Hey, don't be knockin the Tweet! That airplane was a blast to fly. Millertime: Good luck, I went through CAFB in 00-01, keep the faith, it's a long year but a good one.
-
: 12 : 0 Can't wait till the wife gets back in the country! I had a blast at West Plains also. Good to meet everyone!

I wasn't sure if it would grab you on the first episode, but I liked it. That definitely went on the DVR schedule.
-
Yes and no -- it reminds me of work (good and bad). Anytime I'm not on an AF base though I love it.
-
Nice to meet you and Pete as well! Catch you next time.

F-15C - thanks, i'll look him up today.
-
Same, but only when I'm working/flying.
-
Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to make it to Davis tomorrow after I land and put the jets to bed. Maybe Lodi on Friday? I'll call and see what's open.

A man is at a pet store. The owner says he has an amazing frog. Guy sees the frog, nothing seems unusual or amazing, so he asks the owner. Owner wispers to him that this frog gives the most amazing blowjobs in the world. Man pays $50 for the frog. Late that night his wife hears a racket coming from the kitchen, walks in to find the guy & the frog covered in flour, eggs and milk. "What the hell is going on here?" She says The man replies: "If I can teach this frog to cook, you're outta here bi*#h!!!"

I just found out that I'm going to an airshow next weekend. We'll arrive to Travis AFB on Thursday the 28th and not leave until Tuesday the 2nd. I see that Davis and Lodi are near Sacramento. Anything big going on at either place over Labor Day? If not, $15 to 13k sounds good at Lodi!

Ok, let's race! (I'll use my ride in the rear of this pic!) [inline PIC-0019.jpg] (RSV Mille race bike not pictured)

I was terrible (and still am) at flying games on Nintendo, Sega, whatever... I never could get passed the tanker on that Top Gun game on Nintendo.... Going to a real tanker? No problem.... Simulating going to the tanker? Get an 8 year old!

Really? That seems believable to you? 17 to 1? It's not an x-wing fighter with lasers; it's a jet. I've fought Raptors a lot, it is a great jet. Lots of my friends fly them. But, 17 to one? C'mon... I guess they forgot about the times that they got gunned 1 v 1... It's more than the jet you fly -- it's about who's flying it. The Raptor is awesome, hands down the best jet in the world, but it has issues and nothing is beyond defeat.

The tail hook on the eagle is used for emergency landings on the runway. Think of a carrier set up (cables) but stretched across the runway. Close, but the cables on the runway are not arrestment cables like the boat. (stop you in yards) Our cables run out a good distance (dependant on weight and speed) -- could stretch 1000' or so.

I've made them put specific details on those standard forms. They should also list high value items on a separate form. Just ask the guys that pick it up, it's never been an issue for all my motorcycle racing stuff.

Yup, sure am.

Officially anyway. Groom Lake and Tonopah Test Range are known to have mig's and SU fighters. Obviously I won't get into classified information. However, this IS the first time SU-30's have been to the US.

Indian Air Force SU-30MKK's arrive at Mountain Home AFB. This trip is the first time any SU-30's have been to the US. It's going to be a good two weeks...

Ok, any boogies going on? I want to get some jumps in on July 4th's long weekend! Who's got the big planes in the NW?

I've been riding for 21 years and have owned 14 or 15 bikes in that time. (i forget which), I've had only two "incidents" but I landed in the hospital for both of them. One of them I got there in a helicopter and was in the trauma ward for 2 weeks. I started racing back in 96' and am still an avid racer. (although skydiving has seriously cut into my race weekends!) Now you know sorta where I'm coming from. Riding is dangerous, but so is living. Bikes are great but they will kill you if you don't respect them. You can't be a new rider and respect a 750 or 1000cc sportbike. It's just not possible. Hell, even the new 600's have almost as much horsepower as race bikes I rode in the 90's. CC's are relative -- don't let the fact that someone says "buy something between 600-750" lure you into something you can't handle. There are 250's that new riders shouldn't be on. (Aprilia 250 Cup, NSR 250's, etc, etc) A 600cc sportbike will (usually) have WAY too much power for a new rider. Most people start on them because they are the easiest to find (sportbike wise) and cheapest. (normally) First thing you need to do is decide what type of bike you want: dual sport, cruiser, dirt, sportbike. Then, you can get some help deciding which one is best. A 600 or 800cc cruiser won't get you in trouble as fast as a 600-750 sportbike. (not saying they still can't kill you though!) As far as riding to the DZ... I ride my BMW R1200GS Adventure to the DZ every weekend. I usually put my rig in the side bags, but have strapped it to the back seat and worn it over my shoulders. If people are worried about the pilot deploying while riding down the road -- check your BOC! Because if it could come out riding at 65 mph, what's keeping it from an early deployment when you are falling at 120+mph??? I still have a race bike, but I'm getting too old for it (I think...) -- I've put 17,000 miles on the BMW in about 8 months of riding and in the same time only about 200 on my Aprilia Mille. Go figure....
-
I LOVE my '07 GS Adventure -- hands down the best, most versitile bike I've ever owned!!!
-
I have both. I've been a die-hard sportbike guy for years and years. I race a 00 Aprilia Mille R and still ride it on the street occationally. When I lived in England, I rode the Mille all the way to Italy and back, then Finland and back. Last year I bought an 07 BMW R1200GS Adventure. Since buying it, I've put 17,000 miles on the BMW and abot 300 on the Mille. I can drag my knee (and cases) on the GS, but still carry tons of stuff, have my GPS and my heated grips (thank you very much). I've passed many a sportbike in the twisties, although it's not even close when we're talking power! (sportbike all the way) I still get my Mille out when I want to rip for real, but the BMW is awesome. I highly recommend it. Plus, I can put my rig and all my gear in the BMW and ride the twisties to and from the DZ.

I went to Skydive Sydney for the New Year boogie -- excellent DZ! Friendly people, nice facilities and plenty of outs. (not to mention a skyvan, Pac 750 and Turbine Beaver at the boogie). I dug that place!

I'm in the USAF, flying F-15C's. Skydiving is what I do to relax!

Good luck and keep your nose to the ol grindstone. The whole UPT process is a marathon, not a sprint. Jumping rocks, and noone ever thinks it will happen to them. I've had lots of buddy's over the years that have hurt themselves and missed out on flying opportunities. Do well in UPT, then you'll get to fly what you want. If I'm not deployed, I jump every day that I can get to the DZ. It won't always be against the rules, but if you get caught breaking them early, your options for what you fly later could be restricted. (i.e. they don't put dudes in single seat jets that can't follow basic rules like speed limits, off-limits bars and no-skydiving rules...) Just my .02
