Yes, that was sort of my point to Shrop...that there are frustrations on both sides, but I'm sure he understands that too... I would obviously have to agree for the most part, especially when considering the rather sanguinary persecution of the early Church and that of Christians in other countries. I haven't really adopted the old door to door approach to evangelism, but if you don't wanna talk, that of course is your choice. To be perfectly honest with you, from my experience it is probably best that you don't speak to them...you don't know who they are or what they're peddling. But if you do open the door, it's not like you're gonna find a big fat hairy moon in your face...and if you do happen to listen to what they have to say, I think discernment is very important. Yes, that is expected and doesn't necessarrily bother me too much. For the most part my list wasn't referring to being mocked, but rather, in general, negative influences that sometimes are just spewed in your face unexpectedly and from which I feel the need to distance myself, hence the OP. If you could ban any book in the world, what would it be?

Yeah, that's usually how it goes when I make bets...I probably could've/should've phrased it in a way that wasn't directed toward you specifically. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are... -
What about 'em? People know what's going on that day, I'm sure the train makes announcements telling passengers about all the asses. 1) Don't go to that area 2) Close the curtain 3) Cover your kids' eyes This is an established event, why ruin/cancel it for the sake of a few uptight parents? EDIT: Deleted rant. I'll admit, sometimes I tend to get a little carried away. Didn't mean to be a killjoy. Sometimes being cliche on purpose makes me laugh. It's not for you, we are just trying to find those who believe... There is a whole mess of ungodly atrocsities that Christians have to endure in this world, wether it's imprisonment or death by religious bigots and ignoramuses, from friends or loved ones, from the city streets, from MTV or Comedy Central, the History Channel, Long Beach California, TV commercials, War, Sports, Internet forums, FOX, MSNBC, The American Taliban....watever. ...But we shouldn't be suprised, I wonder why we even try to fight it, especially through political means....It's not out mandate. Our mandate is to preach Christ. The last thing I want is to force someone to believe and shove it down their throat as to create basely converts....haven't we learned? And for anyone that just says to shut up and keep the truth to yourself...that is the most ridiculous cowardly thing I've ever heard! We'd be gone within less than a generation. We didn't come 2000+ years by just shutting up! I will continue to preach the Word with love, but not by mitigating it's basic precepts. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

I used to feel the same way, and though I normally would say you remind me of myself, you do seem to have a tight grip on worldly logic that, I have to admit, supasses most....that may be your downfall. ...not that that makes you any better than us, no matter how much you may feel it does. I'd have to also admit that your inference was quite impressive, though that's not what I meant nor, I believe, the spiritual truth God intended to convey. I don't think I ever would've came up with that from that particular truth, even as a student theologian/expositor. For some reason God allows me to learn from you...one of those "mysterious ways" things I guess... In retrospect it is rather quite obvious, isn't it? I gotta learn to catch these things, you know? I don't know - that kinda sounds like what Bill Cole did, and in his case that which was properly mental increasingly replaced that which had a clue. I'm fairly confident that you don't know Mr. Cole...neither do I, period. But as far as Seventh day Adventism, one has to ask the question, do they saturate themselves with Scripture or the writings/prophecy of Ellen G. White? As a servant of Jesus Christ, God wants you to bind yourself to everything good, to whatever is inherently right and worthy. That task requires the use of discernment. With the help of God and His Word, you must carefully evaluate everything and thoughtfully decide what to reject and what to cling to (1 Thess. 5:21–22). As you separate yourself from worldly things and saturate yourself with Scripture, that which is good will increasingly replace that which is evil. Then, you will fulfill Paul’s message to the Romans: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (12:2). well...since you insist, looks like you guys are now gonna have to learn Greek! ...but remember, it doesn't have to be that hard. Just have faith in God and He'll guide you... I already know Greek, at least Koine Greek. It doesn't really help settle this argument. Well then maybe a third option would be to attend the Church of their dearly beloved new found pastor... ...You'd have to admit it would be pretty sweet to see Skyrider rolling up to Church on his Hog sporting a "WWJD?" shirt with an "X" tattooed on his arm. I think his point to riddler was about when Jesus died on the cross. He already gave passages in his respone to the OP that do say something about a cross. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are... -

Nice try...but very sloppy. Why did you leave out the rest of riddlers post in your reply? There have been numerous passages listed in this thread that give reference to the cross. UK: Preacher arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin

Do you understand the difference between the moral law, judicial law, and cerimonial law? Do you understand how those laws relate to Scribal/Oral Law, the Mish-nah and the Tal-muds? Do you understand that Chist did not come to abolish the Law but to fullfill it? Do you understand what it means for Christ to fullfill the law? Do you understand why Christ even had to state that he did not come to abolish the Law, but to fullfill it? Do you understand that he charged the scribes and the pharisees as hypocrites for their imposition of scribal law? Do you understand that Christ fullfilled the moral, judicial and cerimonial laws? If not, then how can you understand why many of those laws aren't practiced today? How can you understand that people today can fullfill the moral law through faith in Jesus Christ? EDIT Here is some relevant scripture: Matthew 5: 17-20 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Galatians 3:1-14 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith—just as Abraham "believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness"? Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed." So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. The Righteous Shall Live by Faith For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them." Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for "The righteous shall live by faith." But the law is not of faith, rather "The one who does them shall live by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree"— so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. (furthermore) Galatians 3:15-29 The Law and the Promise To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified. Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, "And to offsprings," referring to many, but referring to one, "And to your offspring," who is Christ. This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void. For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise. Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary. Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one. Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are... -
