  1. 1. I used to be a magistrate (judge in the US) 2. I was once voted "longest tongue in NATO" Bryn Journey not destination.....
  2. I disconnect, loosen and reconnect for another reason, apart from the ones already stated. On one of my early tandems (laterals disconnected) had an horrendous landing, which catapulted me over the shoulders of the passenger using my head as a pivot point. (told you it was bad) A Tandem IE saw what happened and said that if I had my laterals connected I wouldn't have gone over so far. Which makes sense. Since that day I have always reconnected the laterals. I havent had a landing as bad as that again, but was close once (Long legged student deciding to land legs down on a nil wind day!!). In that case I could feel the laterals stop me pitching up and over. Worked for me and reinforced the reason why I reconnect. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  3. I am interested in seeing how people have top mounted the following: Canon 10D Sony PC 120 I already have a TRV 30 ( which is to be swapped for the PC 120) on the top plate and the camera under the front extended plate. However, following a recent accident I want to move everything, as centrally as possible to the top. I would appreciate pictures if possible. I have plenty of time to work on this...........possibly the next 6 months Cheers Bryn Journey not destination.....
  4. Sure I'll get a copy to you but it may take a day or so because the file is on my home PC in the UK and I am in New Zealand!!!! Its a rough guide, more like lecture notes but it gives an overall overview of the seminar. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  5. Yep, It is so good that it could help save lives, costs pennies to make, has multiple applications and would sell by the millions. Why haven't I done anything about it? Don't know where to start and don't have the money to do it. If I told you what it is I would have to kill you Bryn Journey not destination.....
  6. My pro-dytter came with a mount and 2 zip ties for both sides of the mount. So did mine, especially noticeable when it went past my face at 5000ft as the riser took it off. Oh, same thing at 2500ft when the front of my camera was taken off. If there is a better place to put it, which reduces the likelyhood of snagging or losing, then use it. Why do you think we switched to internal pockets for audibles? Think about it and listen to the advice. Just cos it hasn't happened doesn't mean it wont......... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  7. Me me me me!!! is it me? Aren't they great, especially when you can get a 6ft 4" man stuck in one when doing tandems. They are what I call "skydiving at the coalface" aircraft. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  8. A friend of mine bought his wife a widescreen TV and VCR. She was ecstatic that he was so generous............ until he said "There we go I have made the first months payment and all you have to do is carry on...." They are divorced now, I wonder why? He also bought her a 4ft Christmas Cracker the year before. And who says men cant do Christmas gifts??? Bryn Journey not destination.....
  9. Similar sort of thing happened to me last weekend. I jump an Omni 139 in a wings container. After dispatching a load of students I got out about 3500ft. Waited a couple of seconds and pitched the PC. I was expecting it to be slower than normal, but at the "normal" time nothing had happened. I looked up and had a perfect PC - Bag- lines configuration and not a lot happening. By this time I was near vertical. I grabbed my risers and gave them a hard shake and.............. bingo, out comes the main and everything was hunkey dorey. I and a couple of the other jumpers have noticed very slow deployments with our Wings PC's. (of which there has been a thread) Everything turned out OK, but it will be on mind the next H&P. 10. OK, did the seminar last friday night. Had around 15 attendees ranging from 3 jumps to 1500. Made a rough guide on what to say. Broke it down into three sections, You, equipment and the flow of a camera jump. Spent 2 1/2 hours and still could have gone on. I received very positive feedback and plan a similar seminar in the spring with more focussed seminars, concentrating on specifics, later All in all it was a very positive experience for me and those who came along. Thanks for all the input from the group it is very much appreciated. Bryn Journey not destination.....

  13. I say this to all my students on the first freefall. "You have shown that you have the skills to be there, otherwise I wouldn't let you go. Relax, practice loads beforehand and you have plenty of time and altitude." See you at the DZ and if you have any worries give me a shout and I'll go through them for however long you need. Bryn Mines a Melon Bacardi Breeezer thanks Journey not destination.....
  14. 1200:1 Broken lines on tandem, not landable after control checks None on own equipment over Bryn Journey not destination.....
  15. This has been a thought but trying to arrange the people in one place over a series of dates is nigh on impossible (lot of university types etc.) I will see how this one goes and then try and cover the subjects with more depth on future occasions. Thanks for all the input people have given. it is greatly appreciated. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  16. When doing a presentation I found this picture. I have no details but looks like it predates the other photo. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  17. Never knew about the association when I took this nickname, (I was an animal welfare officer, so Skydog seemed appropriate) until a bloke at elsinore saw the name on my rig, shook hands and sniffed my ass!!!! So officially I am not a member, but do subscribe to its ethos. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  18. I am planning on doing a presentation on camera flying. Our DZ has experienced a ground swell of jumpers with around 200 jumps, who are wanting to use cameras etc. I thought it would be a good idea to give a presentation describing my experiences whilst learning (and still learning) to fly camera. I have come up with subjects from the basics of a camera set up, filming different types of jumps, SAFETY, camera settings etc. What I need is ideas for other areas to cover, remembering I will probably have a max of 2 hours to keep their attention. I have already considered running two, one basic and the other more in depth and advanced, what do you think? What I could also do with are pictures of potential problems encountered by a camera flyer. (I have lost my still of an AFF instructor pulling underneath me!!!) Any tips, photo's or video will be greatly appreciated. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  19. Damn, beat me too it Have to admit to loving this film.......... Could be worse, could love "Cutaway" Bryn Journey not destination.....
  20. Never been a problem, the elastic mouth keeps everything there and even more so with the FF handle in place. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  21. You want to be outside doing camera when you've got out 2 tandems early!!!! Journey not destination.....
  22. Its a Let 410, this one was used for aerial photography and cartography. Had a trip in the bubble and it is a bizarre experience especially landing......... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  23. I have a wings with the cordura pouch and FF handle. Here are my observations: 1. I had to change how i packed my PC because on testing (on the ground) I managed to be able not to pull it out, even with two feet on the rig!! Now I pack it very flat and have had no problems at all. 2. Sitting on the floor of the 182 and moving around made the handle come out of position. Once i knew about it prior to exit and the other I didn't. However come pull time it was in the same place and as easy to get hold of as my "normal" toggle. 3. The cordura pouch has not lost its shape or elasticity in over 200 jumps. 4. Dont get a light coloured pouch as it is more difficult to clean than spandex. All in all I am very happy with the options I chose and would do the same again without hesitation. Bryn Journey not destination.....
