Wow...That is one of the most depressing stories I've heard in awhile. I feel compelled to write a screenplay about this. How tragic... I find it interesting that you would use that story to take a political jab at republicans rather than recognizing the tragic injustice here. This man was entrapped by the press, alienated from society and eventually lost everything before a somewhat lonely death from cancer, simply because he was gay. The only uplifting part of this story is the comfort and support he received from God through the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Spokane during his illness. A few family members also supported him along with his ex-wife from 1990 who was with him at his death and stated that she wished "he could have lived long enough for his reputation to be restored to the place of honor that he deserved." Now you may say that he's just a corrupt, hypocritical, child molesting conservative, but he's been cleared of any charges. The accusations of child molestation come from guilt by association at best. He was never implicated back in 1981 when his friend David D. Hahn was charged with sexual abuse, and reporter Bill Morlin was never able to find a link between West and the alleged sexual abuse committed by Hahn. Even the FBI cleared him of any criminal activity after searching and seizing his personal items.... ...and all this for what? Because he messed around on gay.com? Now you may say that he was a hypocritical gay man that supported legislation to keep homosexuals form working in schools and daycare centers...and his response to that highlights what I touched on earlier: From article: "If someone hires you to paint their house red, then you paint it red. Even if you think it would look better green." Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

I tend to take note of levels of Hypocrisy I think that if we really examine those "lower" levels of hypocrisy, we would find that it's not hypocrisy at all...the word hypocrisy gets thrown around way too much these days - it's practically cliche. So fighting against homosexuality will only lead one to become homosexual? Sounds like liberal propaganda to me. No................ it looks like and sounds like some good ole boys trying real hard to prove they are not really gay after all.. but keep failing. That's fine...politicians make easy targets. - I guess people find it humorous. ...but at the personal level, I highly doubt that even you would be "hypocritical" enough to laugh at someone else's personal struggles with sexuality...We all fail, especially when it comes to love...isn't that right? Oh no, politicians are hypocritical liars...who'da thunk?!?! I really don't care to get into politics, but just for the sakes of argument - If a politician smokes, does that mean they should oppose legislation that bans smoking in public places, less they be deemed a hypocrite? I dunno, perhaps they should be applauded for holding the will of the people above their own? Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

I don't condemn anyone...that's beyond my pay grade. First of all, I don't condemn the love one man has for another....I condemn the lust. ...but yes, you are correct - sin is sin. It becomes an issue when people try to justify it. I sin, but I try not to make excuses for it...and I certainly don't try to justify it with verses about shellfish. "9For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things" Not all things are for all times. Most serious scholars of the Bible recognize the Dispensational relevance of certain Truths for certain times and not for others. ... AKA Cherry picking the parts that are convenient to believe and the parts that are convenient to ignore. You may want to reexamine your argument. (If that's what you call it) There is nothing convenient about the following verses: Lust/Adultery - Matthew 5:27-28 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Divorce - Matthew 5:31-32 “It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. Retaliation - Matthew 5:38-42 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you. Love Your Enemy - Matthew 5:43-47 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. The real cherry picking is coming from those who tend to be more self-serving with their interpretations, ie., those who attempt to justify homosexual behavior by equating it to verses about shellfish.... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

If there is anyone here who would actually make an honest attempt in understanding, then I think a good place to start would be back at Mathew 5:17-"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." Apparently Christ's actions were misinterpreted to the point that the people of the day thought that Christ was attempting to abolish the law, the same way people today think that Christians reject OT law. The key words here are "to fulfill." To understand what it means for Christ to have fulfilled the law, is to understand who Christ really is and the harmony He brings between Old Testament Law and New Testament grace. ...But to emphasize Ron's point, this type of understanding doesn't come by merely going to church and thinking about fishing. I don't think so. If you look at 99% of crime stories you'll notice one very specific thing happens at the end; the criminal are ultimately brought to justice. That is the psychological basis of pretty much every crime story; reassurance that the "system" ultimately works. That's certainly true to an extent, but it all comes down to how the writers and directors want you to feel about particular characters. If the writer/director wants you despise the bad guys, then they will be portrayed in a manner that does not appeal to us in any way. If the writer/director wants you to like the bad guys then they'll be portrayed in a manner that seductively appeals to our deviance in an attractive way. Do you really think that people are binge watching Dexter and Frank Underwood anxiously awaiting for them to be brought to justice? These characters are portrayed as powerful, smart, cunning and manipulative men that can back themselves out of any corner. They are portrayed in an attractive manner that appeals to the darker side of our humanity and uncompromising pride. I suppose a good analogy would be how "good girls" seem to be attracted to "bad boys" in one way or another....but who knows, maybe I'm just over generalizing. Throughout history, it's been estimated that nearly 70 million Christians have died for their beliefs, yet the faith has survived for over 2,000 years. The idea that the internet is somehow going to obliterate Christianity is just ludicrous and nothing short of wishful thinking. Now it's possible that Christianity may cease to exist in 100 million years, but by then evolution will have allowed pigs to grow wings...so there you go. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

