Negative. Not unless it has changed, and not unless Olav's own website is wrong... http://www.fij.cc/olaf/License.asp?AD=A Two rotations on any of the three axis of your choice (but different for each rotation). I do remember hearing about someone who did the test upright. Much much more difficult to both fly with your arms and manipulate the ball with your hands than to fly with your legs and have your hands free. Canuck

No problem switching cameras later, as long as it will fit in the box, the adjustable L bracket will accomodate it. And if worse comes to worse, you can always remove the box entirely and mount whatever you want on the flat side surface... Canuck

yup Canuck

I never found my FTP very comfortable either - stable as hell - but not super comfy. I don't know exactly how many jumps I put on it, several hundred though, and it never really changed. I think it depends on your head shape. As to the original question - ever see pictures of people like Norman Kent flying HD with a 16mm film camera strapped up top? Canuck

You mean Precision's standard HMA linesets aren't cascaded. PD's comp lineset is, same for Icarus I believe. They just don't last very long. Canuck

Both are awesome rigs. The choice really comes down to the little things like aesthetic preference, price, delivery times, etc. The important stuff like quality, safety, and comfort are all close enough to equal between the two that neither stands out as better. I personally really like the look of small Voodoos (size 0 and smaller) but think bigger Voodoos look weird (especially once you get up into the V3 and V4 sizes). I've had a couple Voodoos and put a couple jumps on a G4. Canuck
-
Of course you do. Hope your profile is wrong though, because it really isn't a canopy for someone with 300 jumps - I think even Dan would agree with that... Canuck
-
Just my opinion Dan, based on both jumping one and jumping with one under my own Velo. They've been on the market long enough now that if they were any good, nevermind superior to every other cross-braced canopy out there as per the marketing hype, we would be seeing them in competitions. Lemme guess - the reason we aren't seeing them in competitions is because Atair doesn't have a sponsored team. Three letters - JVX. Maybe piece of shit was strong wording. They open nice, but besides that, they just don't keep up. Canuck

You mean planform to planform? No, no, no - It's the platform that gives a canopy a nice long recovery arch Canuck
-
Nonsense. While there may be variation within set characteristics, characteristics certainly do exist. VXs have very high front riser pressure - that doesn't mean it's a bad canopy. Stilettos have a short recovery arc - that doesn't mean it's a bad canopy. If there were no characteristics, we wouldn't know what kind of canopy to buy... Canuck
-
High front riser pressure is very characteristic of VXs. Velos are better, Xaos are best. The Onyx has pretty low front riser pressure too, but it's a piece of shit... Canuck

Mavericks are 200 sq. ft., 7-cell, F-111 of the same vintage as Furys, Cruislites, etc. It's a very outdated canopy, but as long as it doesn't have more than a few hundred jumps on it, and has been reasonably well maintained, it would be a fine beginner canopy. Very forgiving, very docile, very easy to pack. My first canopy was a Maverick. It opened, flew, and landed nicely for my first couple hundred jumps. Canuck Canuck

There not made for one size of canopy, they're made for a small range of sizes, just like any other container. The fact that the closing loop is attached to the bottom flap makes it more difficult to put something way too small in the Voodoo, but doing that on any other rig is usually a stupid thing to do anyway. Most of the Javelins, for example, I see with flaps and riser covers blowing open have a main in them too small for the container. Canuck
-
Voodoo. I've got a Wings and a Talon FS now that I got good deals on second hand when I was downsizing my canopies, but my two prior rigs were Voodoos. I would have gotten Voodoos again if I had found as good a deal... Canuck
-
Great rigs - I've had two of them. The harness is very comfy and the container is bombproof in terms of flaps and riser covers. Some of the early models had some issues with the riser covers. I personally don't think they look as good in the larger sizes though. Canuck

Fatalities sucks, but at least the numbers are way down for people dying with a perfectly functioning main canopy over their heads... Canuck

Can you elaborate on this or explain why? Canuck

2K Composites - FF2 - Who's using this helmet?
Canuck replied to Dumpster's topic in Photography and Video
I went from a Flat Top Pro to an FF2, and the only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner. It fits great, is comfortable, super light, and provides a plenty stable platform for a video and a still. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the paint belongs on a Porsche. Canuck -
Can you make a living as a tandem cameraman ?
Canuck replied to lintern's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've got my two skydiving rigs, two base jumping rigs, ground launching setup, hockey equipment, skiing gear, bicycle, rock climbing gear, basic tools, movies, music, some art, computers, books and basic furniture... Dude, you've been down South too long and corrupted by American materialism if you think this list even remotely qualifies you as a minimalist... Canuck -
I'm not so sure that Anaomoly needed anybody to let them take control. I think we saw the same thing with the Flyboyz a few years ago, same with AZ Freeflight, the various Olav teams, etc. Win a few big comps to get some street cred, and then focus on how to make a living at skydiving, not just skydiving a way of life. Like I said, just a guess though. Canuck

Training/competing is expensive. Coaching/organizing is profitable. Rook has a dropzone to run. Just a few guesses, Canuck

I was just being gentle... Canuck

The most perpetuated un-truth in the lens industry... I think the Roayl .3 is an OK lens, but there is very obvious distortion and bluriness around the edges of the images it produces. Canuck
-
Go .5 (or something equivalent) for tandems. I've used a .3 on a few tandems and didn't care for it much. It's just wider than it needs to be for the job. A big problem with a video lens that wide is that it becomes very difficult to match a still lens (without spending a gagillion dollars) and having incompatible lenses really sucks. If you're not shooting stills, then it's less important, but there is still no reason to go that wide for tandems. Canuck

That's a fair argument. I think the freestyle event is the most spectator friendly of them all, so perhaps that's exactly why points are in fact awarded in freestyle for stand-up landings. Canuck
