Mmmm...never heard of negotiating a subpoena. You can go to the Judge and enter a Motion to Quash (asking the Judge to invalidate the subpoena). But negotiation? Nope. You are either entitled to something or you aren't. A partial answer is a wrong answer. Not sure where executive privilege comes in when the Whitehouse knew nothing about the program. I'm not a fan of Executive Privilege in ANY administration. Yes, you are the President. You are also a temporary employee of the People of the US. What was all that stuff about transparency a few years ago? I've always been a fan of going with honesty and letting the chips fall where they may. If I screwed up, tell me so. I will not do it again. If I didn't screw up, there's no need to hide it. I know this rule doesn't necessarily work in DC. That's why I avoid the place. Honesty may be the best policy, but it's not the policy of any administration I've ever seen. Semi- random thoughts... I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

It seems to have become the replacement for legitimate debate and honest disagreement on issues. I just looked at the edited and unedited clips of Romney that have started controversy. I don't think all the controversy was warranted, but I think Andrea clearly edited things to create a deception. I think she has proven herself untrustworthy as an objective journalist. Just my take. The larger issue that bothers me is this: Throughout the presidency of George W. Bush, people who disagreed with him attacked him on a personal level and pretended he was stupid. To my knowledge, none of them had degrees from Yale, MBAs from Harvard, had flown jet fighters, had run major businesses, governed a state, etc. Feel free to disagree with the man, but pretending he is stupid because he doesn't agree with you tells me more about you than it does about him. I look back over the presidents we have had. I can't find one that I consider unintelligent. I may disagree with policies, philosophies, etc. They might make blunders in speeches or social faux pas that get placed in the limelight. But I don't see unintelligent people. Ms. Mitchell's (MSNBC's) piece just tells me they have a political agenda and are willing to make baseless attacks on anyone who doesn't share their agenda. Disappointing, but not surprising. My question is: are we capable of civilized debate in order to make things better, or are we doomed to school-yard name calling and distortion of facts? How does anyone consider this beneficial? Please don't go partisan on this (fat chance). All sides are guilty of it. This is just the example du jour. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

What kind of influence the tandems have on skydiving as a sport?
davjohns replied to Skyper's topic in The Bonfire
Oddly, I don't consider it an extreme sport. When I get out of the aircraft, I hit an tremendous sense of calm knowing I am completely in charge of my destiny. Every little movement of my body makes a difference. It centers me. My wife did a tandem a couple of months ago. She said she wasn't nervous. Her view was that lots of people do it routinely without injury. How dangerous can it really be? Made sense to me. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Do most people do a tandem first? I was airborne qualified with the Army, so I didn't want to go out strapped to someone else. I went into AFF. Indiana - Citizens may use deadly force against illegal entry by LEO's
davjohns replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
I had the same comment when this came up before: If someone busts into my house illegally and places me in fear of death or severe bodily injury, I can shoot them. It should not require a special law that allows me to defend myself if they happen to be LEO doing something illegal and placing me in fear of death or severe bodily injury. The burden is on the person who plans to break down my door to make sure it is the right door; make sure they have probably cause; make sure the warrant is clean; announce who they are and what their legal authority is to bust down my door; etc. It should never be my responsibility to ask for credentials from the person who is invading my home and pointing a firearm at me. Moving story about WWII Veterans arriving at Reagan International. Made me tear up. Whatever your socio-political persuasion, you can't deny the incredible sacrifices of that generation. http://www.mullerover.com/2012/05/23/what-honor-looks-like-the-flash-mob-at-gate-38-of-reagan-national-airport/ I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Although learning a woman's preferences by trial and error can be interesting, I always thought observing her 'self help' techniques could be quite educational. Kind of a 'call a friend' lifeline technique. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I see all rhetoric in this thread with no actual facts. I see people saying what the legislation is about without quoting it or providing a link. Why hasn't the GOP won this 'war'? Don't they have the firearms? Villification of those you disagree with (regardless of your affiliation) isn't debate. It's just schoolyard name calling. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

This should make it safer for the government to crush protesting students with tanks. Unarmed civilians are so much easier to massacre. Dan: Finally ran a google of 'killed by shotgun" http://www.reflector.com/crimerescue/autopsy-landlord-killed-shotgun-1079729 Headline reads: "Autopsy: Landlord killed by shotgun" http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2844641/posts Headline reads: "‘Man killed by shotgun’ in Leeds park" I agree that it is wild, but I notice it too often. Imprecise and ambiguous. Was it the Tel Tec or the rapist's "compact package" the had the impressive fire power? While I admire twisting words for comedic value, the pronoun 'he' can only refer back to 'John Rich;. It can not skip John to reach back to the 'rapist'. Now, I admit that one could read the second sentence to reference John's 'package' rather than the shotgun, but I avoid describing other men's packages in any terms. The rapist was killed by John Rich weilding the new Kel Tec shotgun with dual 7 round magazines. Man, did he have some firepower in a compact package! I think you are saying the same thing. Your semantics are correct. He got the point across. Couldn't it be a 'late term abortion'? Maybe a 'really late term abortion'? Interesting. Different parenting styles, I suppose. Possibly due to different regions of the country. In rural areas (suggested by the horses) we don't tend to be as protective of the kids. There are obviously pros and cons to that. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..
