  1. If it upsets you that much then why not name names? Reading DZ.com I also suspect this may be a long running dispute with the former AFF school that was at Lillo, and this post is a not too subtle attempt to discredit them. Or I may be wrong....... As a side note. I see on your web site that you claim to have BPA Instructors on staff, but according to your staff page, none hold any BPA Instructional ratings (FS Coach is not an Instructional rating in the sense you cannot sign anyone up according to the ops manual). So, unless you are going to do something formal about a lapsed rating and have documented proof of out of date kit, then people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. And If you are wondering who I am, well no one of any import, just someone who can sometimes read between the lines. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  2. The Chatteris Nomad is upgraded and uprated and is real quick..... Very comfortable and easy to exit, all in all a good jumpship... Journey not destination.....
  3. The DZ where I do my tandems have a great policy. You tell then what weight etc. you are willing to take, and the manifestor makes sure you dont get stuck with someone who takes you outside MFR's and you personal limits. BUT, no cant just specify, small, blonde scandinavian women..... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  4. I feel it was a mistake to send my 3 year old boy to the cupboard under the stairs to fetch a present, only to find his uncle hiding in there with a werewolf mask on........ The sight of him running up the stairs, screaming with his hair on end, confirmed I was indeed a bad Dad. But i did piss laughing, well until the therapist bill came in.... 5. Jump one, dont jump one. Make a decision and then dont blame someone else if shit happens. The blame game never comes up with a solution, just bitterness. It really is that simple. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  6. Not had a long opening on a tandem reserve, but did have a line over on one...... Managed to clear it, but sure was scary... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  7. Thats better. For filming tandems, specifically, I would always go with wings. Especially with low-ish jump numbers. The old adage dress for success is apt. Wings will give you range when you do a back to back with one tandem weighing 200lb and the next 120lbs.... For me wings is the way to go, just have to learn to fly them..... 8. Unless your profile jump numbers are wrong...you shouldn't be filming anything in the UK until you have 200 jumps. And to be honest with that many jumps I wouldn't let you practice on me. Headcorn have recently been disciplined for breaches of the BPA ops manual. Lets hope you haven't added to their recent woes. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  9. and one of my favourites.... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  10. Took about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. I am like you havin the whole arm turned into a sleeve. Just had the "gaps" filled with big cherry blossoms, which need colouring, and then smoky effect for all the rest of the gaps. Plan on having some Maori leg work done whilst back in NZ but havent made my mind up whether to go for traditional tattooing or machine.... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  11. Because the panther on the other side knocked it out.... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  12. A fad that has been around since caveman times.. These replies always make me laugh. I have over 25 tattoo's amd more for next week, but I never feel the urge to comment on why people DON'T have any.... Attached is one of my latest...the arm is "work in progress..." Bryn Journey not destination.....
  13. What's that supposed to mean? Getting informed of safety issues for US made (British owned) kit isn't the time for xenophobia. No wonder people hesitate to post, with replies like yours....... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  14. Hey Deuce, Shit happens and you dealt with it. I hate it when you post something and all you get is a lot of "you should'ves".... especially from those whose only qualifications come from reading these forums. If there are lessons to be learnt then I expect you have sat down and rationalised them already. Thanks for posting. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  15. If you have your camera attached whilst previewing the footage you can view and record it without rendering. I dont know about Premiere 6 but can definatley with Pro/7 and 1.5. Bryn Journey not destination.....

    epilepsy

Sorry, but not even close to a Grand Mal seizure. Never said it was the same. More an indication that erratic movement under a tandem is not a good idea. So unless you have an idea or suggestion about the question then please reply to that. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  17. Gary, Ian Marshal at Hinton jumps without them all the time. Never seems to be an issue for him..... Personally I wouldn't, whats the point~???? Bryn Journey not destination.....

    epilepsy

A while ago I would have said sure, so long as they were stable on their meds. But having watched a blind guy (I know not the same disability, but had the same erratic body movements) completely freak out, and seeing what could happen would cause me concern if the movements were involuntary. So, basically my answer would be no. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  19. He had probably just watched National Lampoons Animal House. Where Donald Sutherland explains the universe in nearly exactly the same terms. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  20. What Bosco said....... The A2 has a little extra all round in flight characteristics IMHO. Icarus canopies are great, but I really do hate seeing the canopy "boiling" around on deployment, but thats just me. I have jumped the 389 and 350. Even with big students the 389 is as easy to flare as the 365 Icarus i used to jump. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  21. I hate disagreeing with people.....but.... My landings are on a jump by jump basis. Some stand, some slide, some depending how far the catchers are away. I broke my cocyx many years ago, and am quite sensitive in that area. I have to say that any of the slide in landings I have done have not aggravated this injury. For me its all dependant on each jump how I land. I dont have any hard and fast rules saying "I will always"..... Whatevers best...... Bryn Journey not destination.....
  22. You forgot handball.....now that really does suck Journey not destination.....
  23. I had, near enough, the exact same experience. As for jumping with an RSL..... I still do as a matter of course. After thinking through the various scenarios, I am more infavour of jumping with one attached. When I was jumping strong in NZ, one place didnt have them attached (read, not on the kit) and the other it was up to the individual TM. I think it is a case of weighing up the options and deciding from there. Bryn Journey not destination.....
  24. I have a Garmin Foretrex 201, and have used it in "anger" on a couple of occasions. (ok no flaming for jumping in marginal conditons..) One time the other tandem on the lift landed 1 1/2 miles away and I landed dead centre. I use it in the goto mode, which gives direction, distance and speed. Whilst in NZ they were in common usage, with no problems. It is another weapon in the arsenal, to be used "just in case". Bryn Journey not destination.....
  25. Have fitted them both ways round and not had a problem. Bryn Journey not destination.....
