  1. that would be a good choice, or you could get a 190 and save a little money its not a huge jump and i think you would be happier in the long run I am not an instructor (but neither are you :)... but he PLANS to have an exit weight of 225-230, AFTER the winter (read: uncurrent). Surely a 190 canopy which he would load at 1.2 at 30 jumps sounds like a bad idea.
  2. Flying to China using Continental. Their service sucked to Europe, is the service any better on the ride to China? Will I get a warm meal or just bread and water? How many Continental flights did you take to Europe, and how many of them sucked ? a single instance is hardly indication of the norm. As far as I remember I have never been on a flight that crossed an ocean and did not have a meal. That includes all the american carriers you mentioned, as recently as this year. Don't remember who I flew to China with, but I was definitely fed well on that flight.
  3. You're the guy I'm talking about! I'm betting you were the playground bully. And, I may be going out on a limb when I say you can't think of a single reason to let someone merge into your lane. You can't claim this entire sport as your own, just because you aren't mature enough to behave decently. But you certainly have the option of surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals at the DZ. Every single one of your assumptions about me is wrong. Please don't build your advice based on assumptions.
  4. no, I definitely read that part, and that's where the recommendation to HTFU came from :) it's skydiving - sensitive people don't belong in this sport. You have to be able to tolerate cock-n-balls and tits afterhours, as well as what one may perceive as the wrong tone of voice during the business hours. Otherwise I recommend to buy two pairs of slacks and take up golfing on the weekends. In a more PC sense what I mean is that what you took as condescending may not have been meant to be.
  5. Let me throw in the sometimes very necessary "HARDEN THE FUCK UP, CUPCAKE". These folks paid their $$$ for the jump. They should be free to do whatever they want within the allowed parameters of DZ/UPSA/FAA, blah blah. They don't owe you any other fun jumper a right to jump with them. Whatever their reasons may be, I cannot imagine how "No that's ok, we'll just keep it at a 2way" is a rude response. He just told him that he wants to keep it a two way. No one owes an explanation of WHY - whatever the reasoning may be. jumping with others is cool. jumping with new people is cool but no one is entitled to either. maybe these dudes have been talking about that two-way throughout the whole workweek, and got their dive plan down. maybe those dudes are just assholes. either one doesn't entitle you to a right to jump with them.
  6. To answer your question, tylenol works great for me! and it hasn't been recalled lately so i'll keep using. and vigils have been so i'm going to stay away from them Don't dig any deeper please. I am unable to find any Vigil recall notices. the info on their site : http://www.vigil.aero/official-statements only deals with cutter replacements.
  7. it's a safety notice :) and a fairly useless one. Anyone who has a rigging ticket or just a tiny bit of common sense should not need it. but no, I don't dislike it, I just find it redundant - those who don't pay attention to detail - will not pay attention to the notice. And those who will read it are not the intended target audience. Plus when closing a container I find it hard to miss a cutter staring at you with that open hole :) please tie your shoes, or you risk tripping over them.
  8. The NTSB will follow shortly and release a reminder to look left when crossing the road.
  9. I have used anything from regular rubber bands to hair scrunchies in times of desperation. No problems. Just be smart about how tight the line bites are.
  10. I have a friend who packed a Spectre 190 in there for over 100 jumps. It was a good fit. Not soft by any means, but not super tight. I woudl describe it as FIRM. So a Silhouette190 will wok just a s well, while a ZP 9cell will be tight.
  11. nope, you said "i have gone through problems with two seperate units because of service bulletins and recalls " which can be interpreted quite openly. so, what kind of PROBLEMS did you have with the units ?
  12. um when i buy something i would like it work right and not have problems. so, DID you have problems, or are you just unhappy with having SB's issued ?
  13. just to be clear. did you have PROBLEMS, or are you just disliking the extra legwork you had to do because of SB's ?
  14. you can always modify (edit) the ad and upload the correct photo :)
  15. +1 take it to Deland or to TSO-D which is right down the street. Deland will charge you a comission, but is a reputable store with high traffic which is definitely worth it. TSO-D does good biz as well. of course, you can just sell it to me for cheap :)
  16. provided it truly was in great shape - I would only repack it for someone who knew what it was, and what they were doing. I would not be willing to repack for someone who just wants a cheap reserve.
  17. my only useful contribution is to remind people that Cincy crew loves the cock
  18. when I had long hair I always put it into a braid and stuck the braid inside the helmet or in the jumpsuit
  19. if everything is DOM 2002, them your AAD is a Cypres(1), not a Cypres2
  20. How old are you ? what would happen if she did fine out independently ? what would happen if she found out from you ?
  21. also, when building a unisyn harness Mirage uses Type8 webbing.
  22. If the work was in fact done by a Master rigger. it would be an approved repair/ modification in the eyes of the FAA. Resizing a harness is considered a standard repair/modification. If the design was changed to something other than what was original. that would be a different story. MEL You the nail on the head. Unless some one-off harnesses were produced, Mirage harnesses come in three flavors. • no rings • hip rings - located below teh lateral junction, pointing down • unisyn - chest rings and hip rings. chest ring are pointing outward, with the hip rings located AT the lateral junction and pointing down. this harness was obviously bastardized. I am attaching a picture proper hip/chest ring harness
  23. That is not a factory done harness. I am guessing it's unapproved too :(
  24. God Damn Ronaldo ! That's as perfect of an answer I could have expected. thank you.
  25. I understand that. But I always thought that deflecting the tail also decreases forward speed, thus the glide ratio suffers, whereas using rears only flattens out the glide and doesn't slow the forwards speed. This isn't my area of expertise, can anyone present some scientific info ?
