But even if it is what you describe (which I agree with), what is the point? Are you going to send kids to special counselors / evaluators because their parents own guns? The original organization, European Iron and Coal or some such, was to make economic links that would inhibit the Germans invading everyone (especially the French) anymore. Good idea. It grew. Sorry. I tried to give you some credibility and read what you posted. I couldn't get through the first piece, because it does not say what you pretend it does. It argues that the NRA has not been consistent in its position on checks and waiting periods. Your selection of one part was not representative of the piece, (just like my selection here) so I decided to save myself the trouble of reading the others. This is what I was trying to tell you. You are not persuading me by ignoring the facts in the article and cherry pickings quotes from others. There are lots of coherent, reasonable arguments for reasonable and effect controls on firearms. I was the first officer in my department to carry a Glock. I was in the ER one day and the Xray techs were asking about it. I call myself a Southern Atheist. That means I don't care about football. In the South, college ball receives more attention than relgigion...and they are pretty religious. I've been serving 28 years so far. I would like to think people would adhere to their oath to protect and defend the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Politically, it was about state rights vs federalism. There is little doubt that Lincoln's motivation was federalism. Realistically, it was about money.
