  1. I'm going to chime in. I got married because I thought I got her pregnant. I never considered the possibility that it wouldn't be mine. I don't cheat and it never crossed my mind that she would. Fast forward 20 years. She has cheated the entire time. We are divorced. She tells 'our' son that his real father was a bartender and offers to introduce them. I REALLY want to be able to sue for fraud and get some money back. I can never get back all the years I donated. I still consider the boy my son, but the acts of his mother deserve some form of redress. I have no problem with testing every child at the time of birth. It would keep lots of people straight or set them straight. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  2. I like it. I was expecting something like the old 'Dan Tanna' series (Vega$) where the garage was part of the living room. I guess you are looking for a cute little Japanese girl to be 'furniture'? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  3. He actually used a very common example between two people of color...and an example between two females. Off the top of your head, can you think of a racial slur commonly used between two white males? If so, I will go back and edit this to include your example. I am a white male and can not think of any. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  4. I have to fault your logic here. He said race will not give you special status. You can not use racial slurs and claim it is ok because of your race. That is perfectly consistent. You will similarly not form organizations based on race or other factors. You will be an American student. You can be a purple, androgynous Martian praying to Cthulu on your own time. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  5. Sigh. Taxpayers pay for the school. Parents tend to be taxpayers. There are exceptions. Thank you for making that very important point. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  6. Ha! Good catch. You're right on both counts. I started to google right quick to keep myself straight and then got distracted. It is 'unalienable'. That word always seemed awkward to me and I change it in my head. It was also the Declaration of Independence vice US Constitution. Thanks for the correction. As to 'rights'...these things are not stated as "I believe you have a right'. It is often stated as a fact. I assure you I am not making anything up. Now that you have read this, I expect you will spot it for yourself. It's odd and annoying when you recognize it. As to it being things I disagree with...you are right. These are instances that prick my attention at the moment. Please feel free to bring up instances where the same thing is done by people of other opinions. They happen. I recognize and deplore them when they do. Just nothing springs to mind at the moment. I make no argument that one side or another of any issue does this more. I think it happens regularly among all political persuasions. And I think it weakens the legitimate arguments of whatever side is committing this offense. The examples I gave tend toward the conservative because I tend toward the conservative. Conservatives are at least as guilty of this as anyone else. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  7. Glad to see your input on this, Wendy. Thanks. I don't know how much humans are impacting the global climate, in what direction, and how well the planet adjusts. I really don't think anyone knows with certainty. I have no problem teaches kids that we only have one planet and need to take care of it. Scare tactics not necessary. I have no problem with basics of sex as a part of the human condition. Just remember that this is a school for scholarly foundations. Ultimately, the school is being paid for by the parents who are really responsible for the education of their children. Let the parents make the calls on politicized issues. They are politicized because we can't all agree. Let the parents raise their children. Teach the things we can agree on. 2 + 2 = X is going to get the same answer with monotonous regularity. Abstinance v. safe sex will not. I don't really want to get into the gender / race issue. I'm a white male who has earned everything while others were given opportunities for not looking like me. Selling me anything like the victim mentality is going to be like selling water to a drowning person. Sorry. I didn't get lucky. I busted my rear. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  8. I just saw a piece on the news that sparked this in me... English. It's a pretty precise language when you want it to be. We have politicians and activists who misuse it on a regular basis. "You have a right to quality healthcare" is spoken of frequently. Where is this 'right' enumerated? In the US Constitution? In the Holy Bible or other religious document? The US Constitution talks about 'certain inalienable rights' that are granted by the creator. It attempts to recognize and codify these rights. Why did the Founding Fathers miss this one (if it exists)? "He was killed by a shotgun" or similar language is used in the media. Say it out loud. It sounds familiar. Now, say, "He was killed by a knife". It doesn't sound right. Because it isn't. It was killed BY a person...WITH a shotgun or knife. I've read whole articles about someone being killed by a firearm without ever mentioning another person was involved. Like the firearms are roaming the streets in gangs, looking for victims. Government benefits are now called 'entitlements'. Entitlement means it is owed to you. How did you earn this 'entitlement'? I am entitled to my paycheck. I am entitled to redress before the courts. I am entitled to certain things enumerated in the US Constitution by virtue of being granted them by my Creator. I am not entitled to money I did not earn. I may have put money into the system and be entitled to the social insurance that creates. If I didn't put into the sytem, I am due nothing. If my input was not commensurate with my outtake, I did not earn the excess and am not entitled to it. Please don't get me started on the whole 'undocumented immigrants' debacle. I'm not really trying to argue for whether we should do certain things or not. Just call it what it is. Don't re-word things so they sound like something they aren't. If you like all those government benefits; fine. If you like illegal aliens and want to make them all legal; fine. Argue for what you want. Don't try to change the argument by pretending something is a bird of paradise when it is really a frog. Am I the only one who sees this in everyday life? