anyone's got a spare 50$ for our friend Sangi!?
DocPop replied to virgin-burner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
OK, three points: 1. You have not given a reason why you are flying what you fly despite several requests from several people. You go right into justification mode and start throwing out reasons why you're different. I did it - guilty. So did Sangi - guilty and fucked up. 2. I have a Sabre2 150 in my profile, and it was there when you posted that I had no info. 3. You complain about me thread-hijacking and stalking and then you perpetuate the argument with another post and three posts of mine (talk about stalking). You don't have a defense for what you're flying, dude. That makes all your statements hypocritical. "The ground does not care who you are. I doubt he'll reply to you on this one, although I called him out on it and he started reeling off excuses for why he is different here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4193633;search_string=1.9;#4193633 He subsequently deleted his post but not before I quoted it in my reply. Ironically, one of his arguments was it was only a Safire. Now what was it that Sangi was flying.....? "The ground does not care who you are. "ratting out" one someone; would you do it!?
DocPop replied to virgin-burner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
and this is only "recommended".. how about you're getting your facts straight first!? and if you havent noticed, a safire2 isnt a katana. it is not a HP-canopy. i land my saf within 10ft every time, in all wind-conditions, not long ago in a quarter-sized soccerfield with fences on each side on an injump. and i've put around 100 jumps on it since i've got it. i'm not even mentioning the education i've gone through with it. so.. i think we're talking a couple different things here.. if you have a personal vendetta take it to PM and let this thread stand as it is. thanks. This list of excuses and "but I'm different" reasons is just the sort of thing you would expect that guy to say. I know. I've been there. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA -

you stated in the other thread that you "learned from it" - i still would like to know the circumstances HOW you learned from it. your reply suggests that you STILL havent learned; so please explain yourself! No, I said "I have learned my lesson". If you're going to quote me get it right. I did not learn it from some would-be canopy sheriff telling the authorities about me. I am not going to go any further. You set up a poll - you got my response. still the same piss-poor attitude as you used to have. sorry for not going to exaxtly look after the crap u've posted, i have that much of a life.. I'll ignore the PA, and go straight to the facts. 1. I am telling you I have learned some stuff, and you accuse me of having the same attitude. I no longer have the KA135. I learned through someone talking to me, not through some heavy-handed laying down of the law. 2. You sound like you're trying to make out that you're trying to keep this guy on the straight an narrow and within safe canopy choice guidelines. However, if your numbers are correct, you are at 350 jumps, jumping a sub-120 sq ft canopy loaded at nearly 1.8 - which exceeds the manufacturer's recommended WL of 1.6 [Reference: http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/301.html]. That is just hypocritical. How about you set an example before "ratting out" other people? You're always there with a dig, a snarky remark or an attempt at a witty comeback but you add little value. Again, you set this poll - if you can't take the fact that someone posted a view you didn't like maybe you have some growing up to do. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA -

No. It's a personal choice. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA -
I don't know why you think the 120 is holding me back. It is a nice responsive canopy which at a WL of 1.7 is giving more of what I want than the 135. Would I prefer a smaller, crossbraced canopy? I don't know. I haven't flown one yet. I resurrected this thread to update the fact that the end cell closure I was suffering appears to have gone away. That's all. No hidden agenda. It's really not that incredible that I am not dead yet. It's not as hard as everyone seems to think to fly a medium-loaded canopy. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA

No troll. Last week I got a new 120 and I am not doing 270s with it. I went back to 90s. Don't want to rush things. I am surprised by how much harder the rears are for just one size smaller. Just dropped in to update that the openings are much better on my new Katana 120 - quicker, more on-heading and with less end cell closure. Apparently Katanas like to be loaded up a little more than I was doing. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA

My time here is done. It seems I have the wrong personality type for DZ.com and it is time to leave. The skydivers I know in person are pleasant, supportive people, but many on here just enjoy drama and conflict. It is such a shame. I apologize to any and all that I have offended. Peace out. How do you think your satire went down, if indeed that's what it was? I understand you went through a similar "phase". Would you have responded favorably to that sort of thing? "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA

Bill slides in for the win. Actually I think Bill slides in and gives you an out. I have never claimed to have 640 jumps and a rating like the OP's person. Re-read what you wrote. It does sound like an accusation of lying. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA

Mow the yard? Take out the trash.? Wash the cars? Wit 25 jumps in 18 years - you have no business on those canopies. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA

What do you want your canopy to do? Are you interested in canopy flight, or just want to get to the ground uneventfully? A few more clues as to what you are looking for in a canopy will help narrow the range of available models. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA

If I was going to lie it would be easier to just say I had 1,000 jumps and stop making myself a target. Being called DGIT, "Mad skillz", "idiot" etc is fine. It's just dz.com games. But I am not lying about my experience or canopy. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA

Negative. But I have 13 years military experience in the UK military. I never wear any insignia of my old unit, but I don't care if the Walter Mitty types want to. It's their freedom. You really think I am lying? It ain't that difficult to do what I am doing. There are guys on here with Velos loaded >2 with 500 jumps. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA

I am in a similar place to you. First jump 21 years ago. Only active in the last 4 years. "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA
