  1. Even I can say that it's incorrect. This canopy would be a dog compared to the true CompPC, considering it's missing a turn slot from each side and some of the rear drive slots. left side image is of the factory CompPC
  2. Bzzz. Just the container sizing is all you need. A J1 or larger should be no problem with a Pulse170. A TJN may work, but I have never personally tried it...
  3. I fail to comprehend your first sentence, but I agree with you last one. Still, I am of the opinion that a Beginner forum will do more harm than good.
  4. I don't think it was offered in 2002. Ask for pictures - presence (or absence) of Spacefoam is a very easy thing to spot. Wouldn't you want to see the pictures of the rig before you commit anyways ???
  5. The few that I had were 100% high quality units. But that was awhile back, so no guarantees :)
  6. I am of a very strong opinion that a dedicated Beginner forum encourages complacency. Thats exactly what happened on the BASE forum. We are not basket weaving here, complacency kills. If someone is too dumb or lazy to figure out how to find appropriate info and decides to take an easy way out of asking for their hand to be held, then they should only skydive with an AFF instructor or strapped to a TI. I remember very clearly being a new jumper and even back then the info was widely available. My good friend, a Master Rigger and a veteran of 42 years in the sport keeps saying "we pussified the sport and made it too easy", and i cant help but agree with hiim. When i see a guy celebrating his 100th jump and then ask for help packing his main i feel a bit nautious.
  7. WS jump with a Cobalt150 loaded at ~~ 1.4 opened up into pretty severe line twists, caused due to uneven shoulder on deployment (you can see risers being uneven). I couldn't kick out, and the thing had me on my back picking up speed. Had an identical cutaway 3 weeks ago on a Spectre, and for the exact same reason :)
  8. Taking pictures of your screen with a camera is as useful as putting a brand new engine in a car with no wheels. Ctrl+Print Screen Paste (Ctrl+V) into whatever you used to crop the pictures you took of the screen. the color choices all look nice
  9. so far you got good answers, but let's be a little picky about wording. You are looking at older DESIGNS, not older rigs. Vector3 build in 1996 is much less likely to give you a mal when freeflying than a Dolphin built in 2002.
  10. did the part that said HELPFUL HINT : If you are doubting that you want to buy this canopy, then you probably shouldn't be buying it :) Not make you think twice ???
  11. It's definitely a parachute (came with a slag and a container with 1.5 shot capewells :). I am quite confident it's a Mark II PC with a removed rear panel for better drive (and thus missing the ID markings) and patched vents on the bottom most of the skirt rear
  12. I thought it's a PC, but upon closer inspection I am not sure. The canopy is all taffeta No data panel, but I can see factory panel ink stamps. The amount of turn slots threw me off, as did the the number of vents in the rear. My best guess is that this may be a modified Mark II.. Any clues ?
  13. This has been going on for years. And for years I have been cleaning up the ads. I have brough this issue up a number of times, but unfortunately it was never attended. When the ads are parentless, I cannot delete them from the Editor interface. The posting of duplicate ads without a category happens when the user has oversize pics, and gets errored out due to size, but still hits Post. Implementing a simple check to make sure the Category variable is not NULL AND is passed onto the posting process should solve this... or so I think.
  14. Tip #1 : READ more, post less Tip #2 : Roam around DZ and see what people say, and ask questions Tip #3 : Don't be lazy, and don't expect to be spoonfed information Tip #4 : If in doubt, start reading at #1
  15. Well Wendy by the end of the week, two days of jumping (8 jumps++/), they kind of look like poop. Does that mean you have been to the dropzone for a total of 12 (+/-) times since you got your A license ???? As in 4 days every year ??? OCD is an understatement. Unless of course you are the type of dude who siphons the fuel out if his car every time it's parked for more than a few days.
  16. It is mostly similar to a Stiletto (it flies flat and has an Aspect Ratio of about 2.5) This canopy measures out to 175 sq ft and has a packing volume of 410 cubic inches. old school semi-elliptical canopy, which was quite hot in the 90s, but does open very firm. as far as ZP or F111 - If you cannot figure that out, you have no business owning a canopy.
  17. My personal preference are 7 cell canopies of the Spectre/Triathlon class. Today I got a holy fuckload of linetwists after jumping a new to me larger WS (Venom). I proceeded to calmly unzip my arms/legs and kicking out. No big deal and landed fine. I have been in similar situations under a Cobalt and Crossfire2, and both resulted in chops.
  18. how about a ParaCommander clone from scratch ? Someone did it and 40 years later sold it to me :)
  19. Just to be clear : Have you ever turned a Vigil on before ? The ON sequence is to press the button after every time the red light turns off, that's a total of three times after the initial press. I am not trying to be a smartass here, but if this is a new to you unit, then this could be a simple RTFM moment that you skipped. good luck either way !
  20. I'd pay exactly whatever a wall decoration piece is worth to me. every dollar you put into that canopy in order to make it airworthy is a dollar wasted.
  21. ++++++++1 A lot of regulation seems to be done due to either : a) overinflated "instructor" egos OR b) as a followup to a terrible accident that happened due to someone being a moron (i.e. would have happened regardless of regulations) Let's not forget that we are all adults throwing ourselves out of airplanes, let's try to treat each other as such.
  22. They arent gonna ask you for money, they are just phishing for identities. A copy of a passport is a pretty convincing tool to prove to someone that "you are you". This week there was also a batch of new classified ads listing China as their locale. They were generous enough to offer me a 20% discount on an already attractive price of 699USD of a new Cypres2. Just needed to send them a wire. Oh, and free shipping too !
  23. And I remember one guy landing a wingsuit into a pile of cardboard boxes. But that is hardly the norm and trying to replicate that with no training AND under duress is probably going to result in a radically different outcome. You know, there are always outliers in statistics, and using them as a baseline is never a good idea.
  24. Survival is keyword. Get serious, what's wrong with it, am I going to bring down a crashing plane? Oh, am I going to disrupt your crouching position? Would you jump at 300ft and get stable before pull? Now you are just arguing for the sake of arguement. If you exit and pull right out the door you get a much cleaner airflow for the PC. In fact, time it well and you get to deploy into the relative wind which is much more horizontal thus (at least in theory) resulting in much less altitude used up for deployment. If i was at 300ft and was foced to jump AND HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO SETUP i would pop the reserve, pull the neatly folded canopy out of the freebag, coil the lines up in my dominant hand and exit on my back with the canopy "brick" close to my body to protect it from the wind. I would take the split moment it takes to clear the tail and put the canopy into the airflow. This WILL work just fine from 300ft (provided it's executed correctly) and is much cleaner than pulling silver in the plane and chopping out the door. Of course it also takes a good amount of practice to do right. Luckily i have a comfortable amount of various unpacked BASE jumps and trashbag jumps from various aircraft.
