Tim is an excellent coach. So is Paulie (at Lake Wales now also) The most these guys ask for is slot + $5 (pack job) Which I think is just plain cool of them. They're basically teaching you for free - they're not getting anything in return for the thousands of $ they've spent getting as good as they are, the money they have in their camera equipment, gear, etc etc. I learned a lot more in one jump than I could in 10 solos. I can completely understand why some people charge you $20 - $30 + slot; be extremely grateful if you find someone willing to do it for just their slot. I'm not sure I agree with this (the jury is still out though) - I'd rather chance the 2 out situation, then overload a reserve with a good chance of blowing it up. Now add the other possibility of landing unconcious (which is rare, I'll agree - but if we agree that 2 out is usually caused by an aad and happens alot, and landing a reserve unconcious happens rarely, then why not jump without an aad?) I was actually under the impression that a frap hat was actually worse than no hat - something about it provides no protection, and actually concentrates the impact area. Something to watch for with the velcro-less: The top part of the toggle keeper should not be open! I forget who's design is like this - but look at relative workshop's or mirage systems' velcroless toggles - that's the way it should be done. Being open, there's a chance your slider could come down over the risers, and pop a toggle loose. Bad juju on a high-performace canopy. Maybe Sunpath's velcro-less system is open at the top? anyone? I've found that poking a few holes in the top skin on the canopy makes it a lot easier to pack. When your rigger tells you a bad idea, just ignore him, and revel in the fact that you're smarter than he is. Pardon me while I go all over the map on this subject... You're reaching really bad with the logic here - My money keeps a dz in business and the planes flying, not the USPA. Isn't Skydive Indiana in Frankfort a GM? Ask them what they think of the airport access fund. Because if they don't, they can't train students. If they can't train students, chances are they're not going to stay in business. And who's going to pay for that??? I actually wouldn't mind paying for that. Something the USPA could actually do that would benefit me - making sure the places I jump are actually following the rules they agreed to. I would like to know what exactly the GM Program does. I think the problem is the "rules" and "punishments" are applied whenever convienient. Bah, politics. Why can't it support itself? The thing is full of advertisements!
