slightly non-symetrical" has now been amplified to "problematic" by the quicker openings with the larger PC.
  7. If you only get linetwist w/o the wingsuit, why not wear the wingsuit on every jump to prevent this?
  8. Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FD2I8OqbS0#watch-vid-title There's a thread in here somewhere on the subject, but the video says it all. And yes, this technique does work very well.
  9. No, but helping to pay down the debt will enable our government to borrow still more and raise the balance back up again like any other revolving line of credit. But not to worry--the economy is gonna come roaring back like it always has, and the next generation of Americans will be brilliant enough to solve any problems we can create (or so I'm told).
  10. By continually misquoting me, you've precluded any possibility for rational discussion. I'm outta here.
  11. If you were reading my posts, you'd know better. Behold the expert. It must be really frustraing that there is nothing you can do other than rant. Good luck with that "victim thing."
  12. The real irony is that you pretend to know something about my working career and my union membership. Yeah, I got mine and it's nothing close to what most people would want. As far as change goes, it was time for that about 20 years ago, but our union leaders stuck to their guns and took us right over the cliff. I had saved enough money to finance my own retirement, so I volunteered to give up my job 7 years short of retirement age. The good news is that by doing so, some younger person with a family was able to keep on working after the big lay-off which wouldn't have affected me. And I'm not even gonna' get into the screwing I got from my brethren on the way out. Now exactly WTF do you know about me?
  13. "Capitalistic paradise" are your words and your issue, not mine. If you have no point to make, it's unrealistic to expect me to make one for you. I'll substantiate my own assertions, not yours.
  14. In 25 years of union membership, my experience has been that the unions are systematically destroying themselves, just like the rest of middle class America. Their effort, like yours, in assigning blame and vilifying others has not been productive. But good luck with that "hate thing" you got goin' on there--you're really pretty good at it.
  15. You haven't given labor unions the credit they deserve as an important part of the capitalistic system. Safer working conditions and better pay evolved into the post-war era even at a time when the government had much less control over private enterprise.
  16. Do you have an example of a pure capitalist country? Did I SAY "pure capitalist country?" Do your own research and make your own assertion.
  17. Maybe because he's about one click farther left on the political spectrum than are the Republicans. More amazing though is the Democrats' response when he's called out on this: "The Republicans did it too," or "they're just as bad as we are!" And they're also pretty close in the degree of damage they have done to the USA. How anybody can support either party is beyond me. I can already hear those keys clicking.
  18. ***Isn't the USA's system an AMALGAM of capitalism and socialism?*** Ding ding ding! We have a winner.
  19. Providing a service, like educating students or delivering the mail, is distinguished from the production of goods, but I expect the definitions of capitalism and socialism can be debated endlessly. Subject to "collective or state control," by your definition of socialism. More, less--what's the difference? I'm not sure that a society is disqualified as capatalistic just because it has publicly funded schools or military. But one that uses taxpayers' money to enhance or discourage industrial production and that rewards or punishes these producers certaily has accepted a degree of socialism and does indeed practice the redistribution of wealth. Edit for spelling.
  20. You might earn more credibility by addressing them directly. The real irony is that you don't seem to recognize that the takover of GM and the subsidization of oil companies, agriculture, and ethanol production are examples of "state control over the means of production," and that you don't consider these acts, which economically favor or punish specific groups of people, to be redistrubution. edit for spelling
  21. It's a fallacy to think that you'll ever be 100% in control. That is self-deceptive and will actually cause you to have less control over yourself. It's not the repression of your subconscious, but rather it's acceptance that will lead to greater self-awareness, hence greater control. The paradox is that once you admit that your subconscious has some control over you, you can learn from your subconscious and begin to develop your conscious in a way that will minimize this dilemma. A person's state of "emotional health" or "spiritual development" is defined by the degree to which he consciously accepts his subconscious or by the balance between these two behavioural forces.
  22. You take this two-party system way too seriously with your need to identify everyone as either a Republican or a Democrat. A rational person wouldn’t try to assign GOP membership to someone just for disagreeing with President Obama’s ideology or his job-performance. George Bush and the Republicans are assholes? OK—I don’t disagree, but neither does that make me a Democrat nor does that in itself defines Barak Obama in a positive way. Evidently you’d be too threatened to allow anyone to define their own political beliefs, but rather insist that they fit into one of your two neat little red or blue categories. Maybe Republican and Democrat parties alike are corrupt and self-serving, and you just can’t step back far enough to see that. Have some Kool-Aid.
  23. Sweetie, I'm nowhere near liberal enough to be a Republican, but thanks for taking an interest in me.
  24. Because they keep electing blue politicians who continually expand the federal government's tax-and-spend redistribution system and never seem to realize that bigger government = more opportunity for abuse. Good luck with that. It would serve you better if the feds never got their hands on this in the first place. In a more wasteful and corrupt manner, they are only duplicating many services that could be performed by states. Or maybe they're just smart enough to make the best of a corrupt system that's imposed on them. And no, I'm not a Republican or a Democrat.
  25. That's why I'm glad to jump a Javelin. While it's prudent to design one product to offset the possible defect of another product, I can't agree that this issue is created by the H/C mfr--the failure of an AAD to cut the loop is still a failure of that AAD. It really doesn't matter if we agree or not.
