1. I wasn't even addressing the xenophobia angle. Is it really called "xenophobia" to be concerned that your way of life, your quality of life, and your own culture are under threat of being subsumed by a population that are not even in your country legally? Hardly. If it were any other culture, and it was white Americans loading into the place and demanding English be printed everywhere, etc. etc., there would be an outcry that we were destroying the indigenous culture. 2. I consider it "skin off my ass" because I'm expected to keep up with whatever it is that black people want to be called this week--and what it's forbidden to call them--and if I slip up I'm a racist. It's not like I'm walking around saying, "Hey, did you see that negro?" "Black" is a contemporary term and it is neutral. If you come back with, "Well, it's not 'neutral' to them," I would say, "Then neither is 'white,' and in order to not be racist, everyone has to refer to formerly 'white' people as 'Light-skinned-Americans." Call me white, and you're offending me, and are a racist. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
3. He dumped Sheryl Crow...he's an idiot! Have you forgotten?: "I don't care how hot you think she is; someone, somewhere, is sick of her SHIT! And I'll bet one of those someones is Lance Armstrong. I get the sense that Sheryl Crow could be a big fuckin' bitch... Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
4. I had already read something about tilapia being a fish eaten by peasants. Wikipedia says some stuff about them having trouble getting along with other fish, and also that they are often considered an invasive species, troublesome particularly because they eat vegetation. And it says they also eat "detritus," which "typically includes the bodies of dead organisms or fragments of organisms or fecal material." OK, so I guess you never ate a carrot, or a tomato, or a green bean that was fertilized with COW SHIT. See, some of us are smart enough to realize that shit is just chemicals, and while I would not eat shit directly, I understand that when an organism, be it a plant or a fish, takes organic materials in and digests them, that organism whips up some chemical magic and MAKES SOMETHING ELSE OUT OF IT THAT IS NOT SHIT. Sort of how that cow shit got turned into your delicious tomato. And let's not even talk about mushrooms... I ain't worried about tilapia. Tuna's the bigger worry, since all the mercury ingested by all the fish all the way up the food chain ends up in the tuna, which I guess you would be happy about as long as it doesn't eat detritus, and is the big bully tough-guy fish in the ocean. Yeah, somehow I can see you favoring the bully tough-guy fish... Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
5. Who said I was an editor? I can edit, that's for sure. Now, you might want to take another look at the words I used. I did NOT say that yours was a spelling error. I said that I found enjoyment that you were CORRECTED in your post (which was about people's spelling errors). So once again, you've had to be corrected. This time it was for going off on me when you were off-base about what I'd actually said. Keep shoveling. You might get there in time to watch some Olympic events, at the rate you're going! 7. I do tend to believe that the British... and the Canadians.... might have a different "history" concerning blacks... than what we have in THIS country. They certainly have had differing opportunities in the last couple centuries. "Different from," not "different than." And what does opportunity have to do with what to call an ethnic group? And are you saying that there is any less opportunity in the U.S. for a black person than there is for a Canadian black person? We do have a black man running for president. Oh, I get it, that one doesn't count because Obama isn't black enough for you to consider him black. I know there's gonna be some excuse why "the ability to actually be in the running to be president of the U.S." doesn't count toward proving that blacks have opportunity in this country. 8. EWWWW oh man WTF is that smell... oh... another one of your posts Carry on... There is nothing you can say that can rob me of the joy I got from the fact that you were corrected in your own post about people screwing up their spelling. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

Forgive me, I am jaded: I keep waiting for someone to find evidence that he used performance-enhancing substances. I just don't trust ANY high-profile athlete anymore, and all the less when they are that much better than everyone else. I don't know anything about the guy, but my first instinct is to doubt that everything is on the level. The Olympics are a fucking farce. I can't believe anyone pays attention to it anymore. They have done everything but change the name to the "Crass Commercialist Dishonest Athletic Games." That's about what they'd have to do to make it any more obvious. 11. It bothers me that in this report by an Associated Press writer http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/P/PEOPLE_MURRAY?SITE=FLPAP&SECTION=ENTERTAINMENT&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2008-08-16-00-13-26 they say that the pair are connected by ROPES... That had me picturing some sort of Gilligan's Island jute-rope tandem rig... Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
12. We call them Americans. If you mean what do we call black people we call them Black people, (which is what they call themselves) That's my point. If black people are just called "black people" (if they have to be called anything at all), why do those in America insist on "African-American" even if they were born here and never have even visited Africa, but if a person is black in England, or Canada, he's just going to be "black"? That was my original point, and through all the digression, we have somehow returned to it. Imagine that! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

