  1. Wendy, the l plate looks great, How are you mounting it to your helmet though? Thanks Chuck
  2. So I am putting my camera helmet back together and trying to find ways to configure it. I'm jumping with a bonehead flattop pro, a sony cx 100 a canon 5d mark iii and at times a flash. I'd love to see what other people are jumping and how they have their gear configured. Thanks in advance for sharing.
  3. almost 5 years ago after several years in the sport. I took a pause from skydiving. Work, school, a career, relationship changes all contributed to me leaving the sport. I sold my rig and thought I was done. Over the last 3 years I've rented gear every now and then and I'd make a jump. After moving to California and life settling down a lot I've decided to return to the sky more frequently. I bought a rig today, it will be ready tomorrow and Monday I'll be able to get back in the air. I may or may not eventually renew my tandem ratings, I haven't decided yet but either way I'm excited about making new friends and creating new memories.... It's time to skydive
  4. I'm looking for some idea on how to mount my camera vertical on my flat-top pro. Is anyone making mounts? thanks
  5. Anyone Jumping with a canon 5d mark III? What are you using for a bite switch? Thanks
  6. When I first moved out here I was looking to pick up a second hand sport rig. I wouldn't have bought what he tried to sell me especially for what he was asking. YMMV, Value is in the had of the consumer. Good luck
  7. 3 two were line overs and one was a bag lock.
  8. Is anyone else having a problem with Sky Systems site. Every time I try to open it I get a warning that the site may have a virus... Not sure what the issue is, same thing on different computers and different browsers
  9. Man it's hard to believe this boogie has been running for 14 years! Great job keeping the loads cranking Chris.
  10. Life, School, Family and work took it's toll on my skydiving. I got back in the air today for the first time in almost a year. It felt amazing to be skydiving. I went to a small drop zone in tracy California and met some great people. I've found a new home DZ and a renewed love for this sport. It's good to be back on here too, many familiar names and some new ones as well..... Many of the same arguments though, funny, I guess somethings will never change. Be well Chuck
  11. I checked out Lodi today. Granted it was bust when I went but the little short guy was a bit of a tool. He tried to sell me a beat up container with a saber 2 in it for 6,000.00 Seriously? Not impressed. I'll check it out again but I certainly won't be buying gear there.
  12. I moved to California from Florida about 8 months ago. Before I left, I thought I wanted to get out of the sport, I sold my rig but still have the rest of my gear. Anyway, l've really been missing the sport and want to get current again and buy a new rig. I've hear horror stories about Lodi, which is probably the closest DZ to me. I'm living in Modesto which is about an hour from Sacramento. Can anyone recommend a DZ that's not hours away? I was thinking about Monterey Bay but the reviews don't look to promising there either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Chuck
  13. lol Manifest isn't going to be happy with people buying one or two tickets at a time are they....
  14. concur. I'll continue to state the unpopular opinion, but I would question how some of those transitions look on the final product. Between the two videos linked, a couple of the transitions are dreadful in both proximity and camera angle, and the really quick transitions certainly don't end up looking good on video, it's too quick for the viewer to process. If you snap a quick transition from one position, do a complete rotation and return to the start position, you've achieved nothing. If you transition from one position to the next, your goal was the new position, and a quick transition get you there. If you're just trying to toss a complete rotation into the video, then it needs to be slow and controlled all the way around, a quick snap is just 'noise' in the finished product. With that said, it's clear that both guys have a great deal of experience and are working at a fairly high level. The single example of their work that was posted is probably not (if you ask them) their best work, and what they would want to be 'judged' by. It looks like one of the local TIs just shot some handycam footage of the camera crew on random jumps and posted them just for fun. As an additional 'however', before the masses pile on and tell me I suck and am boring, I fly in a similar style on all my tandems, with freeflying being a part of literally every video I shoot. I'm not against the 'freedom of expression', I've just learned that there's a line you cross where all you're ecpressing is your lack of respect for the end product and your need to gratify yourself at the expense (figurative and literal) fo someone making their first, and possibly only, jump. I've spent many years and quite a bit of time shooting tandem videos, and if you ask for an opinion about how to do it, you're going to get it. If you ask that opinion as a highly experienced jumper and camera flyer, you're going to get a very specific, pointed opinion that assumes you have both the ability and desire to work and produce at a very high level of quality.

  16. Time for an external had drive maybe??
  17. Ryan, what time do you go on Mondays? I can get out there for a couple either first thing in the morning or for an even jump. Any other days you can go? Chuck Bryan
  18. hey, I just moved to Oregon and I'm looking for a dropzone. I've looked at the ones listed here but wanted to get some feedback as to where people are going. Thanks Chuck
  19. Well, everything has come together. However, it looks like the needs of the company are going to require me to move to Portland. Gotta start doing some research, it's going to be a interesting ride. Thanks to all for the advice.
  20. I've seriously considered CA and it sounds like people have a lot of good things to say about it. What's the rent like there say for a 2 bedroom condo with a one car garage in a decent area?
  21. I have a job offer with a major medical staffing company for a position as a regional director. The region is the west coast basically, WA, OR, CA, ID, NV, and UT. The stipulation is that I have to live somewhere in one of those states. This job is a really good career move for me not to mention a nice raise in pay. So I am going to take the job. I lived in Seattle WA for a short period of time but other than that I dont know much about the west coast, I was looking at CA but the cost of living seems really high. Right now Im thining Reno NV but Im still really up in the air about it. Other than skydiving I am a very active runner, cyclist and swimmer I really want to try to find an area where I can at least skydive run and bike year around. Im currently in Florida where I can do all of the activities basically year around. Any input as to anything or any place I should consider?? thanks Chuck Bryan
  22. Who's Michael Zang? I thought the record was held by Jay Stokes. Am I confused?
