  1. Have fun and good luck -- it's the best training that I never want to repeat. Ever...
  2. That is true for ground units, but all of us flyboys use nautical miles.
  3. Hamblen County I grew up just east of Knoxville. I haven't lived there in 13+ years though. I get back to visit some and would like to do a jump sometime there.
  4. I'm coming over for vacation, but I won't arrive till the 29th, shame I'll miss you. I guess I'll just have to meet some folks when I get there...
  5. I'll be traveling to Oz for the first time just after Christmas. I'm already registered for the Holiday boogie at Sydney. Is anyone else going to be there? I'm sure I'll meet plenty of people there, but it'd be nice to know a couple of people before I go.

    What do you do?

What do you do? I am an F-15C Pilot in the USAF Where were you born? East TN, haven't lived there in 13 years (standard nomad military life) What drives you? To use a quote "I like anything that goes fast enough to do something stupid on" Motorcycle racing, jumping, snow skiing, travel, etc...
  7. I bought an 07 GSA back in March, 15k miles later I absolutely LOVE that bike! I was worried because it's the first non-sportbike I've owned, but honestly my Aprilia doesn't get 1/10th of the miles on it that it used to! I'm a Beamer fan now...
  8. I ride street, race superbike/supersport. Been racing since '97. Didn't do too much racing this year, I developed a skydiving habit...
  9. Chuck Norris once moved a stationary front. Chuck Norris once brought a baby lamb back to life by rubbing it with his beard. He then broke the lamb's neck. The moral of the story: The Chuck giveth, but the good Chuck, he taketh away... Chuck Norris was actually the 4th wise man. He brought Jesus the gift of 'beard' which he proudly wore his entire life. The other wise men were jealous and had him written out of the Christmas story. The makers of street fighter spoke with Chuck Norris when they realized that every input to the game resulted in the Chuck Norris character doing a round-house. "It's NO mistake!" Replied Chuck. Chuck Norris and Mr. T once got in a fight. Chuck landed a roundhouse kick at the exact second Mr. T landed an uppercut -- the result was the 1980's.
  10. In the AF we just have to fill out "high-risk activity" paperwork with your commander. Just like riding a motorcycle... Sorry.
  11. Yes, we all work as a team, but saying that the Navy can take over for the AF is rediculous. Talk to some Navy fliers, they take off and are almost immediatley on a "profile" so they have enough gas to practice landing on the boat. Yes, I'm sure that landing on a boat can be challenging. If you get right down to it with those guys, they'll tell you that once you get over the initial idea of it, it's not that hard. (anyone know what a velocity vector is?) My point wasn't to start an inter-service fight or anything, but you can't do away with the AF or the Eagle.
  12. I'm hoping you are joking on this one. Navy can fly the jets? No, Navy can land the jets on a boat. Actually training for combat is not something the Navy guys do very well. The Marines are decent, but neither service has single role aircraft (which you NEED if you want to win a real war.)
  13. I'm an F-15C pilot 35 pairs of testes, no flying breasts, 3 pairs of office-worker breasts.
  14. I'm a USAF pilot, all of our dental work has to be checked to make sure there isn't any trapped air behind it. Not a big deal until you get a decompression at high altitude. That wouldn't be fun. It can happen though. I've also never had problems with my fillings. Lots of similar questions from non-fliers at airshows. (and at my DZ) My favorite is when they ask me how many times we have to eject in training.
  15. I finished my a licsense about a month ago. I try to get at least a jump a week. (3 on sat). I'm def hooked. I've been kicking around the idea of getting my single-eng commercial (only have my twin) so I can fly jump planes. I don't need the hours or money though and it would cut into my jumping time!
  16. So how many people from here are going? I'm bringing 3 others with me. First time to the event, anything I should know?
  17. I've been a pilot since about '95 (never been a jump pilot though). Definite brotherhood of pilots. Especially all of us military guys, it's a close knit group. Much like the divers seem. (I'm a noob)
