I second the motion. I hate drinking and driving, there's never an excuse for it.

There are a lot of differences between the two. And there are a lot of reasons why one is legal and the other is not, but those reasons have little to do with which one is more dangerous or more of a problem to society. Just because something is legal doesn't mean that it's ok, and just because something is illegal doesn't mean that it's not ok. Laws are made by imperfect humans, after all. EXACTLY.
-
I know what you're saying but of course the difference is one is legal one isn't, that's the bottom line.

i'm probably all alone on this here.. but yea, deciding between skydiving and a motorcycle, i feel skydiving to be safer.. i speak from experience. doing everything right, and you can still die. i was lucky enough to walk away from it without a scratch and even lift the bike up. but it could have been a lot worse. my grandmother bought me a car if i wouldnt ride a motorcycle. if i'll ever have kids, or grandchildren, i'd rather pay for a car, or AFF, jumps 'til license and own gear for that matter, than having them ride a motorcycle.. i always resisted, but i always felt the urge to tell my skydiving friends how dangerous a bike can be. everyone knows what happens if you ever fall and slid into solid objects. be that rails that are just high enough for a body to get through, but dont leave space for the head wearing a helmet. usually those are supported by vertical rods that would make a truck stop. from busy roads to many people with varying levels of skills and abilities, there are just a lot of objective dangers out there. sorry for the hijack!

Have a great one

tut tut, you wanna give up that skydiving habit.

Could you recommend a good one? Don't think i have tried any but i am up for most anything. Popular ones are Boddingtons, John Smiths and (to a lesser degree) Holt's. Then there's the "real ales" of which I dont particulary know that much, they're not sold in all pubs, just the selected few.

Nice to see a true Englishman.

It looks like somebody has put a stick up your bottom.

YES I was trying to think of that one, nice.

I live in America where the best beers seem to be the domestic draught. I've started to notice that the light beers here seem to be lower alcohol or at least it seems to be to me, you can drink loads and it just makes you wee more. At the mo I'm working my way thru bottles, dos equis is nice when it's really cold, as are a few of the mexican beers. Imported draught always seem to have a strange taste to them, it's weird, hard to put my finger on it but a guiness here is nothing like in England, same with stella etc etc. I'll do some research tonight, hope that helps

I'm absolutely no expert so take what I say with a pinch of salt, I was using a f111 260 rental canopy and went back to the store because my landings were really hard and the bloody thing didnt seem to flare, the only nearest size they had was then a 230 zp. Anyway I tried that and oh boy what a difference, especially flaring, for me downsizing and changing to zp worked wonders. I dont want to say too much because the sky gods on here will slate me because of my inexperience, I'm just saying it worked for me that's all. And I hope your knee gets better soon.

whats that little bungee at top of rigs?
taylor.freefall replied to taylor.freefall's topic in Gear and Rigging
Yeah thanks Laura, we did the coached jumps after AFF but they concentrated more on movement ie tracking, flips, turns etc etc Sometimes when I'm sat at home things occur to me that dont when I'm at the dropzone if you see what I mean. jojo's answer was very helpful actually, now I think about it it's bloody obvious really?! oh well, that's life -
I thought tandem was more scary but then it was my first jump so it could well have just been that. It's definitely time to do AFF, you'll enjoy it, it's a lot lore in depth and interesting
-
Hi Soulsurfer! Good luck with your jump tomorrow

whats that little bungee at top of rigs?
taylor.freefall replied to taylor.freefall's topic in Gear and Rigging
Actually no I never was told that on AFF, seriously. We were told all about emergency procedures on the main and what to do then but nothing about how the reserve works, or on the packing class - just told how to pack the main. Yeah I got the SIM and I am reading my way through it and also skydivers handbook. I've been jumping less than three months so you'll have to forgive me if I ask questions that may seem basic to you, there's a lot of stuff to take in for a beginner that may seem easy to more advanced jumpers. Maybe there should be some more instruction after AFF so newbies can be better informed rather than pretty much being left to their own devices. -
These are the equivalent of a Rolls Royce, everything about them is just ace, everything, they're are almost TOO good to jump in. I cant say enough good things about these pants, it's a great shame they are not being made anymore. Great service and a great product, ten out of ten.
