  1. I got two of the useless Vigil Type1 cutters myself. Was thinking of firing them in a similar experiment :)
  2. I own two RSK1 containers. I have both with Optimum126 reserves. Don't think a pdr126 will fit.
  3. I have another cutter here, and it's stamped : 092666 118A/08 MAR 2008 so my guess is that 092666 is a PART NUMBER, and not a SN
  4. Would it be possible for you to post similar pics of a CYPRES & Vigil? Thanks . I don't have any Vigils in stock, so these are archive pics also this is a good reference : http://www.vigil.aero/files/images/Information_Bulletin_-_Vigil_Cutters.pdf
  5. your house may not have risen 200ft, but the ambient pressure may have :)
  6. Wouldn't it depend on which altitude you mandate the rig user to open their main parachute ?

    Ninja2

stolen from a friend who was borrowing it. Probably the only PdF Ninja2 in the US :)
  8. It was GQ Security. I have a collection of those retired rigs I've inherrited ~ still good for teaching folks how to pack rounds. Actually the latest one was in Aug 2009 from ParaPhernalia/FreeFlight :) re: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=3670493
  9. ship using USPS - either EMS Express (faster and much better tracking) or Priority Mail (slower and shitty tracking). declare as buyer wants you to. Import duties will be ON THE BUYER. They will be quite high. You will not be charged import duties in the even they ship it back to you, since the gear already belongs to you.
  10. for all the communication/verification of the other rigger + top to bottom inspection ?
  11. out of pure curiosity, what do you pay your rigger for that work ?
  12. The seller is in Bulgaria, thus a bit broken English. The Javelin pictured is older and looks like it has a fair amount of jumps on it. Also looks like parts are missing. My guess is it's a container sized for 120 canopies (i.e. NJ) sold by someone who has bad English. nothing weird or scammy about this - the world is not obliged to speak perfect English.
  13. I really, really, really have had a HARD time keeping my mouth shut throughout all this. As have a few others who I have exchanged PMs with. Common sense suggests that entrusting large sums of money to a "extreme discount" dealer is not smart. A business like that cannot survive in a skydiving industry. The first signs started showing up awhile back, when select few started complaining about Gary. Yes, like the poster above me said, the one who got onto the Ponzi scheme early enough were happy, and thus their SINGLE PAST experience made them experts on how the said dealer is "good people". Gary's ramblings to me in personal emails were borderline incoherent and his consistent pleadings to "lease him rigs" were an absolutely insane business proposal. As far as his fleet of demo rigs. Throughout these forums he claimed to have a lot of them, and to send them to any customer who orders gear through him. How many actual demo rigs were there ? Can anyone say they saw them ? (I hear of one in Picton, that's it). Such an insane business proposal in itself was a huge red flag - a ROCK BOTTOM DISCOUNT dealer providing a first class service. It was easy to see that it is either a terribly (un)planned business or a money laundering operation. He owed me $350USD close to a year for some repacks and shipments I did for him. I finally got fed up with his excuses and had a friend of mine visit him as he moved into his "KK clothing store " in Picton. Gary did not have the $$$, but reasoned with me, and I finally got paid by Paypal. I can keep going on about the topic, but the bottom line, as usual is that "if a deal is too good to be true, it probably is". real sorry to hear about all the people who got screwed on this
  14. that would be plain stupid as IATA uses 3 letter designators for AIRPORTS (which all countries have multiples of), while USPA shows the COUNTRY of the skydiver. it's more likely that NATO Trigram codes are used :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_country_code
  15. I would most definitely choose the SpacerFoam on the legpads. If you are going to hang on to it for a long time I would also choose stainless rings, they maintain their shine and "nice" look longer than the container will last. The Cadmium plated hardware starts wearing and looking used fairly fast. each one of the attached pics has over 500 jumps as far as the backpad - it's an individual choice.
  16. I have had an identical setup. Worked well, was a "full" fit. Not terrible, but I would not want to go bigger.
  17. or you can use a climbers headlamp when climbing inside cells :) works much better on darker canopies when one wants to get really anal about inspections ...
  18. some people use a bridle extension to make sure the canopy stays centered. keep in mind a large Triathlon ( I bet it's a 220, since they do not make a 210), is very unlikely to do anything drastic when roll packed.
  19. if I could afford it, I would have a few long primes :) but most of my shots are landscape and sports, so I stick with 17-55 2.8 IS and a 70-200 2.8 IS and various extenders. Primes cannot be beat for sharpness, and as a birder you will most likely be always looking for the longest piece of glass. here's a really, really, REALLY nice one : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130498765133 I am sure you will be very happy with it !
  20. it's more likely to be a straight stitch than a zig zag, but, the very obvious differences (not brand specific) are : two knobs on the front, one for stitch length just like on the straight stitch, other for stitch WIDTH. Presser foot and throat plate will both have a side to side slit as opposed to a hole (for the needle to have sideways movement to build a zig zag). here's a link to the Consew 199R brochure : http://consew.marginspluslive.com/images/products/specsheet2007/199rbseries-WEB.PDF I have the 199R-1A and the thing is a nice machine. I also have a Singer 20U that's for sale :), and is a nice machine as well I am also attaching a pic of the Singer 20U, this one has different controls on the front
  21. If the machine is local, go check it out. there are gems to be had. I just got a Consew 226R-1 in mint shape + table for $350 seems like cheaper household things (like couches) generate a lot of replies but very little people actually show up.
  22. the giraffe gave a lot of photo ops, it just posed for us :) shot with 7D + 70-200 2.8 IS and a 1.4 extender