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  9. I have seen clips before of forced entry by LEO that concerned me. Sometimes, they don't announce well, or aren't marked plainly. Frankly, I'm concerned what would happen if they got the wrong address (it happens) and entered my house in the middle of the night (why the heck do they do that?). I know there is no legitimate reason for LEO to target me. I am concerned that robbers would pretend to be LEO to keep a law abiding homeowner off guard. Let's face it, the outfits LEO wear today in forced entry are available on ebay and do not clearly declare their affiliation (except sometimes when you are BEHIND them). What if my half-asleep self perceived an illegal threat and I opened fire? I've done a little research on the Waco fiasco. Everyone said if you wanted David Koresh, the Sheriff could have called him and asked him to come down. I see situations where LEO chooses to go in tactical for testosterone induced fun rather than necessity. It's concerning. Finally got the article to come up. Kind of skimpy, but makes the point. I think if it is restricted only to LEO that are doing something unlawful, there shouldn't be any reasonable argument against this law. It places the responsibility on the initiating party for making sure things are done right. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  10. To the students and faculty of our high school: I am your new principal, and honored to be so. There is no greater calling than to teach young people. I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers and against our country. First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships. The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity -- your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American. This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans. If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity-, race- and non-American nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America, one of its three central values -- e pluribus unum, "from many, one." And this school will be guided by America's values. This includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness. Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic, racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate narcissism -- an unhealthy preoccupation with the self -- while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages you do not already speak, carpentry and more. If the only extracurricular activities you can imagine being interesting in are those based on ethnic, racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you. Second, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America's citizens for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English language skills, I would be remiss in my duty to ensure that you will be prepared to successfully compete in the American job market. We will learn other languages here -- it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English -- but if you want classes taught in your native language rather than in English, this is not your school. Third, because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning's elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress more formally for Hollywood events than for church or school. These people have their priorities backward. Therefore, there will be a formal dress code at this school. Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school's property -- whether in class, in the hallways or at athletic events. If you can't speak without using the f-word, you can't speak. By obscene language I mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus epithets such as [the 'N' word], even when used by one black student to address another black, or 'bitch,' even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the few your age to instinctively distinguish between the elevated and the degraded, the holy and the obscene. Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way -- the way people attained it until decided otherwise a generation ago -- by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one valedictorian, not eight. Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will be devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue. There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual or not Christian. We will have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider him or herself inordinately lucky -- to be alive and to be an American. Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country. As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them out to you. -- Dennis Prager (1948-) American syndicated radio talk show host, syndicated columnist, author, and public speaker Source: A Speech Every American High School Principal Should Give, July 13. 