At least you had a reason. This guy wasn't sure why he was nekkid, where he had come from, or where he was going. Good story, tho. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

I just got ground rush watching the "stable" one. He went for main once, then reserve once, then "waited for the cypress to fire"??!!?!?!?! Fuck that shit! I'm not going to stop going for my reserve until I've impacted the ground. It was neat to see the saves on the guys in the mid-air collision, which is the main reason I purchased an AAD. I was implying that it was "quite a feat" because a skyhook works very quickly and it's hard to even begin the reserve pull before the reserve is fully inflated. That's simply based off of my own observations, and the observations of others demoing the system during the same event. The vast majority didn't even bother to try to pull the reserve handle, but I thought it prudent that I completed the EP's. Sorry for the confusion. I actually don't have an RSL/MARD of any sort on my rig. That's why it was important for me to pull both handles when I did that cutaway (good practice). I'm seriously considering these devices on my next rig, which is why I was demoing them. Thank you for the clarification, though. I actually did not know the specifics of how the skyhook worked. It is, however, something I plan to fully investigate before I make a purchase decision. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

That website links to FreddiMac ( i think) which quotes the avg locked in (not advertised) rate being 5.07% with .7 loan origination points over this week. That's lower than I expected. Interesting read, really. I'm about to take the same leap in the next few weeks. Good luck to you sir! I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. What was your lowest intended hop & pop?
Sletzer replied to Parafoil27's topic in Safety and Training
Wait a second, we were just supposed to vote for intended hop & pop altitudes? I read the first guy's response about an emergency and voted based on the lowest I've ever been out. Wasn't planned before I got on the plane, but I definitely got out below 2k at way less than 500 jumps. Pre-planned jumps? Right around 3k. Unless someone farted, then closer to 2.5 I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251 -
I did an intentional cutaway with a skyhook equipped rig (3 chutes) and still pulled the reserve ripcord. I ended up having a slight hesitation with the skyhook and managed to get the reserve cord started before fully under a reserve. With a skyhook just getting the reserve started is quite a feat. I kinda felt like a moron pulling the reserve the rest of the way out, but pull it out the rest of the way, I did. That's my only cutaway so far, and I want to have all the experience and reactions possible to pull both handles. Good point about following through the procedures no matter what. A borrowed rig with no rsl, gear malfuntion, etc, and the difference in pulling and waiting can be fatal. That's completely my approach to the situation. Ask your local instructor, in fact, ask several. Get as much info as you can and form the best educated decision that you can. That applies to most situations, and it's really the best you can do. I could have sworn when the two CASAs were flying at Skyfest at Skydive Carolina in '08 that the loads were 34 people. And that was WITH the FAA getting on board & counting seatbelts. I thought that was a normal load, maybe I was mistaken. Skydive Carolina does have a large runway though, perhaps that factored in. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Old school joke: Let's get off the subject of Moms, 'cuase I just got off yours. I digress.... Stacking empty beer bottle cases into the form of a couch or chair is not acceptable furniture. It is cool when you're wasted, but not acceptable. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

Something just feels a little off the first time you do one. It's all about the still air and extreme quiet. You can hear people that jump before you accelerate through the air. If they shout anything from a good ways below the basket you can hear it. Plus the "door" is 360 degrees around you. I've seen more than one experienced jumper really hesitate before climbing out, sometimes another jumper has to get in their head to get them relaxed and ready to jump. On exit you get the stomach in your throat sensation that you don't really get jumping airplanes. Once you get your B license go do one and you'll know what I'm talking about. It's an incredible jump, but feels quite different. Make sure to put it on your "to do" list for jumps. I was just saying that if you feel unconfortable at the open door of an airplane, you're going to be really unconfortable on a balloon. You get past it though, it's all part of the fun. Just the punch, it seemed provoked. The ensuing crap on the sidelines? That looks like something that could get you kicked off a team. He obviously couldn't get his shit together and just go to the locker room. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

I don't like needlessly hanging out near the door because of the thought of a pc or reserve going out before I do. Anything above 1500 and it's all gravy with me as far as falling out. Below that to 1000 is okay too, but you add to the pucker factor exponentially. If people think they have an issue with the door on a plane, I'd like to see them on their first balloon jump. That's where the fear of God is put in you the first time I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

Discount jumps @ Skydive Atlanta. August 29 & 30.

Okay, since I don't have an RV, is it okay if I pitch a tent in the grass behind the hangar, or should I just plan on crashing in the loft/hangar. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251 -
I agree, but in some places it is harder to obtain those craft beers than others. I live in a college town with one small local brewery, and we're fortunate to have even that. ATL is like a mecca of mico-brews comparitively. The big three bridging the gap might tempt me to buy more "premium" beers, as long as those beer companies don't react in turn and increase their prices as well..... which is really the bigger fear. Anheuser busch increasing their prices could set off a price raising chain reaction and end the world as we know it!! Ah F*ck it! I'm still going to have a when I get off work today. Cheers! Last I read, it was lower-end brands like busch and natural light that were skyrocketing in sales. I guess they feel the potential for profit is there with the whole product line to increase in price. This is affecting a whole slew of beers, some we may not initially associate with these companies, but are produced by them nevertheless. Sucks to be us. ... just because they can. All product lines from Anheuser-Busch (Miller & Coors are responding and doing the same) are subject to increases. http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/Dispatch/market-dispatches.aspx?post=1236196&_blg=1,1236196 Noooooooooo! F*cking Belgians are ruining everything!!! BASTARDS!!! (no offense to the non-offending Belgians) I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon.