15. I just came back from the grocery and fish stores, and I fried up some Tilapia in seasoned bread crumbs. OMG it's so yummy!! So, what's your favorite fish if you're gonna bread it and fry it? If you say "other," please explain. And if you have recipes you wanna share--go for it! P.S. Tilapia is my current favorite. It's mild and flaky and cheaper at the store than any of the others!
16. You have a hundred other threads to bash America over Iraq. A sovereign democracy is invaded by communists, and all you liberals can think to do is bash America, which is doing nothing more than peacefully trying to make Russia stop. I would like to see you America-bashers cease your mindless bashing long enough to give an honest answer to this question: Do you approve of Russia invading Georgia? Answer Yes or No.See if you can pull yourself away from your America-bashing long enough to actually consider the seriousness of this world event, on its own. Forget about America for five seconds. Try really hard. After failures in Korea, VN, Iraq and Afghanistan, it makes a real hard argument to think the US should continue its attack for Democracy. Don't worry, the US engages in conflicts with puny nations and then turns them into proxy wars, this will be no different; we won;t directly fight the Russians, we will supply Georgia with arms to fight them. Then there's that little debt thingy...... My thanks to JohnRich for proving just how hard it truly is for a liberal to ANSWER A FUCKING YES OR NO QUESTION! Nice job, JohnRich! 18. As long as you believe in your self created fairy tales - yes. It seems you still believe in the holy crusade to free the poor. What an old BS. It's nice to know you are stuck in your corner of the world. Stay there. You seem to specialize in hit-and-run, terse, hateful posts. Wow. That kind of bitter bile inside must be hard to live with. 19. So it seems that most people around the world object to the U.S. involving itself in foreign affairs. Fine. We can go back to being isolationist if that's really what they want. And we can tell everyone to go fuck themselves the next time a tsunami comes around with their name on it. Or the next time they can't handle the aggression of a psychotic dictator. 20. Couldn't have said it better, JohnRich. Thanks! Man, the things you'd have to ignore and pretend not to see if you wanted to be a liberal... (Oh, by the way, I couldn't vote in the poll. I was too disgusted by the misspelling of "hypocrisy.") Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
21. Are we losing track of who the mice and cats are in this analogy, hmm? I think it started out that the cats are the illegals who show up to pick up whatever there is to "eat". The mice are the meal-ticket (the folks who decide to employ the lackadaisical loitering laborers lavished upon us by liberals' largesse). If that's the case, then you're talking about getting rid of the customers (contractors, etc.) who shop at the store. Hardly a worthy goal here. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
22. We still have the insurmountable problem of figuring out WHO is right when they claim to know what God wants us to do. You might have noticed by now that different people have vehemently different beliefs about that... Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

Labyrinth

Yeah, there's one in Stony Brook on Long Island, near the duck pond. I walked it with my dad, but like the one in your picture, it's not the kind with walls like in the Greek myths. You can't get "lost" because you can just walk right across it. I would love to do the real kind, like the hedge maze in The Shining! But I don't know where there is one. The hotel in the Shining was actually filmed at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. I've stayed there during New Years Eve Balls and they put on a great event. One year, we made our reservation late and the only room which was available was next door to Room 237. I couldn't sleep at all for the sake of hearing sounds of bigwheels roaming up and down the wooden floored hallways. As far as the hedged maze in the movie, I think that's in Oregon somewhere. That would be fun to go through too. You stayed in the room 237? "You're scared o' room 237, ain'cha?" I found out a while back that the exterior shots for the movie are of a hotel around Mount Hood, Oregon, and the exterior shots for the t.v. miniseries from '97 are from that hotel in Colorado. I read somewhere that the interior shots are actually a SET! I was pretty surprised by that. I wonder if they meant everything, like even that big room where Jack was typing... 25. Torture works quite well to extract false confessions. Then wouldn't we do better to address eliminating the use of torture, than throwing out the confessions that it elicits? And if we can't manage to keep torture from being used by American legal authorities (police, etc.) what hope do we have of ever having any confession to any crime be trustworthy in a court--capital case or not??
