:12:0 8 tandems, 2 AFF's, 1 tandem video, and played rabbit on one pretty fun 10 way tracking dive. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

I did find the canopy little "hot" to start with. But it only took a few jumps to get to know how the canopy flies and lands , and have been very impressed since. As for heavier passengers, then again it is no real issue. I have taken 15 1/2 stone in nil winds and had no issues landing. How well does the HOP shut down? In the videos I've seen online, they're all beach jumps where there's usually a little breeze (and I noticed catchers on several). I've got an Icarus 330 and 400 and an EZ-384. I want to replace the 384 soon and was leaning toward an Icarus 365, but the price difference on the HOP sure is attractive, especially if it flies as well as most people are saying and can shut all the way down. (I'm at 2200 ft MSL with moderately hot summers and a somewhat uneven and rocky landing area...sliding in isn't always fun). Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

HEY! I can still hear you two over here. At least have the courtesy to wait until I'm out of the room to talk shit about me! Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
Totally depends on whether I'm alone or have assistance, if the latter, what we're doing, and how much time I/we have to spend. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Pat . . . Not Gregg . . . Where is ol' Gregg these days? At the bottom of Black Lake...duh! (Unless he's on his honeymoon). Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

I ordered a rig in late February that I'm desperately hoping will by here in time for LP (late July). I can't try to sell that particular rig during our six month season when the build time is running 5-6 months, or at least not with a straight face . . . "Congratulations on graduating student status! Order a brand new container now and you can be jumping it next year!" Sooo . . . I'll wait another month or two and then hope the build time has shortened before trying to sell to people who aren't going to hit this season regardless of which manufacturer they go through. In my case... Forget it...everybody is now waaaaay older than you, the hottie you dated weighs 340 lbs, and all your ex-friends have lost their hair. The Most Likely to Succeed guy is still in prison, the geek is rich and living on a yacht in the pacific, and the hippies are now fervent Republicans. The Valedictorian is homeless with no job, the drunk owns a distributorship and the shop teacher has finally learned how to use his new bionic hand. All in all, not bad results for Florida's educational system. I've already noticed from my class reunion web page that they're all WAY older than me. So after having been a total fuck-up in high school, if I show up with a college education, a decent career (not including skydiving instruction), and a hot, smart, funny 26 year old girlfriend, I ought to win, right? So he thought some engineering types and perhaps others might find it interesting? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Everyone should stop giving you shit and consider the context. When you were in high school 40 decades ago, greek love was at considered quite trendy! I'm still trying to decide whether to go to my 20 YEAR reunion this fall. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Probably, but the write-off on the company side of your taxes would likely have to be balanced by including the fees as income on the individual side of your return. If your doing a Schedule C or something similar in which it all ends up on your 1040 anyhow, there'd be no net benefit. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

I don't understand why Bush wont support Stem Cell Research!
livendive replied to goofyjumper's topic in Speakers Corner
Ding ding ding! It was said that 70% of Americans support such research. So those 70-percenters just need to put their money where their mouth is, and pony up some donations to do it on their own, without taxpayer funding. Don't take money from people who don't agree with it. Liberals: Quit your bitching, and donate. Or do you prefer to be charitable only with other people's money? The problem is it's THIS charity he doesn't want to sponsor. He'll give my dollars to all those he does support (faith-based charities, defense contractors, etc), and he has no problem spending my money to kill actual people. I'd have no problem with his position if he made it an across the board denial of funding for research and/or charity, but when he denies support to one item due solely to religious concerns while simultaneously giving money to religious entities, that I have a problem with. I'd prefer he let me keep a LOT more of my money and decide for myself which causes I want to help fund. Personally, my favorite quote from him today was: It just sounds ridiculous coming from him. Actually it wasn't, but I'll accept the designation anyhow. Does this mean I'm now qualified to play online pinochle for hundreds of hours per month? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

What should Livendive waste his 10,000th post on?
livendive replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
FYI, he's still at 9,999 posts.... Must be waiting for something special. I think he used it productively Uh...not exactly. Blues, Dave If that post wasn't it, what was? Did you notice the time of that post compared to the top of this thread? Anyhow, it was a request for a blowjob along with an explicatory photograph that coincidentally accomodated Erin's (and Clint's ) request above. Apparently recycle bin posts no longer show up in search results. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -

You are serious right ? Do you consider the 200 + Marines killed in Lebanon, ON A PEACEKEEPING MISSION a legitimate Military target ? How about the cooks in the galley, in the Cole, getting ready for noon chow, while the ship was fueling when the "terrorists" blew them to red dust ? Where they legitimate ? There is no grey area here ,Dave, if its soldiers, legitimate members of an opposing army, I would agree with you. These guys are such a loose associtation of radical nutcases they can never be misidentified as such. I didn't say anything about the targets being legitimate and don't think they were. I'm just saying that I think of terrorism as being attacks against primarily civilians with the goal of causing fear within the surviving population. Attacking the Cole and the Marines in Beirut was something different that I'm having difficulty picking a word for. That doesn't mean I condone or excuse the actions. In any case, it's merely a case of symantics for me and not something I'm going to argue vehemently one way or the other. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
-
Once again, I'm not particularly invested in this argument, but I don't think I'd consider attacks on a US airbase, naval ship, or marine compound to be "terrorism". They are military targets. Embassies are a bit fuzzier, as they are supposed to be protected soil, however they are clearly extensions of the US government, as opposed to malls, diners, trade centers, etc. I think government offices might fall in the ever dreaded grey area. I'm curious what other instructors are using as a rule of thumb for staying or getting current, mostly with an eye toward students. It seems fairly common to require a repeat of the last level when more than 30 days have passed, but at what point do you require refresher training? At what point do you make them start over? What about "novices" (cleared for solo jumps but not yet A-licensed)? And licensed jumpers with a long time out of sport (several years)? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" For those of you suffering from Tinnitus (ringing in the ear)
livendive replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
Cool! See? I'm not always an asshole post whore on here... I wouldn't go that far. I HATE being reminded of the non-stop ringing. Now I'm stuck with not being able to ignore it for the next day or two. Thanks Billy! Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
