  1. I used to fly one. Here is my review: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gear/review.cgi?ID=300 Bryn Journey not destination.....
  2. I see that, and as I said before it aint moving.... Tried brute force, tried ignorance, tried getting friends to move it, tried (non-roundy ended) scissors, nothing and then there was a tug, snap and pop and bingo..... Have no idea why it wouldn't move. As for the certification well put it this way I got an hour lecture/practical (thanks Neil) from the Strong Conversion IE and zip from the Vector IE........go figure. That would splain ma iggeronance..... Anyway, thanks for taking the time to show me, and I suspect quite a few others how it should go. (Even though you were beating on my sorry ass....will let it go this time but next time.....hahahah) Cheers Bryn Journey not destination.....
  3. Unfair, getting double teamed here. Ok, did that and guess what............it didnt move Guess why?? Cos I have no clue...... Can you send a drawing or something in braille for me?? I'll get my scissors to it and let you know how that went....... edited to add: Cheers Neil for the safety tip, but you know I am only allowed to use the round safety scissors after the last time.......but we'll keep that quiet Cheers Bryn Journey not destination.....
  4. Am I going mental here???????? The chest strap attachment to the MLW is fixed on my harness. Unlike the one on the Strong harness which moves freely up and down. So unless you suggest a pair of scissors, that strap aint moving unless I lengthen and shorten the MLW. But if you wanna come and show me feel free. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  5. Had me doubting myself there...... I am sat here with the harness in front of me and the chest strap does not move up and down the MLW like the Strong chest strap does. Yes it does move when the MLW is shortened or extened, but cannot be positioned like the Strong can. As for the hip rings, no biggie. Like I said before there is very little difference, in practice, using both harnesses. Each one has reduced the amount of complaints and feelings of nausea my students have had. 6. The BPA ought to be ashamed. I am no advocate of the way the BPA non-elected staff are not held accountable. Given that, my point was not to denegrate your achievement. Just to reinforce that there are instructors out there who would have been more than capable of taking you, had they not been "hamstrung" by the BPA "system". Once again, well done. 7. Too true. If the harness is right on the ground then it is right in the air. I did a quite a few jumps with the new strong harness and when adjusted properly I never had a complaint nor a "spewer" in the harness. I like the strong harness more than the sigma harness. Although it is a close thing. The moveable chest strap and hip rings on the strong harness are a real bonus. A combination of the best bits of both harnesses would prove a winner. 8. Not want to put a downer on your great achievement but... Your complaint about not being able to train in UK is because of the BPA "system" not the enthusiasm and motivation of the instructors. British Instructors are no less qualified, motivated or committed than any other, however they have to work within the BPA framework. Congratulations on your completetion of your AFF, and it is a pity that you had to go so far to do it. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  9. My order of preference: Aerodyne A2 Sigma 370 Icarus 365 Hop 330 EZ Set 400 BT80 Paratec Twin I prefer the all round capabilities of the A2, closely followed by the very similar Sigma 370. If I had to jump the Paratec Twin all day I would give up doing tandems....... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  10. Some of my favourites. Not 'cos there fantastic shots, more because they have something memorable, for me, behind them. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  11. This weekend one of our guys lent his FF2 out. While the other guy was ratcheting down the chincup the webbing strap broke. What I mean is that the grommet pulled through the doubled over webbing. It is a realtively new FF2 so wear and tear shouldn't have been such a issue. So it is possible that the force of the riser strike pulled and tore the webbing, taking the whole thing off with not a massive amount of effort. Food for thougth????? 12. I do realise that new things do experience problems. And would expect that to be a low ratio of units in the field. But 100% (at our DZ) is a little too much. I bought a pro-track just after they ame out and in over 600 jumps have had zero problems. In all cases the owners have contacted the manufacturer, sent units back etc...... But if it came down to a choice it would be Pro-Track. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  13. Not made up. 7 neptunes on the DZ, each one has malfunctioned, broken or been unable to update. Make your own choice... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  14. And that was my whole point. A combination of all the angles gives a better product for the customer. Its a question of substance over cost. The DZO's who only consider handcam are selling their DZ short........imho. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  15. To be honest most I have seen is shitty, and I have seen lots...... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  16. I dont suppose its also because handcam is cheaper and the sales pitch is geared towards it? People who are new to anything can be generally steered into a direction by someone they consider to be "professional". Therefore giving a larger uptake of the cheaper, imho substandard, video option. I did an experiment, in a scientifically controlled environment, and can definatley say that 3 out of 4 of my cats preferred the outside video..... But my "opinion" still stands that handcam footage in freefall SUCKS. Bryn .....and if you want to patronise me some more you may want to "think" about patting me on the head.... Journey not destination.....
