Kids have it so easy these days... [grumpy old man] I remember when ripping a CD was a lengthy process. Command line based and tedious. You have to first rip to a WAV file (praying your CD drive could do it so you didn't have to play/record through the sound card) then figuring out which codec was the best. CDEX was the greatest program ever because it would do the two steps in order for you AND read the CD information from CDDB. It still took an hour to rip a whole CD, but that was still faster than trying to find a leech-friendly FTP site or IRC bot to download the songs from at blazing dial-up speeds. I almost asked if you were trying to survey something, because that made more sense, but you were talking about a GPS. I can't help you much with that, but yes, that is the direction you need to go, not lat/log coordinates. You want to travel between the two points? First understand latitude and longitude: http://www-istp.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/Slatlong.htm Those numbers are degrees minutes and seconds. Are you supposed to be filling in the blanks somewhere? N52*40'42" and N30*16'19" are just two lines of latitude. EDIT: I didn't notice the E at the end of both of them - that doesn't make sense. Yup, completely depends on what you want to do. I got a Tivo because (besides getting an 80 hour box WITH lifetime service for $250) I don't have cable, I want to abel to hack around with the Tivo box, and I like all the bells and whistles that come with it - playing music and photos from my pc, scheduling recordings online, transferring shows to/from my pc, and now with the web based hme apps and downloadable content... I'm REALLY glad I went with Tivo. Yahoo weather and traffic on my TV via Tivo EDIT: My bad... a think a month or so ago you got a free 40 hr box with lifetime service, I must have had that on the brain still. Now it reads: "Save $150 instantly on any TiVo Box when you pre-purchase 12 months of service ($155.40). Full terms below." So, 12 months it is. You still get rebate with lifetime too of course. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Yeah, I'm hoping that'll drop. I'm guessing to ~ $400 maybe? The 360 is $300... is the extra $100-150 worth all the extras? I think the PS3 is supposed to come with the HD, blue-tooth and wi-fi built in, and blu-ray support. So.... maybe. As for 'not being a real gamer' ... ummm... yeah. I've been playing games since they were black and white blocks! I'm not saying the 360 isn't a decent platform, I just don't understand all the hype, and the PS3 is going to be superior. I think a good chunk of the console gamers out there are waiting for the PS3. Of course, Sony already has most of the market, so that might not be saying much.
