  1. Keep persuading nobody but your own choir, while most of the moderates, including a hell of a lot moderate Republicans, run screaming away from you. Please - keep it up for at least the next 4 years.
  2. I am proud of this country. Proud enough to have become a citizen, by my own choice, about a year ago. Please don't get the idea that I am completely happy about the current state of affairs in this country. All I have been arguing is that the "pursuit of happiness" is a lot easier if
  3. Oh yeah, I also have a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle, which is not very fuel efficient at all. Don't qualify, too old. Quotewouldn't it be nice if the cars that really need to go (like your vw) would qualify?
  4. You're joking, right? Every government on the planet trades individual liberty and societal benefit to various degrees, and most people are perfectly happy with that. The only alternative is 100% anarchy (with a lot of really well armed people). Are you an anarchist?
  5. Compare the nations that do give prison inmates reasonable health care, with those that do not. There's your answer.
  6. Do the calculation Mark. The greatest benefit comes from getting grossly inefficient vehicles off the road even if only a 4mpg increase is involved. Substituting a Prius for an old Civic does not give the same benefit as substituting a new F150 for an old GMC beater truck.
  7. That seems to be the problem with the left. the data they use seems to be 1 dementional. when you look at the data from the viewpoint from conception to end of life their numbers usualy don't add up
  8. ? Consider two drivers who each drive 10,000 miles/year. One trades in a 10mpg clunker truck for a new 14mpg truck, a 4mpg increase. The other trades in a 35mpg clunker subcompact for a new 60mpg hybrid, a 25mpg increase. Which one saves the most oil and pollution? QuoteNiether until the carbon / energy footprint of production of the vehicle is erased by driving enough miles to offset the production emissions. Although the 25 mpg increase purchase will get there sooner if driving miles are the same as the 4 mpg vehicle. If the the 25 mpg vehicle only gets drivin a couple thousand miles per year it may never save enough to make the purchase an enviromentally friendly one.
  9. What I would like to know is why he is even getting health care when honest Brits are standing in line waiting for care? Makes me wonder about the moral compass of the brit government.
  10. And having just been at the DMV and the tax office this week.... I don't exactly see the Govt running anything very well. PLUS, I HAVE BEEN TO THE VA and I don't find that quality of care near as good as my private insurance. Do YOU have any experience with Govt run health care? Plus you are ignoring how Frances system has been losing money for 20 years. QuoteBill and the rest of the left trust the government to run things efficiently just like they always do, like the post office, medicare, medicade and soso security. definately great models to use as an example.
  11. the dealer has to pay the manufacturer for the car when sold, waiting 2-3 months for the money from the government could actually cause a struggling dealer to not be able to pay bills and incure costs from fines and late fees.
  12. does anyone have a link to the report this morning that the dealers are getting reject notices instead of money on the clunker claims? I heard about dealers getting rejects notices with no reason for the reject.
  13. Hi Mark, It's not the "Cash 4 Klunkers" program" that is interesting, it's the "Caskets 4 Klunkers" program in the med bill that's amusing!!!
  14. no, chicago style corruption can't be happening in the whitehouse. When does Blago get his cushy job?
  15. Either the government is totally inept and couldn't organize a bachelor party, or they are criminal masterminds that faked a birth certificate/election, moon landing, covered up alien conspiracies and jfk. You guys need to get your story straight QuoteObama could organize a bachelor party, that is what he did was organize, and it would probably be a good one. But the presidents job is a little different and Obama is showing he does not have the skills to do it.
  16. www.gallup.com/Home.aspx Still 53% approval despite the systematic program of lies being spread around by the GOP. Prof. My reason for showing the facebook poll was simply because there is no way to track the demographics. There are no formulas for sampling. Just people placing there opinion. I think it's interesting that so many people are finding him toxic.
  17. well that and the whole making sure everyone can go to the doctor when they get injured or sick...
  18. QuoteI have several issues with this program. 1. it doesn't promote the american car manufacturers. promoting GM Ford & Chrysler would keep the profits in the Us and create jobs. About half the money is building the foriegn car companies and the profits go to the country the car came from. 2. it does not insure a vehicle purchase that is more fuel efficient or cleaner. since 20-25 % of all emissions that a car will ever produce is under the constructing of the car, gaining only 1-2 mpg better leaves you in a negative carbon footprint for over 100,000 miles. 3. This program will take about 750,000 cars of the road that shops like mine won't be repairing. I already have a recession to deal with, now I have lost several cars to work on for at least the warranty period. (and the ones that bought these cars had the money to pay for the needed repairs)
  19. Give me a break; you're deliberately mischaracterizing what I said. I'm not willing to play that game.