Ok, so everybody basically hates crooks and respects hard workers. We all despise the Bernie Madoffs, but throughout history our culture seems to have a peculiar fascination with the the Bonnie and Clydes, the Mickey and Mallory Knoxes, the Gordon Gekkos, and the Frank Underwoods of the world. It seems as though we hate the reality of ill gotten gain, but deep down are infatuated with the idea of it, that somehow stirs our emotions with excitement, as if it's an innate desire yet to be fulfilled. Do people only hate crooks that don't have some type of sophisticated style that appeals to our intellect and/or sexuality? Stock brokers across the country engage in a form a legal front running. They've invested hundreds of millions of dollars into sophisticated software and hi-speed fiber optic networks. It's a pretty complex system that, among other things, can track trends and predict buyer activity....but the balls of the system is an automated process that allows the broker's network to "front-run" any transactions in a fraction of a second, thus jacking the price and selling it back to the "previous" buyer for a few pennies profit....mega-skim, lol...and it's legal! Does anybody hate these people? Personally, I think the ability to orchestrate the process is rather impressive... and I don't mean to laugh, but there is a silver lining. In the past, the crooks were always a few moves ahead and eventually able to "beat" the system...But now, trust is a big commodity creating new companies who are hip to the vulnerabilities and willing to make an investment into preventative security. We just made a commercial last month for a company that strictly provides people with a detailed history of their current or prospective financial advisors...It's just like CarFax, but for your money. It now actually pays to be trustworthy... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

So I'm not the only one who thought this thread was about some kind of male hygiene product? I'll admit that I laughed when i saw the title of the thread...but knew it had to be something religious...I mean, who uses the word "purity" anymore? They could've at least called it a "don't be a slutball" and add a little stigma to it all... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

Almost everybody in this secular society feels that good sex is necessary to have a good relationship...and that is just a lie. We fail tremendously when it comes to monogamy even though most us envision monogamy as a virtue. Too many relationships revolve around sex because humans lack self control. It's a rare thing to test the hypothesis of abstinence before marriage. "Good fucking" is not a prerequisite to love...and we all know it. Abstinence should be encouraged...faith based or not. Nobody has a problem with "MTV's Teem Mom's" that has significantly reduced teen pregnancy, but when a christian promotes the idea more directly, it becomes ludicrous... To get this thread back on track, I'd like to challenge you to provide a source to your argument about King James. Though the quotes in john about the adulteress are not found in the earliest manuscripts, they are certainly found in manuscripts written over 1000 years before King James and approximately 1600 years after Lebron.... I can see rich people "hating" other richer people due to envy...but even then, that's still just envy, not hatred. I'm big on definitions, so the jist of my post is to define what hatred really is. So, what's hatred? Webster: "a very strong feeling of dislike" "prejudiced hostility or animosity" To be honest, I think Webster takes it too lightly. What is it that really differentiates hatred from dislike, prejudice and hostile animosity? Personally, my philosophical beliefs of hatred are more closely related to murder rather than dislike, prejudice and hostile animosity. Many people have hostile prejudices/dislikes, but I believe hatred takes it to that next level...the level between prejudice and murder. It may sound ridiculous, but Christ equated hatred to murder....but why? Hatred is the same feeling someone has before they kill someone. Hatred is wanting someone to die for your own benefit. Having the balls to actually go through with it is murder. We will all be judged...we shouldn't fear various human judgements against us that are all based on insufficient information. We are so preoccupied with how others view us and actually get offended when some stranger doesn't approve of our lifestyle...who cares? We should be more fearful of the judgment of God who judges based on the truth of who we really are. If you really want someone to die, but don't have the balls to do it yourself, then expect to be judged as a murderer. It's no different than the perfect analogy of someone who hires a contractor to murder their spouse - if caught, they are still guilty whether their spouse dies or not.... So having said that, do I hate richer people? No, I just feel sorry for those who base their entire existence on satisfying some bullshit persona of achievement/elitism, as if they actually control anything in the real world. They believe they have some significance in the same world of a universe they deem as godless and insignificant. Where's your crown king nothing? I'm sorry you feel that way, but I'm not sure what "religious attacks" you're talking about. I can assure you that I'm here to play nice and provoke meaningful debate and conversation. Hint - The focus of the OP was not qualified as an "on topic" thread, thus leaving it vulnerable to legalized thread drift pursuant to the implications set forth in Sticky #3 Besides, the question was rhetorical...Personally I find the whole WWJD thing to be a meaningless cliche. Why can't we just focus on the recordings of what He actually did rather than creating stupid opinions of what he might do in a particular situation? There is already enough convoluted picky/choosy interpretations without the added distraction of hypotheticals. If you want my opinion, then this case has more to do with her behavior rather than how she looks. The school was already aware of her perceived masculinity/short hair yet they still accepted her and apparently were tolerant of her "dress" for a period of time leading up to some unexplained event(s). Her grandmother stated that she likes to play "rough and tough" (whatever that means) Perhaps she's a bully? We don't know, because there is still more to the story that the school can't disclose and that the grandmother refused to include in her viral attack. Now I'm not necessarily letting the school off the hook...If their beef had to do with behavioral problems, then they should've limit their complaint to that issue alone rather then adding some personal "customary" preference jabs toward an 8-year-old girl as if that somehow supports their argument...