  17. I was meaning the Tandem students reaction after opening........ and I bet you dont get that shot on every tandem So, back to the tread, why not combine all the "best" footage??? Bryn Journey not destination.....
  18. I am sorry but handcam in freefall just plain sucks. Remember the video isnt just for the tandem student. It is passed round friends and family. I can say that if you showed a video of inside and outside video to a family audience, the one with the "WOW" factor is definately outside. So DZO's who want to play the numbers game think about this. If more people are excited by outside video and this generates more "passengers" than handcam, which is the better option??? Admittedly outside video misses the opening, but surely some compromise can be reached. Sell the video to the camera guys so they can incorporate it into their video. That way the customer will have a better product, be more pleased, tell more people, generate more income and bingo!!!! everyone wins. Just a thought. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  19. Or quadraplegic, depending where your from... http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=DVXA,DVXA:2005-20,DVXA:en&q=quadraplegic BTW Pedant is spelled P-E-D-A-N-T Pronunciation: 'pe-dant Function: noun Etymology: Middle French, from Italian pedante 1 obsolete : a male schoolteacher 2 a : one who makes a show of knowledge b : one who is unimaginative or who unduly emphasizes minutiae in the presentation or use of knowledge c : a formalist or precisionist in teaching Maybe she just wanted some advice not just a smartass "it is spelled" and "do a search".....but maybe that's just me Bryn Journey not destination.....
  20. Try Paul at www.dirtdive.net I am sure he has some packing tools in the "shop", if not email him and see what he can do. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  21. How about 3 in the last 6 weeks, and one them a double mal!!!!! My students knew about 2 but the other one I just dealt with and he never knew the difference.... Given the low take up and progression of tandem students (here in the UK) I dont know whether the reserve rides were are factor in them not coming back. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  22. If memory serves then......no. I think it is 6.5 plus, but give it a go and see what happens. Saying that though I found the easy way is as described by skymonkeyone. Lay the trailer on disc and then manual edit the rest. I do all my fades on camera and the final edit is only to lay the music on. Quick and easy. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  23. Panasonic WJ-AVE 5 or 7 Datavideo SE-200 or SE-500 The panasonic is easy to use but difficult to get hold of. Ebay should be a good place to look. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21166&item=7522854609&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Quick note about premiere (depending on version) it has real time preview, so no need to render. Just have the camcorder switched onto VCR mode and press play on the timeline and it should play out and be recordable by your camera. (like I said depending on version.) 24. British insults are usually more subtle than "your a fucking knob jockey".... My personal favourite is sarcasm, which seems to escape the majority of "septics". Take for example me talking to a woman in a bar in SoCal. Conversation turns to weather (not that there is any to speak of there). She asked me when the summer was in the UK. I said "well its one wednesday in August..." "Geeeeez your forecasters are good" says she.. "Not that good" says I "they couldnt say which wednesday"... The blank expression on her face indicated I had scored another home run. I had to stop being sarcastic as it was far too easy and could derive no pleasure from it.... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  25. Are you sure about that? Sure its not a 270? Bryn Journey not destination.....
