I guess the cash for clunkers program forgot to tell people they should buy fuel efficient cars with the money. so I guess being green isn't very important after all.http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/1044/spin-meter-3-billion-buys-not-so-green-vehicles/;_ylc=X3oDMTE5M3F1NDB1BF9TAzI3MTYxNDkEc2VjA2ZwLXRvZGF5BHNsawNjbHVua2VyLXNjYW1z

I don't trust anyone over 30. Quotewhy didn't you say you couldn't be trusted at the start? would have saved alot of time. on the other hand you are saying that you would trust someone under 30 that has little to no practicle experience to make choices upon.

You are asking for a politician to explain everything to you, refuse to read the bill yourself, and have already made up your mind. Don't think it would really matter what anybody would tell you. Quoteyes I am. It is their job to read, write, and understand the bills they are passing. That is what they are elected and paid and trusted to do, and to do it in the country's best intrest. If that is to tough then maybe they need to go into a different line of work. This is possibly the largest single financial and health descission in the history of the world, don't we deserve to have our elected officials know and understand what is in the bill and to help educate us with honest and precise answers? Not guesses and sumerizations that may or may not be true. when asked a question it should be answered by "it says here that this is what will happen". The talk should be backed by documentation and so there is no missunderstanding.

I disagree. I think we're at or close to the bottom. The indicators are mixed so right now, from sales, to UI, to foreclosures, to trade deficit, to commodities, to interest rates, that it should indicate that things are, overall, be leveling out. Now, that doesnt mean things are rosy. There may still be some contraction carrying on, but I think that the numbers that will come up next year will show that the end if the recession (ie the end of the contraction) occurred in Q3. The US will probably be at a close to zero growth for a while after that(1 or 2 Q) before getting back into growth. But, thats just my opinion!

Hey, we can make her up a Kenyan birth certificate real quick. Quotethe problem John is that instead wasting the time on staged, pull your heart strings question from a cute little girl that has nothing to do with the bill itself, why not take questions from the actual people that are serious about this bill? The girls question had nothing to do about the bill but how to make the people carriing the signs saying "mean things" vote for health care reform. The election is over, he won, isn't time to stop the campaign and start being the president? Lets get to the facts, show us the meat of the bill, tell us excactly what each piece of the bill does and how it does it. Give us the answers not the general thoughts of his ideas.

If Obama's health care bill is so good, why does he need to lie? He said yesterday that the AARP was on board, less than 24 hous after the the head of AARP said on Bill Orielly's show said that they have not aproved the bill. Then you got the press secretary stumbling to find a way to make it look like it isn't a lie. Why would anyone support a bill that the president has to lie to support his position?

Ok so I did miss read the dependant coverage addition, but the terms and conditions cannot be altered and that means your insurance company cannot make adjustments to your coverage without loosing your currant policy. therefore you will have to go into the government pool at that point. As far as page 17, policy premiums can be changed but only "as specified by the commissioner". Last time I checked, a company will discontinue a product if it becomes not profitable, if the company cannot control pricing when that product base price increases it will become unprofitable and be dropped. Also remember that this is a guideline, the actual parameters will be set by a congressional panel. That means this is probably the best the situation will be and will probably get worse when the details get worked on. I don't trust the government especially after the last few years.

You misread it, or more likely were misled about it. Quotewhat part did I missread? I read the pages and understand english, what did I not understand?

Nicely snipped bit of footage there! I really cannot see what this strom in a teacup is all about. Coming from a country that has govornment healthcare, i know that private health insurace can compete and it can make healthy profits. What is it about privitisation that you lots seem so passionate about? private healthcare is about making profit out of healthy people and limiting the amount of sick people that have access. Govornment healthcare is about having a healthy population and in turn a healthy productive country. Of course there will be a proportion of business lost in the healthcare sector as those that wish to use govornment healthcare will not have to pay private companies anymore. But you will still be able to have private healthcare if you want to. What is the big deal?

searched the entire thread and could not see a link that kallend had posed, please direct me to it with a link. Seems like an impossibility to completely remove the option of private healthcare, i will be interested to see how that would be possible. Look at every country that has socialised healthcare, you will also find private healthcare.

slightly wrong Bill. on diesel engines you get the best fuel mileage when the timing is adjust leaner, wich causes heat and higher nox. the same engine in germeny gets about 20% better fuel mileage because they less strict on the nox emission.

The Economic Fallout Has Decimated the Black Middle Class
marks2065 replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
the black middle class are spending their money on 'rims' - and this is why they are discriminated against? -
Thanks, but I have all the tools I need, and a lot more besides.

Should South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford quit/be impeached?
marks2065 replied to BrendaHupp's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm not aware of any such restriction. CA is an at-will employment state, so they don't need a reason to terminate your employment (or for you to quit without notice) -
I was watching cnn the other night and was very dissapointed in them. they don't seem to want to report anything that would upset the Obama fans. The death toll in afganistan is skyrocketing and nothing said, when bush was potus they reported almost every death. they talked bad about the right being organized for the town hall meetings when in fact the left is paying people to go to town halls. (craigs list advertises jobs in several cities including New York and chicago, getting paid $10-15 and hour to go support Obama's health care). The signs that are professionally printed are the ones held by the left. We need all the information presented and let us make the choices but that is not going to happen. So your line about getting my news from Fox tells me that if you don't watch Fox you are not getting all the information you need to make a wise choice.

Obama didn't help his cause yesterday when he commented on how UPS and fed ex are ok, it is the us mail that has issues. perfect example of why we don't need obama care. the government ALWAYS fucks up and we already have problems why would we need to make it worse? why don't we just fix a couple issues and see what happens. send Illegals home and add a little tort reform and see what happens? Would this be something that the left would agree to? Bill wouldn't this make more sense?

Or, is is because the down side makes them look stupid?
marks2065 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
You haven't presented any data to support your claim that "the poor" are being taken advantage of in this program. Which leads to the philosophical question - is it possible to ignore data which aren't there? -
Should South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford quit/be impeached?
marks2065 replied to BrendaHupp's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes, if I had a really really shitty work where I was out 20 hours on the weekend fixing a production problem/project, my manager would probably tell me to take off Monday, and if I asked for more and it was feasible, he'd grant it. But there's still an actual request here. Not showing up without notice is grounds for termination with cause. And of course, the governor has a higher visibility/responsibility. Unless the Lt Gov takes over, I think he has to be reachable by cell phone. -
i agree with you that shoddy workmanship shouldn't get a pass. as with any other profession, there are bad doctors, there are lazy doctors, there are even a few stupid doctors. you are right that malpractice does occur, but suing doctors willy nilly is a huge and costly problem and it needs to be addressed. i certainly don't think doctors should be immune to being sued, but there needs to be some controls put in place so we can bring the cost down.
