Just returned from a year in Iraq. GF is meeting me in KC for the weekend. Just got back from a one year deployment to Iraq which was preceded by three months at Ft. Riley, KS. Fifteen months total away from skydiving, hang gliding, family, friends, etc. Glad to be back. GF is in the air right now to see me. Hope everyone has as good a day as mine, but it's so unlikely. :) I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Modern firearms may generally be dry fired with immpunity. Some older firing pins were not of a high quality and purity of metal and sufffered pemature metal fatigue when dry fired too often. Some rim fires had firing pins that were long enough that they could reach the edge of the chamber and become deformed if the soft brass of a case did not intervene. These things are now designed out of the weapons. If you have an older weapon, you might want to avoid the practice of dry fire. Most of the good shooters I know spend sessions dedicated to dry firing at a spot on the wall or a target on the wall. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Kudos for making the right choice. I've had similar things happen. One woman pointed out to me that lots of people would not have done what I did. I told her I had plenty to answer for. There are a couple of pieces of flair that advise against drinking and facebooking. I have had occassions to send them to others. Ditto what D2 said. Also, I understand the itching is your body encouraging you to scratch to shed the dead skin. You can help neutralize the acids that cause the itchiness with a bath including oatmeal. Put the oatmeal in a sock or other such device to prevent it going down your drains. Back on topic - even at eighteen, you are going to want some padding in your sleep roll after the first night. You will be tempted to travel light and rough it. Don't. An inflatable mattress or foam pad will help tremendously. If you don't sleep well, it mucks up the experience. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Why do light switches say 'OFF' and 'ON'? If it's on, you can see that it's on. If it's off, you can't see to read. Why are there locks on the doors of 7 Elven's that are open 24 hours? Anyone taken a vacation like the Germans do? They often pack up, go to the airport and see where the cheap flights are going. Sounds like you could find someplace great.
