  1. Well sure, if you want to be technically accurate. I was just think for logistical purposes, it would be easier to use the 4 wing-tips. The desired affect is still accomplished, though maybe not in the exact sense of "quartered" It says your signature can be 100 characters, but I can only get it to accept 50.
  2. We still love ya boss..... I'm guessing he works for a company trying to sell those things. Anyone taking advantage of a tragedy like this to make a couple bucks should be drawn and quartered by a pair of super otters. My sunshine-She finer than a painted rose- Aerosmith - Sunshine

  4. I can vouch for this. My container got screwed up on the order (not my fault) and I got my new one back better than it was supposed to be. Now if they would have just taken a little longer to get around to fixing it, I might have gotten the chest rings too (about a week after I got it, they annouced the unisys harness... d0h!) My only complaint about Mirage is not enough freestuff. C'mon! I spend that much money on a container and I get a sticker? How about a t-shirt or two? Pull-up cords? cozies? skydivers... always trying to get something for free... My sunshine-She finer than a painted rose- Aerosmith - Sunshine
  5. Easy there tough-guy! That's what I was trying to clear up too, I'm sure he meant it fired, but didn't release the reserve (just words got mixed up there somewhere) I'm guessing it did cut the loop, but the reserve was already out, so people see it as not cutting the loop, but what they mean is that it wasn't responsible for the deployment of the reserve. k.. I think I just successfully talked in a circle.. and confused myself My sunshine-She finer than a painted rose- Aerosmith - Sunshine
  6. Excellent.. and my thoughts exactly. Please tell me this was written by a skydiver, it's just too accuratel and well-done to have been written by a wuffo. Wait.. the name Heather sounds familiar... Oh.. I think I even know where from now! Tell her "Good job!" and I hope that got in a couple papers. 9. You mean the cypres fired, but didn't deploy the reserve, right? Oh, and the whole knotted PC thing - I would guess that the knot got started in the bridle, and moved down the line to the PC where it finally tightened up. My sunshine-She finer than a painted rose- Aerosmith - Sunshine
  10. Actually, the gray market comes from the dealers that 'piggy back' an order with an authorized Sony retailer. When you're an "Authorized" Sony dealer, you have to play by Sony's rules, and set your prices where Sony tells you to set them (that whole percieved value BS) So these gray market guys charge whatever they want, because Sony can't tell them what to do. Most of the time you'll have no problem ordering from one of these places. Many of them seem to be in NY, and with most you'll get a hard sales pitch about accessories, extended warrenty, whatever. I highly suggest you check out http://www.resellerratings.com/ before buying from one of those places. After some research, I bought my PC-110 from dbuys.com (out of New York) - I got a brand new camera with all the stuff just like I would have from any place else, and saved about $700 in the process. YMMV My sunshine-She finer than a painted rose- Aerosmith - Sunshine

  13. The real problem here is the IQ of the average executive manager type person normally found in high-rise office buildings. I mean, come on, don't you read Dilbert?? My sunshine-She finer than a painted rose- Aerosmith - Sunshine

  15. fatboy's got a great point.... for what these people would spend on an "emergency escape parachute" - develope a 15 min oxygen mask, and some nomex outfit. Not nearly as spectacular, but a much better chance of working, less to screw up, little to no training required, and less likely to cause massive internal injuries. Cuz I need sunshine-The kind that everybody knows-My sunshine-She finer than a painted rose-
  16. Eh? Sorry... should have quoted. My digitude that got busted on the jump he was talking about. Then, I saw these two guys swoopin across the pond, and I was like 'weeeeeee!!!!'

  19. cderham - looks like you were right. From the Ottawa Daily Times: --------------- State's attorney questioning skydive deaths By DAN CHURNEY — Staff Writer La Salle County’s chief law enforcement official is considering examining operations at Skydive Chicago after the skydiver death toll for this year reached four on Sunday. “I’m investigating the possibility of legal remedies to the situation at Skydive Chicago,” La Salle County State’s Attorney Joe Hettel said Monday, “but I’m doubtful of what I can do.” Hettel said he decided to consider action against the skydiving facility after the death of Bruce Greig on Sunday, who fell to his death when his parachute apparently failed to properly deploy. A man and a woman died Oct. 6 and a college student was killed July 9. Eight other parachutists have died since Chicago Skydive opened in 1993 in Wallace Township. It later moved to Dayton Township. Hettel said he is examining possible civil action on the premise that certain events affect the people of a county as a whole. However, he said he can’t think of any legal theory which applies to the situation. Hettel said he was not approached by anyone asking him to investigate Skydive Chicago, but rather he decided on his own to look at the facility in view of the deaths that have occurred there. A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration said elements of skydiving fall under FAA jurisdiction. The FAA oversees the airworthiness of planes used to transport parachutists, the credentials of pilots manning the planes and the altitude flown by craft carrying skydivers. The FAA also regulates the packing of back-up chutes, because this chute has to be stowed by a certified packer. The main chute can be packed by anyone. The FAA is conducting limited investigations into the recent deaths at Skydive Chicago, but the spokesman said in most cases, the bulk of such investigations are handled by local authorities. ------------------ Does this guy have something against Roger and/or SDC? Or is it election year? jumpervali - I think a DZ and/or DZO can be a large factor in what happens on a DZ, and can directly affect the number of injuries and deaths. If you want to discuss that one further, let's start a different thread on it. Christ... now the coroner wants to argue about it. Either that, or the media is just bored and looking for a story. http://www.pjstar.com/news/regional/g41444a.html

No no no... you've got it all wrong. Turn off all the lights in the room, strip him to his underwear, and give him a large supply of cold pizza and Mt Dew (or Jolt) and a coffee maker. Then, I saw these two guys swoopin across the pond, and I was like 'weeeeeee!!!!'
  21. Umm.. yes.. but I didn't want this to degrade into DZ bashing, and I'm not positive that's what he was under. Then, I saw these two guys swoopin across the pond, and I was like 'weeeeeee!!!!'
  22. goblue - I assume the line twists got him spinning? From what I understand, he usually jumped a Stilletto. Just trying to clarify. cderham - I'm guessing that's an unfounded rumor. What are they going to charge who with? Granted, most of the deaths there could have easily been avoided, but I'm not sure how you can find someone to blame for that. Can you file suit for SDC being too big for it's own good? Then, I saw these two guys swoopin across the pond, and I was like 'weeeeeee!!!!'
  23. The report I heard was that he was much, much lower than that when he finally cut away. All I have is 3rd hand information and speculation, so I'll let someone else fill in the details. Keep all the Skydive Chicago family in your thoughts and prayers, that's 4 family members they've lost recently.

  25. Don't get white. I hate when people have white mains, I always start looking for a freebag. I kinda like the white with blue stripes, but Lew says stripes are out, and since I'm a male, I'll have to defer to Lew's opinion. Go for the blue with white ribs/diamonds Then, I saw these two guys swoopin across the pond, and I was like 'weeeeeee!!!!'