2010 http://quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quote_blog/Dennis.Prager.Quote.ED65 I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 11. Well, that's not what I meant in my original statement, but yes. Ummm...pictures? On a related note, typing that phrase in google and running a search on a government computer causes problems.... I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 12. You have shoes just for sex? I've heard of stripper shoes. I didn't realize there were shoes just for f*cking! I'm going to have to google this. 14. A few years ago, I was told my cholesterol was too high. I didn't want to take medication. I friend suggested the natural supplement red yeast rice. I researched it. Red yeast rice was a natural dietary supplement that safely reduced cholesterol levels. A pharmaceutical company tested it and found that it worked. They patented it, applied to the FDA and started marketing their new drug. The FDA now pursues anyone who sells the natural supplement unless the natural supplement is refined to eliminate the active ingredient. The pharmaceutical company made huge profits. Our tax money protected their profits. Government and pharmaceutical companies working together to prevent your health unless someone makes a buck. Look it up. 15. Surely you know me better than this? I just thought it was lightly amusing. And I do not believe there is an 'average' woman. Are these the same person? If so, I'd imagine she could relate. Nice try but I wasn't married during my last deployment. The woman I am now married to and I were dating prior to the deployment and had a falling out due in absolutely no part to infidelity on either side as you imply. So I was single during my last trip to Iraq. Since my return we have worked out the issues and were married in February. So while I appreciate you trying to color me as an adulterer you couldn't be further from the truth, I hold marriage to be sacred, as does my wife. So I would appreciate it very fucking much if you would think twice before trying to insult someone publicly like that. I'll also refer you to my recent post in the immigration bill thread where I point to the lack of reading comprehension skills in these forums. Right before I made the joke about not telling my wife I also comedically referred to my current situation as my new life, which would imply that there has been a drastic change since my last deployment. Its called the English language, try to keep up please. I don't know what was in TriGirl's mind, but I took her post to imply that you were dating a woman and later made that same woman your current wife. I see you took it as a slight, but Tri isn't ordinarily like that. Her comment that the woman could relate means 'if the woman was in theater with you and is currently out of theater with you' she can probably relate to your feelings on the matter. That makes the same woman both the dated and the mated. It's called the English language....oh wait...you used that one. And Tri is military, BTW. 18. It's a long standing myth that men think about sex every 16 seconds. Someone did research on what women think about most. I heard about this on the radio this morning and looked it up. Interesting. http://www.graziadaily.co.uk/fashion/archive/2012/06/08/it-s-official--women-think-about-fashion-91-times-a-day-1.htm We know you all love clothes. And shoes. And handbags… And, guess what - you’re not alone. New research has found women think about fashion 91 times a day. That’s once every 11 minutes and 23 seconds in case you were wondering. And the favourite item we think about? Dresses. So why not take a look at some of these gorgeous designs from Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane. The research, by Very.co.uk, also found the total amount of time spent thinking about fashion each day is one hour and 19 minutes. That’s 30 days a year. When you look at some of the Autumn/Winter 2012 trends coming our way, it’s hardly surprising we’re so consumed by fashion. ‘For many young women, fashion is so much more than a casual hobby or mild interest – it’s a way of life - and the results of the survey confirm that', says Very’s Style Director Rebecca Elderfield. There are also regional divides: women in Birmingham have 117 fashion thoughts a day, while women in London have 108. In Cardiff, they have just 64 fashion thoughts a day. Nearly a third said they looked at online fashion websites at least six times a day, while 62% claimed to regularly drift off at work and think about fashion instead. 19. No kidding. That's the most basic right of everyone on the planet. You'll notice that it happened in Canada. American pc douchebags would be fighting for the rights of the criminal. As for the cops telling people not to get involved with their own safety I whole-heartedly disagree to a certain point. If you feel you are capable, take the fucker down. You may be right, you may be wrong. But, at least you'll be the one making the decision. Can you imagine if everyone listened to police? Crime would rise if they knew no-one would resist. THAT'S what they expect already. THAT's why the try to rob the place. There was a story about a guy who went to rob a well known pacifist. The plan was, if the pacifist appeared, just explain that the robber would take the valuables and leave. No need for violence. It's just stuff. The robber ended up fleeing the scene when the pacifist appeared. The robber explained what he was doing and told the pacifist to go back to bed. The pacifist calmly explained that he would never harm another human being, but it just so happened he was about to do some target shooting with his 12ga and the robber was in the line of fire. I'm not sure how well different people adapt. It still confuses me that I slept fine over there. Rocket attacks only annoyed me because I had to get up and let someone know I wasn't dead. IEDs and small arms fire were just something that delayed me from doing what I needed to; kind of like a flat tire. Once I got back, I started waking up in the middle of the night in a dead panic with no idea why. It makes no sense. I've talked to other people. It seems to happen to varying degrees to most. We don't talk about it much. It's just something you live with. Makes me wonder about some people who aren't talking... I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I am inclined to agree. Returning home was much more disruptive to mental balance than the time in theater. We are well prepared for what we will face when we hit the sand. Life in the box hits a pace and we are good with it. Then, we return to our families and are a bit lost. I've been back over two years and I still feel it. We understand our enemy and our mission. Life outside of war is far more complex. We start longing for the simplicity of US v. THEM. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 23. Sorry. That wasn't terribly clear. I received an email about the African Americans for Obama website. In hopes that it was not true, I did a google search.
