Songs saved to the hard drive are more than likely still there. As Murrays said, its generally just the information on the I-pod that is most commonly deleted, not the songs on the hard drive. The default location of I-tunes purchased music is in the following path: C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music The files should still be here if nobody set a specific location. If they are not here, you'll need to do a more diligent search. If you are positive that you cannot find the files and that they have been deleted somehow...there is still hope. When a file is deleted in Windows, the information of that file is not erased. Windows just disregards that file and pretends it doesn't exist eventhough that file is still there. Windows just doesn't allow you to see it.(the same goes for Mac too.) The problem is when you decide to save a NEW file to the hard drive. For example...If I were to delete a photo, the photo information is still there...but if I were to save a NEW photo, windows would write the information of that new photo over the information of the old photo. The more the old photo is overwritten the less likely it is that it will be able to be read. Just like crossing out a mistake in a sentence with a pencil. So, if you are sure that the files are deleted, you'll need to buy some cheap data recovery software that will allow you to see the entire contents of the hard drive...not just the stuff that Windows/Mac wants you to see. It will then allow you to select the "deleted" songs and save them to a DIFFERENT hard drive or a flash drive. Remember, if your data has been deleted, anything you save to the hard drive containg the songs could reduce the chances of reading the deleted data...this includes saving any files to that hard drive or even visiting websites. Also, if you go to the following path: C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\My Documents\My Music\iTunes There may be a "previous libraries" folder that will have an i-tunes database file called something like "iTunes Library.itl" This file may be the file with information about all her songs.
