  1. Only an American could claim that some other country is violating his 'constitutional rights'. Textbook example of why the world gets 'pissed off' with Americans/America in general. This from some of the same people that claim terrorists and/or enemy combatants, captured on foreign soil should have the same Constitutional Rights as American Citizens living in the U.S. +1
  2. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/01/19/despite-threats-canada-movie-iran/# Shutting down the wimpy assed is a good thing in this case. OOooohhhhhhhhh, we dont want to piss anybody off Again Good for Canada
  3. Sounds good to me, if it isn't protecting our borders, paving nationional highways, or paying social security isn't much else the fed government should pay for.
  4. we are not defending death panels, most feel that the government should not be involved at all. if he doesn't have money or ins the state or fed government should not pay either.
  5. True dat. To be clear, I have to say... Yes WE elected them, but then we relinquished control over them by being so damned apathetic concerning their actions after the election. Spending. Who did the spending? Who did the OVER spending that put us in this hole? Does YOUR state have any control over the pork barrel spending? Does YOUR state pay for unnecessary luxuries and services? Is there nowhere less important in your states budget where spending could be reduced to help cover medical costs? So, IMO, yes, I guess, WE must take the blame and kick ourselves for putting the big spenders in office. Too bad the only voting choices we had were "bad" and "worse". Do you feel OK with the GOP dominated government of red-state Arizona denying care, while the GOP at the same time whines about "death panels"? Or do you think it a little hypocritical? If you read the articles in the other thread about this arizona case you would know that they already pay for more than most states (including blue and red ) so instead of complaining about what arizona didn't pay for why don't you complain about the states that do less than arizona?
  6. I believe stating a 66% increase is a lot more sensational than stating a rise from 3% to 5% ... Read the article See what the business increases are I read it and believe that the media (and you) are focusing on 66% because it is more sensational than 2% ... As far as the business increases, they're less than the personal increases. I feel this paragraph is more important because other countries have shown and or are showing the problems with raising taxes to pay rising pension and health care costs while cutting other areas of the government ... this will increase unemployment in Illinois. The companies that employ thousands of people that can move out of state will because the cost savings will pay for the move. Illinois is already one of the least freindly states to corporations and now is going to be worse. It will be like new jersy and oregon that raised taxes on the wealthy and lost revenue due to them moving to another place.
  7. it is not the end of life planning that is the issue, it would be denial of care by a government agency that is the problem. The federal government should not be involved in choices made for someone's care and treatment.
  8. Bill and john can just write a check payable towards the national debt or other govrnment debt anytime they want, they don't need congress to mandate it.
  9. Bill you seem to not see the other positive things with this tax system. You could lay off most of the IRS (it is easier to monitor the company's collections of the tax than almost 300 million people), those that don't pay tax now would on anything purchased (crooks, drug dealers illegals and even those evil rich with to many tax deductions). savings in millions on government, dismantleing most of the IRS, and everyone that puchases something will pay tax. Now what else do we have now that is more fair?
  10. But the crooked mayors keep getting re-elected. not for long, but we will get a moore crooked one in his place, you know the guy that helped form Obama's crooked policies.
  11. We really need to get back to basics... and worship the season as they did before judeo-christians took it over. We all need to return to the origins of the season the old school pagan way. orgies?? or did you not mean that far back? Hey Orgies are good... http://blog.prehistoricshamanism.com/115/the-winter-solstice-in-prehistory/ Hey its one way to keep warm this time of year in northern regions, the more people under the hides.. the warmer this http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/12/minnesota-santa-claus-banned-from-head-start-classes-to-avoid-offending-muslims.html is just another stupid attack on christians.
  12. the problem is that just because your tax return says you made X doesn't mean you made X. Because of the way corporate taxes are filed and bills are paid your cash flow could be under half of what your income tax form said. 3 years ago my tax form said I made 125k but since the equipment I bought was deducted the previous year the 50k paid on equipment was not reduced off my income, therefor I paid taxes on 125k but that was taken out of 75k leaving me with alot less than someone that just made 75k. It isn't what you make it is what you keep and the fed goverment doesn't care what you keep. It sounds like you are desparately in need of an accountant. got a good one but you can only postpone paying taxes, you can not eliminate them. they kept me even for a few years but it always gets you in the end. since I don't cheat on my taxes I do have to pay. I could have pocketed much of the cash, but I always seem to pay in the end so I figure I might as well be honest and not get caught later.

  14. According to "G.O.P. Panelists Dissent on Cause of Crisis". OTOH, according to the Federal Reserve, CRA loans to low income borrowers were of far less consequence (lower default rate) than non CRA loans made by companies not subject to CRA rules. When the lending practices are changed for one group that trickles up to the other groups. When the lending standards of higher income groups were lowered to the standards of low income groups we opened up a huge can of worms and it exploded in our faces. This was just another form of trickle up poverty the dems like to practice and all the hard working americans will have to pay for another failed dem policy.
  15. this is a pefect example of why government is so fucked up, they can not simply say +1, they need to complicate everything until nobody understands anything. like saying -(-1)
  16. you complain about the polititions using sound bites and clips out of context but you do the same thing.
  17. This might be a good thing, those that want to vote need to not be on welfare or other government subsidies. to many vote for handouts and don't contribute to the country in any meaningful way. Right. Because when a company shuts its doors in a town, you lose your job, can't afford to pay your mortgage, have to sell your house and live in an apartment . . . yeah, you should also lose your right to vote. Sigh. living in an apartment you still pay property taxes, it is included in the rent. my comment was you need to be productive not a drain on the country.
  18. So, all the bankers who took TARP money would lose their right to vote? All the military contractors whose livelihood depends on corporate welfare form the government would lose their right to vote? This might be a plan I could get behind. last thing I remember the bankers and military personel have jobs and contribute to the country, people eating on the couch watching tv and collecting welfare do not.
  19. I know 4 that didn't look for jack until the very end also. My lazy ass cousin surprised me though. He found a new job after 4 weeks. I thought for sure he would ride those checks till the very end. Gee I lost my job at that little software place East of Seattle on 22 OCT 2010. I started my new gig with a $30K a year raise the following Monday. I think people who "milk" the system are just dumbasses. I like my lifestyle.. and I am willing to work to afford that. It seems to work out pretty good for me

  22. to bad we can't get the minnesota senate election back.
  23. The math has been done The problem has nothing to do with taxation Spending is the issue And military spending is very little if any of the problem Point one... the math has been done.... are you kidding.. by who... grade school dropouts???? Point #2 Every other war in this nations history has had taxes raised to support it. By not doing so W and his boys screwed the pooch!!! The basic premise that we have to spend more for our military than every other country on the planet is flawed. Let the other people who do not appreciate being "protected" start paying for their own protection, I for one am sick to death with have a Defense Department that is defending the rest of the damn planet. You are right about only oine thing.... YES we have been spending far too much... but cutting taxes in the face of deepening debt is something even a fifth grader knows is stupid. not as stupid as spending more of what you don't have. and to the amount of defende spending, we could always have russia or china defend us.
  24. I was swimming around in one of my dads nuts trying to find a way out.
