Drilling will supply us for years. once again the left has failed us with a short term feel good fix to a long term problem. Not actually fixing the problem just pushes any fix farther down the road. The left is actually about making people feel good not fixing any problems. That is why all the kids get a trophy instead of only the winner. what would be better is helping the kids understand why they didn't get a trophy and teaching them how to improve to get one. Bitter much???? No trophies huh Only people like you would be not smart enough to understand why it is more important to teach understanding of failure and how to overcome it instead of making the failures think they won and letting them enter adulthood with the missconception that the world is a nice place were everybody is a winner.

True, and I fear because of that we are doomed. I have no confidence that Congress can conduct business with honesty and hard work. At this point I would take just a balanced budget, we can work on honesty and hard work later.

this is a perfect example of how blind the liberals can be. when someone cannot manage money (low credit score) you don't give them more money(or a house). Instead you take the credit card away until they show they can manage money and then you monitor them to confirm they can handle the responsibility. The fed's credit card should be taken away also, and the debt limit should not be raised.

I'll start with something I care about! EAS!!!!!!!! Farm subsidies. Subsidies for Ehthanol. I could keep going. Insignificant fraction of the problem. You can eliminate all of that, + all foreign aid, + all funding for the arts and humanities and NPR and the National Labs other favorite targets of Tea Party morons, and still we'll have a huge deficit. What most liberals don't understand is you have to start somewere. just because making a couple cuts doens't "fix" the problem doesn't mean you scrap the idea. Start making cuts and keep making cuts until the issue is fixed. Raing taxes does not fix the overspending in gov. Anyone that is getting a gov check is going to feel it. Maybe if people had planned fot their future instead of relying on gov they wouldn't be as affected by the cuts that have to happen. maybe if the fed gov had stayed out of the lives of the people more they would not have ever become dependant on the gov. All special tax breaks should end because companies that favor a political should not be getting tax breaks because of it. GE should be paying their share of tax and all companies like them. If all companies payed 20-25% flat tax on all profits we would have everybody paying into the system and they would be less likely to promote candidates for political office. This would make elections more about the people and what they want.

the fed gov is doing the same thing, wasting 3 times the amount of paper and ink when it is not needed. why should we pay to print in other languages?

I thought you could think a little deeper than your comment. The point I was making is that everything is printed multiple times, like instructions on all notices posted at the gov. places are either double sized or they have a second or third made, one for each language, why the waste? the instructions for the water heater I just bought is 37 pages long only 9 are in english. this is the waste that is not needed.

the question here is why should we tolerate it? why should our tax $s pay for the doubple and triple printing of everything? why would the ones that push to be more "green" be the ones promoting chopping down 2-3 times the amount of trees to print things in multiple languages?

Turns out the succesful economies have a hybrid system in place. Problem is that the government debt is a form of socialism and not capitalism and the stronger the fed gov gets the worse it gets. we need to severly limit the fed gov and let capitalism take control again. Good job the government was there to bail out AIG or we'd be in a depression, not recovering from a recession started by greedy Wall St. capitalists. The bail out was not what I would have done but it was done in a way that most of the money from Tarp was paid back, unlike the stimulus waste of money.

The reason the US is such a great country is that we have the freedom to do things that may cause a shorter life expectancy, like smoking drinking and skydiving. Can you name a western European country where citizens are not allowed to smoke, drink and skydive? Yep they do drink smoke and skydive, but we seem to do everything bad for us to an extreme that is hard to match by any other country. Also are the figures conmpared the same, do both use pre delivery infant deaths in the figures? Are the figures af all compiled under the same rules?

Either that or . . . the Weiner story is better and has pictures. Damn "liberal" media. Weiner could be having sex with Bill Clinton and the left would still find a way to make fun of Palin at the top of the hour. The left is drivin to blast the right at all costs and the Weiner story would not stand in the way if they had anything bad on Palin.

I dont see any fox news anchor running for president, But I do see fox news hiring people from many areas of the political spectrum. there are several people on fox news that really piss me off with their views but that is needed to show how bad it could be if the left continues to control washington. The problem with the left is they look so bad they make the bad ideas of the right look good.

The US spends more on health care for many reasons including free health care for non citizens and developement of most of the new drugs and procedures used in the world. We could greatly reduce the cost of giving health care by eliminating most of the stupid lawsuites that drain money from the system and remove some of the restrictions on insurance companies that restrict them from selling insurance nationaly. How many people could have been treated with the money the lawyers pocketed? To have the life expectancy we have with our destructive activities and the governments interference is really a tribute to the medical comunities abilities.

what you see is a problem that is real, so many parents protected thier kids from the evil world and let them have whatever they wanted and then they graduate from college with no work ethic or an actual degree in a field they can work in. the first thing that alot of younger people want is to sit behind a desk checking out facebook and make 60k plus a year. The parents should have made little johny get a job at burger king or cut grass for the nieghborhood instead of playing xbox. The cars that teenagers drive should be paid for by the kid not the parent. the gas and insurance should be paid for by the kid also.

that seems to be the problem nowdays, to many people look at things like looks number of signs in the yards and verble skills instead of abilities and policies.

the only thing Gingrich has going for him is that he presided over the last fiscally responsible house, his baggage is to much to win the rep race (remember he was run out on a scandle). Pawlenty/ Bachmann (my picks) is probably the best ticket of the candidates running but I fear it will be Romney / Cain that wins because of Romney's liberal ideas like health care that would be a reason for some on the left to vote for him. The biggest issue on the presidential election is the black vote, Obama carried (i think) 94% of the black vote in 2008 and would carry possibly 80% this time. Any republican would need to get 30-35% of the black vote or have a poor black voter turn out to win. We already know that many independants will swing republican this time but that won't be enough without some help from the black community.
