Its not easy to describe without doing it practically. I place the subject below centre in the LCD screen of my camcorder. I then sight up on the centre of the subjects face. All I can say is whenever I am videoing Tandems the results are spot on. Its a case of whatever works for you. All I know is that I used to ramp up my Hawkeye using a swivel mount, but now I use this method I dont have to. Bryn Journey not destination.....

I used a simpler solution. Adjust your ringsight the 10-15 degrees (which isn't a lot). I sight up in front of the mirror. I put the subject where I want in the frame and and then adjust the ringsight. I have a flat-top pro and it works fine for me. Saves making and bolting things on to the helmet. If you need any more info then mail me Bryn

For me it has depended on the size of canopy. Under my 150 I have had no problems, just the slight end closure, but nothing spectacular. However under the 135 ( loaded at 1.65 : 1) I have had spins so severe I had contemplated cutting it away. These have been caused by right side end cell closure with full inflation of th rest of the canopy. Having had this happen three times I was getting a bit worried :-(. I then jumped without my camera suit on and the canopy was great. All I can think is that I have been unsymmetrical at pull time, caused by having my left arm still out slightly and "tipping" me off square. It doesn't help the fact i usually have to unclip my wings before I take control, so the spinning gets really wild before I can get it sorted. ( a fact that has now been remedied) Moral of the story is be square when you come to the pull.

I have just bought this 3 chip camcorder (UK) What settings are the best? At the moment I am probably going to use the sports mode with manual focus. Anyone got any experience with this type of camera and what settings did you use? Thanks

That's exactly what I did with mine. I put an R Clip through the pin (which had a spring on the other side) connected the chin strap with the pin and Hey Presto. I also put a small lanyard which went up the side of the helmet with a tab that I could pull. It also meant that any pull in any direction would free the chin cup and chinstrap. It was very simple and snag free.

My thoughts of doing a Mr Bill after an incident at our DZ.... Sort of goes like this: 1. The two guys go off linked but start to roll on the pull. 2. The passenger gets his foot caught in the lines as they are coming out of the container. 3. Passenger falls off pulling half of the now opening canopy down. 4. Semi inflated canopy now starts to spin wildly, with passenger still entangled in the lines. Who is now hanging 5 feet below his friend. 6. The lines are now cutting into the neck of "friend" who is now in a great deal of pain and losing orientation. 7. Passenger is shouting "Don't Chop it" 8. Spin increases in ferocity, so much so they are both going horizontal. 9. Passenger is now screaming "Chop it, Chop it" 10. Friend chops main and falls onto spinning friend. Smokes it down to 2500 and deploys reserve!!! 11. Passenger is now upside down, spinning and entangled in the now chopped main. 12. He now manages to crawl up entangled leg and pull the lines from round ankle. 13. With great effort frees himself, falls and deploys main. Both land safely and with only mild injuries and great embarrassment. So how do I know that this is exactly what happened? Just to say the video is awesome......... shot from below looking up. Think I'll give it a miss and take up CReW instead, much safer.

I use a conversion program from www.exactaudiocopy.de It is a great little utility and will convert most audio file types to wav files. Bryn

Customs into the UK= 17.5% VAT 6% import duty 3% - on postage charges (not on cost of rig) Unless you know someone who may be able to bring it back for you. Or get them to put something like "repaired" on the custom label and it may slip through customs So you are looking at 23.5% on top of the price. Mind you it beats the crap out of payin £3000 for a new set. Put it this way I am buying my next set from them. Even with postage it will be less than 1/2 price.

Rob, Who are you calling a "brit camera geek"? Mind you what he said is all true, see ya in Elsinore in May Bryn "I want to die peacefully in my sleep....like my grandpa. Not kicking and screaming like the passengers in his car.."

I use Sport-RX's goggles and sunglasses for jumping in. Never had any problems and they look pretty good. They have a large range which is useful. A friend of mine didn't like his so he returned them for another pair and wasn't charged any extra !!!! All I can say is that I have had mine for two years and never had any visual problems i.e. lack of peripheral vision etc. They are definately a good alternative to wearing your glasses with a full face helmet. When the canopies are imported to the UK they attract VAT @ 17.5% plus Import Duty @ 6% plus tax on the postage and packaging (I kid you not) so whatever price you get quoted you will have to add at least 23.5% to the price. Unless you can get someone to bring back one for you. Also for you info the canopies are shipped from slovenia to the US and then exported again. Having checked you will also find that the Cobalts are matched if not cheaper than other similar canopies in the UK. And whilst the £ is strong against the $, unlike a month ago the price has been reduced. These are just some of the factors when looking at the price.

Make sure you use a paint that bonds with the surface. I painted my protec with dog paw prints all over. It looked great until I put it on and all the paint cracked and the paw prints fell off!!!

I jump with sportRX goggles, and have done for around 300 jumps. The goggles I have DO NOT affect my peripheral vision, and are very similar to those goggles worn by regular jumpers. They have stood the test and are very cheap compared to the prices in the UK. My advice is to get a pair............
