I agree. As if life's not hard enough that you can't help someone out. The DZO, in the long run, would have probably got a lifetime customer and a good reputation through word of mouth had he helped that new kid out. It could be argued that it would have made better business sense to do it as a favor. Either way IMO it still seems a bit tight arsed.

I'm in exactly the same same position as you. I was reading about reverse s folds, or something like that, to get it in the bag easier. If you do a search something should pop up. I wish I had something to suggest but I'm clueless as well. Good luck with it anyway and keep practicing I guess. Oh one thing - I use a hook to practice rather than put it over my shoulder, that might help a bit at first if (like me) you take a long time with it and find yourself getting tired.

Shit and don't bother, you'll not be at home much and work a zillion hours. Like the person said above it's a single bloke's game. Besides traffic these days is so bad it just makes it a pain in the arse. Become an electrician or a plumber etc.

I'm at Perris too, let me know when you pass your A and I'll jump with ya.

Me too, always when getting ready to go out or just having a chill out. Great after a day of skydiving or surfing.

sometimes doing the right thing...(long)

I'm thinking that really in all the replies to this thread that nobody is wrong, if that makes sense. The difference is in the way people handle certain situations. What is clear is that everybody is divided over the issue which would indicate that this is certainly a grey area. What could have made prevented the situation maybe is if the cashier in the first place hadn't covertly taken the card ie had asked, and if the other girl hadn't gone to her supervisor straight away, ie spoken to the cashier herself, and then they both would have known where they stand with each other and possibly prevented this unimportant situation from happening. What is clear through this post is the importance to always be honest and open about everything no matter what it is - then these things can be avoided - especially where money is concerned. Having said all this If I had a company I'd employ the honest girl every time over somebody who took things, whatever they were, important or not. Somebody even taking something from the trash just says something about their moral character to me. -
Just a quickie - Since writing this post I now have my A license so if any other newbies fancy jumping with me please drop me a line, I jump at Perris and just looking for other people who are in a similar position to me.

Hi Jon, I did my first jump in Hawaii and it was great (scary really), but I definitely fancy jumping there again some day. Nice DZ, nice people.
-
Yep the jumps were great....next time we will have to do more - and of course if you are ever in our neck of the woods come and play with us Hey thanks, it means a lot. Time goes TOO fast when you're having fun!! If I'd have my way we would've done 30 jumps!!
-
Hey John, it was great meeting you and jumping with you. I didn't realize that it was a beer jump for you, first RW and all.. Our exits sucked, but we got together and had lots of fun. I look forward to the next time. Ed Thanks Ed Although the exits sucked you wouldn't believe how much I enjoyed those jumps - I cant tell ya!!

Things you wouldn't let your best friend do

Nothing, I trust my best friend 100% and know him well enough to know he wouldn't do anything I wouldn't like. -
A MASSIVE thanks from me in particular to Cindy and Ed for letting me do my first ever RW jumps with them. Fantastic fun and learned a lot. Wish I had more time.
-
it was ok but the third one could've done a better arch.

Gary you're in denial, you know you love it

Personally I don't think it is a problem at all. I'm glad moody stood up for what she thinks is right, I just don't happen to agree that it's a problem to take a gift card that the customer doesn't want. I know what you're saying and part of me agrees. However I still believe if there's ever a grey area that it should be brought out into the open so things like this don't happen. I know in that situation that I would've left it well alone. If I decided I did want it I would've asked a supervisor, that way no one can accuse you of stealing. -

The guy said it was trash. Does a person need consent to take trash? -

It's not the same, it was taken without consent, and it's irrelevant what happens to it later. -

Yeah and why wait for him to leave the shop if it wasn't wrong?! -
Just watching the news and it looks like another school shooting in Illinois.

Isn't that just the truth

I'd do it anyway and believe I'd win that argument if it ever went to court.

Absolutely 100% did the right thing, theft is theft. For f's sake dont feel guilty about it. If anybody should be it should be them but I guarantee they wont give a shit so dont feel guilty over it. -
To be honest if he's got no insurance he's probably got no money anyway. I guess chasing it would only because it was a matter of principal for you as financially I doubt it would go far. It just depends how important is it to you.
