  1. Seller Protection info : https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=security/seller_protection_learn_more And I call BS on them never notifying you. They have a Resolution Center section on their site, and once the Buyer opens a dispute the Seller has chance to fight it. re : https://www.paypal.com/bg/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/securitycenter/sell/SellerGuide-outside I have been on both sides of the Disputes with Paypal, so I am going from first hand knowledge when I tell you that the system does work.
  2. So the USPS fucked up, but you recommend we don't use the payment processor ? Paypal mandates a proof of delivery via a signature confirmation of delivery in addition to proof of shipment for any item over $250 in order to use the seller protection services. Signed, someone who has processed millions of dollars worth of payments through Paypal since the late 90s, as well as has shipped thousands of packages through USPS/FedEx/UPS
  3. Personally, I think it's a bad idea. But it also seems that in the US we do things more conservative than in Australia (assuming that's where you are due to B-rels reference). And to be clear - I prefer the more conservative approach. My first two canopies were a 230 and a 210 which gave me a .9 and a 1.0 WL respectively, and I am very glad that's the route I was recommended and chose to go with.
  4. I run both the older and the newer NMU packages on Win7 64bit just fine. Perhaps run teh older NMU in compatibility mode ? re : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows
  5. Thank you for willing to provide your reasons for your decision. It's refreshing to have someone have THEIR OWN reasons as opposed to "so and so has told me so". Just another data point for you to consider : You won't be hanging on to your first couple of canopies for too long, but at the same time you will still be very new at packing, so a hybrid (be it Pulse, or something else) is a very good combination of rock solid performance and much easier packing. Don't cheat yourself :) When I sell gear I am always excited to source a Silhouette (the most common hybrid out there) in the persons beginner rig, because I know they will be laughing at all the newbs at their DZ who got brand new slippery ZP canopies.
  6. Why ? your other popular contenders are the Pilot and the Safire2, although the Pilot is made with F111 ribs, so you may consider that hybrid as well.
  7. On a similar note, a long time jumper and a very well known Master Rigger Moe Viletto has told me something that makes perfect sense as far as the pack opening bands are concerned : Most of the wear on the bands happens when the band is being hooked up to the eyelet, as at that point you actually stretch the the elastic more than it would be stretched if it was already set. Made sense to me. To further add data to my point I recently had a chest reserve which had sat with the bands attached since 1983 - that's 29 years of storage - the bands were nice and elastic and did not feel stretched out. I am guessing this can be extrapolated to the spandex BOC's as well. My other data comes from getting many rigs that have sat with the PCs packed up for 5-10-20 years and there's no imprint of the PC in the pouch, nor have I noticed any loss in elasticity. Hope this is helpful
  8. They are speaking Russian. Starts off with very strong swearing, equivalent of "fucking motherfucker" Follows up with "moron", after which the car starts to spin and he says "quiet, quiet (equivalent of "relax"), don't worry guys, we will make it, we'll make it". Once the truck passes and the car faces the right direction and starts coasting to a stop, he says "all normal, all good"
  9. Can you explain this please ? I own both. thanks !
  10. I have been jumping the same size canopies for the last 5 years, and am about 15lbs lighter than I was back then. does that count ?
  11. He didn't state where he was from, therefore the answer Sparky gave was a prudent one since most participants here seem to be American. If the original poster had wanted to limit responses to only things which apply in France, then he should have said so. So the error lies there, not with Sparky. Pardon Sparky for trying to be helpful. The poster has FRANCE stated right below his name, no need to even click on their profile. Pardon me for paying attention to the very obvious. Are you going to send me another "Fuck you" PM now ? And you have a blank where the license number goes - should we all assume then that you don't have a license? Let's face it, you were too quick to be nasty with your reply. Sparky didn't deserve that. And with your last sentence, you demonstrate once again that you're too quick to be nasty, thereby confirming my original comment, and also that you deserved what you got by PM. Sure, you can make that assumption. And it shouldn't affect the validity of my reply or of any prior or subsequent posts I make on these forums. There was nothing nasty about my reply. I simply pointed out that the OP was in France, and that mandates from a US regulatory agency aren't helpful to them. It's very convenient to justify yourself to yourself, ain't it ? Why can't we just agree to disagree ...

  13. Quoting an FAA standard to someone in France is not really productive...
  14. I have an RS1 and RSK1, have Optimum126s in both with an AAD. No problems with the fit.
  15. I have recovered two complete rigs to their respective owners in the last 12 months solely due to the stolen gear list. it helps to have a police report filed in case the gear shows up a few years later you will have an undisputed claim to the title.

  17. that makes no sense ... and from personal experience, it's completely not true
  18. Sure. As soon as you tell us what's the best car out there.
  19. Yes. But 20 year old gear can get to a point where lots of wear is happening on multiple parts of the rig. This may be the case here too. Absolutely. And thats why i stipulate that it should NOT be a matter of age only - i.e. it should be a functional problem(s) that retire gear. I have an almost new Vector2 made in 94 laying here, and i dont think it will be unairworthy in 2 years...
  20. Probably should ask a rigger, but I know on PD Reserves, there are 20 checkboxes. After it's either been used or packed 20 times, they expect you to replace it. I don't know if it's required or not, according to the PD literature. Your knowledge is completely flawed on all counts. PDR is supposed to GO BACK FOR A RECERTIFICATION after either 25 rides or 40 repacks, whichever comes first. As you can imagine that is accomplished with more than 20 checkboxes (39 or 40 depending on when it was made)
  21. If your rigger is dogging your gear simply because of age, get a new rigger, and tell your old one that you are retiring their services for no good reason but just because you think they are too old to get the job done right. And as a side note PDRs have either 39 or 40 checkboxes depending on the age, not 20 as someone suggested.
  22. Shift in the harness and counter the turn with weight shift. This way you will have a straight flying parachute and your toggle input will be equidistant

  24. interesting article http://www.couriermail.com.au/questnews/moreton/emergency-services-called-as-stray-parachute-lands-in-redcliffe-carpark-just-missing-pedestrians/story-fn8m0yu3-1226248341642 a bit overdramatized... "However, all three witnesses felt the parachute, with its metal fastenings, came down fast and it took two of them to carry it off the roadway." - Duh...Probably because of the amount of material, not because of the weight ...
