in no wind, I can see putting ff out first. Or if for some reason you're doing a crosswind or downwind jumprun. Last time I was at Z-Hills, they were putting FF out first. Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

Amen Just remember, you can't believe everything you read or hear. And most people are more likely to post bad stuff about a dz/gear/vendor than good stuff. As always, do your own homework, find things out for yourself before you make a decision. Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

Yeah, I guess it could be worse dove. Glad to hear you're doing better. You'll be back in the air in no time. How did you do yours? Maybe we should start a "Heavy Metal Skydiving Club" for those of us with metal parts holding us together. I just hope I donm't have to fly anytime soon "No sir, really, there's no bombs in my shoes, it's my ankle that's setting off the detector! skymama - I'd take you up on that, but seeing as how I haven't taken a shower since yesterday morning, and probably won't until tomorrow (gotta figure out how to without getting cast wet) you probably won't want to get too near me, much less kiss any upart of me Pammi - they said I have to keep all weight off it for 4 weeks. Then I'm guess I"ll get one of those removable moon-boot looking walking casts for another 2- 4 weeks. As long as I can get someone to bring crutches to the landing area, I might be able to jump then Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

Chris - This is going to keep happening to SDC. SDC is a huge dropzone, and with that come a lot of responsibilty. People are going to watch for any litttle screw up. Sometimes SDC does screw up, and sometimes it's just different views that can make it look like SDC screwed up. You have to be perfect or you're going to get stories like this. Maybe SDC is still maturing, and in the future we'll see less of these. I think the regulars religiously defending SDC makes it worse. Let me explain - when something there does actually go wrong, people still try to defend it. Makes you lose credibility. When you screw up, admit it. People will be more prone to believe you when you're rightly defending your DZ. Did that make sense? Or did that come out more harsh than I intended? we've been through this before... you're never going to convince the sdc regulars that there's something wrong with any part of their dz. SDC does sometimes seem too big for it's own good, things like this happen. If you donm't like that, don't jump there. I love my dz - the total opposite of the way sdc is. I think I had almost every person on the dz trying to help in some way yesterday when I got injured. I think they were fighting over who would get to take me to the hospital, and I had 3 people just hang out with me at the hospital, and a number of people stop by to say hi (and take pictures.. bobo you ass) And somehow, all my gear and my car ended up back at my house before I did. So which is better? Vicodine or percocet? I have both sitting here. And what goes well with that? Corona or Miller Lite? Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

Thanks guy and girls... You can see from the still picture, it doesn't look likw Bad landing.... nothing I haven't done a few hundred times. Slightly cross-wind, little front riser turn going into it... no big deal right? As near as I can figure, I planed out just a little late, got my feet up under me, then one hit a rut, and dug into the soft muddy ground. My foot stopped moving, the rest of my big ass didn't. The small bone in the lower part of my leg (Tibia?) had been broken about 10 years ago during a freak paint-ball accident (some sorta thing, a muddy hill was involved) well this time we did one of those spiral fractures to it. And just for good measure, I went ahead and broke the big bone down there too (fibia?) So... 3 screws, 2 pins, and a big 'ol cast later and here I am, out for 4 - 8 weeks :( Thanks to everyone at the dz that helped out (once they figured out I was actually hurt, and not just laying there for giggles) And Harold for driving me, and Dave and Carrie for hanging out with me as I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours.... I'm sure that' not how they wanted to spend a nice sunday afternoon, but it was really nice having someone to talk to to keep the mind busy. Be careful out there, wierd shit can happen... Oh well.. time for more drugs.... Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

Are girl scout cookies made from real girl scouts?
wildblue replied to wildblue's topic in The Bonfire
If so, they're pretty tasty... and addicting. Those girl scouts must do a lot of crack. I think I'm going to gain 5 or 6 pounds this week from girl scout cookies. They're evil. The work of Satan. They should change their slogan to: "From Satan's kitchen to your mouth!" On the upside, they're cholesterol free... yeah.. .that's it... they're healthy for me then!! Ad-Aware (not adware) is a nifty little program. If you use Kazaa, it'll find the spyware stuff Kazaa puts on there. Once you tell it to remove it, oddly enough, Kazaa stops working. Hmmmm.... http://www.cexx.org/ is a nice litle site explaining some of the spyware/adware stuff that's out there. Someone go dump a bucket of ice water on him for me. It's 33 degrees and cloudy here - I couldn't do that even if I had the body to. Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

Yup.. cleared that up, thanks! Excellent site by the way. I don't even fly, but I found it interesting reading. Not to take this thread completely off topic, but I do have a question for you about the "Hooking" jump run - what does that do to seperation between jumpers? I've experienced a carving jump run at SDC before, and just assumed to leave an extra second between my group and the group in front of me. Is that what you expect the jumpers to do? Chris could probably give you the correct answer on this question. I *believe* it's something along the line of a pilot in a single engine plane, flying for the purpose of his passengers exiting before landing, must wear a bail out rig. In a multi-engine plane, he (or she) doesn't have to. Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

So what you're saying is, our culture is resposible for the downfall of society in the rest of the world? Damn... we are evil evil people. Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

Ah.. yes.. that would explain that part When jumping your protrack for proof, get it in clean air. Inside or even on the side of your helmet isn't going to give you an accurate reading. Find someone with the little leg mount thingy and see if you can borrow it. That should get the reading at least closer to accurate. Excellent stuff. Could we get Sangiro to give you an article section? So that these tidbits of useful information don't get buried in the forums? Never argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience

What Phree is saying is that between your altimeter telling you what your altitude was a second ago, and the time it takes your brain to register that number and deploy, and the angle that you look at the altimter (assuming it's analog, you can factor this out if using a digitude) you could be a second or two behind the 'actual' numbers. That will easily add 150 - 300 feet to what it's actually taking. Which means: That puts you right in the 600 ft range, like he said. I was thinking of that too. I wonder if they'd let a ski jumper wear a birdman suit. But it's a weird track, because you have to balance tracking "up" to hang in the air longer with tracking "out" to get the distance. My "Theory B" is starting to make more sense to me... I think the few times reserves have been known to not survive a deployment have been when the person was still headdown/standing. Or possibly in such an unstable attitude that most of the opening force was taking by half or less of the system.
