  2. I have the same set up and use: AF Shutter priority Partial metering Multi-shot This is a shot using these settings: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Personal_Galleries/skydog&image=Tom-Picton.jpg&img=&tt= Seems to work fine for me. The only real difference is the FPS rate slows to about 3fps when using auto focus. I have used AF and MF and to be honest have no problem with either, but do prefer AF. 3. AFAIK Its all genuine, run by a UK guy called Eddie Carroll. All reports are its a great place to jump for students and experienced jumpers alike. Unlike some other Las Vegas DZ's........ Bryn Journey not destination.....

  16. Sorry but that's plain bollox. Its like saying everyone can be taught and understand quantum mechanics. If that were the case everyone would be eligible to go to university, which isnt the case. That's because there are people out there who just dont "get" it. The people I binned didnt get their EP's, even after more instruction from other instructors. So your saying we should bring in other instructors, from wherever, until they "may" eventually "get" it? If thats the case then I must be a crap instructor. Suppose it doesnt count the people who have said "if it wasnt for you I would never have jumped"? And these far outweigh the students I have binned. Instead of saying we are all crap then tell us how you would correct the problems of a student who couldn't comprehend what a malfunction was or how to carry out their EP's. 17. It all depends on how often you change tapes. Even if I give in a tape to download, the process of getting the plate on and off (I use a velbon qr 667) takes seconds. I dont use a box, and only a condom when its really cold (phnarr that sounds rude!!) and have had NO problems. Please heed the advice here and think about what use the box really is. Apart from a nice place to be hanging from your chopped main!!!! Bryn Journey not destination.....
  18. Whoa, that's a very bold statement. In all the time I have taught static line FJC's I have only ever binned 2 students, and that only after handing them over other instructors to re-assess them. I am aware that everyone does not learn in the same way and that my methods of instruction, in those cases, may not have been for them. In both cases, because they did not "get" how to and when to go through their emergency procedures, and after further instruction, I removed them from the static line FJC. Remember you can do everything right, employ all the right learning tactics, and still some people wont get it. To say it is because the instruction is wrong is in itself wrong. 19. I currently jump the 389 and absolutely love it. Have jumped BT80's, EZ, Sets, Hops and Icarus mains and to date it is my personal favourite. The openings are soft and 95% on heading. I cant reach the slider but thats not a biggie. Toggle pressure and response is far lighter than all except for the Hop and Icarus. We have both brake lines to the one toggle and am not exhausted(arm wise) after a dyas jumping. Landing is a breeze no matter the conditions. Loads of bottom end flare especially after a surge/stall approach. Even without the flare is very impressive. I am looking to buy my own tandem mains pretty soon and I know that they will be A2's. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  20. I jump from a 172 and the technique used here I have never seen elsewhere in the world. The tandem pair sit facing the prop for the ride to altitude. On exit the pair are seated in the door. I have my left arm high on the strut, my left leg on the step and my right leg dangles over the right edge of the step. On my signal the pilot gives a slight "push over" giving a bit of -G, and for a split second we are lifted up off the step. I then pivot round my left arm straight into the relative wind. It takes hardly any effort no matter the size of the student. It sounds slightly bizarre but works every time. It is by far the easiest I have done in terms of getting out of the aircraft and into the air. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  21. Sorry to hijack this thread, but...... Does anyone have an .avi of an altimeter counting down? Want to use one in a demo video. I tried to do one in stop motion but it looks all jerky and generally shit. Any help would be good. Thanks Bryn Journey not destination.....
  22. Now that is funny, and not the answer I supposed...... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  23. I did a search and came back to my post Bryn Journey not destination.....
  24. As I read the forums now it seems that the usual first reply to a question is "do a search". So my question is simple: Will the forums become redundant when every question has been answered before? and if so when? Bryn Journey not destination.....
  25. If there is a warrant out that means they didnt show up for the hearing. As a former magistrate I would look on the failure to attend as very serious. Therefore I can only conclude that this matter didn't occur recently and that your "FRIEND" had plenty of time to deal with it before the warrant was issued. Do you know if its a warrant with or without bail? Either way, my advice is go to a solicitor, not get responses from here, see whats happening and deal with it. These warrants dont just go away, and leaving the country knowing there is a warrant would only make matters worse. Is the friend worried about a possible prison sentance? As I know that in our court that driving whilst disqualified usually merited a custodial sentance. Knowing the court process, I would say it would be a fair while from answering the warrant, setting a court date, the hearing and pleas to reports and sentancing. Taking it way past christmas. As I said before its not going to go away, but if its not addressed asap your "friend" might. Bryn Journey not destination.....
