  1. 5 in 1 Camera I saw someone with this a few weeks ago and I was wondering if anyone has tried it in freefall. With such a low price, would it make an economical learner camera even if the video wasn't very good?
  2. For those of you unfamiliar the sanctity of private property rights, that you have paid for with your time and hard work, takes on an entirely different meaning when you've been threatened with this. My response was either start supplying information about the project so I can make an informed decision, make me a decent on the house instead of just offereing me the notes, or take me to court. They went away, but with this new ruling I don't know what would have happened. Prepare your escape plans, people. People figured out how to get government to use the threat of deadly force to take what you have worked for and transfer it to themselves. The republic is dying, but unfortunately there really is nowhere to emmigrate to anymore.
  3. Check the market and call some dealers to see what similar pieces are selling for. I've always thought buying gear was a bit of a toss-up on the price. You can buy much newer stuff, put some jumps on it and see if the resale is still high enough to recover most or all of what you paid. The other option is to buy some good solid older gear that's going cheap and learn on that rig, then sell it cheap. I bought a complete set of gear for $2k from a retired jumper (Javelin, main, reserve, 8 year Cypres, ditter, pro-tech, flotation vest, jumpsuit, odds and ends). Now it's older stuff and not really suited for freefly, but it was cheap and sound and I'm not scared of scrubbing it on the tarmac (which I've done several times).
  4. Have you finally gotten around to jumping that thing? Geez- I gave it to you like five weeks ago. Watch the flare on that demo- it's powerful to begin with and the steering lines are set for performance (no slack).
  5. What's wrong with just using the backpack?
  6. Instead of disabling the car and arresting the thief, how about tracking it to the chop shop and busting the whole ring?
  7. You could always do your senior project on the ram-air canopy itself. A good synopsis and technical discussion of the fluid mechanics and engineering would make a great project.
  8. Absolutely carry that baby with you, but keep it out of sight. There have been several reports of gear being tampered with during screening and made unsafe (probes shoved into reserve containers, bolt cutters on the pins, etc.). I'm 5'8" and my old Talon with a 195 Falcon squeezed into a 21" case quite nicely. You'd have to take some measurements, but the rolling cases are great if you can make use of them. The rigid sides protect your rig from overbearing handlers.
  9. Go to Target and buy a cheap 21" rolling pilot case. The rig will fit perfectly, be mobile, and will attract absolutely zero attention. Put it on the belt, keep your mouth shut, and you'll be fine. Take the chest strap and wrap it around the reserve handle a few times and thread it through the buckle. Please don't tie a rubber band or a pullup cord around the handle- more than one person has done that and actually jumped it that way. Sometimes I get someone that wants to try on my rig or something like that and I considered getting a big red 'REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT' banner to secure the handle to prevent accidents.
  10. Nice story - fun with wuffos! But seriously, stick that stuff in a suitcase next time. The public is still freaked out about airplanes and we need to keep it on the DL. If you absolutley MUST let everyone know you're a skydiver, wear a t-shirt.
  11. Sure, why not. My friends wouldn't care. Here's a Bertha for ya. #1 Nurse at the hospital in Aishalton, Guyana. Fixed up my feet after walking out of the bush after nine days. Great girl- likes puzzle books.
  12. We'd better work on our conversation skills guys- we're becoming obsolete.
  13. If you left something behind at the Boogie or found something post it here.
  14. Easy- put it in a 21" rolling pilot case (they make great gearbags and are cheaper than gearbags). Put it on the Xray belt and don't say anything. If they open your pilot case, don't say anything. IF they confront you on the issue, ask them to refer to their procedures manual. For parachutes it involves a wipe test followed by open inspection IF they get a positive. Be aware that the glycerine in hand lotion can give a false positive.
  15. I'd love to post more, but I'm spent! Tomorrow is yet another day!
  16. Let's be careful up there! Kicked in the head on breakoff from a big-way.
  17. One of the highlights will be the destruction of Bolas' car! We gave it a good base coat, graffiti all to hell, and will be auctioning off the priveledge of driving it with no oil or coolant till it dies! The graffitied it so much you can't see out the windows! We could sell off slots in the Casa to push it out the back, but Dublin ,ight not like us anymore.
  18. That settles it- I need a new number. I told youze to leave me alone!
  19. 192 registered jumpers Friday night. I didn't get too many pictures during the day because the weather broke and we were busy jumping! Heh heh heh.
  20. Go South, Turn East along the way and follow the trail of empty beer bottles.
  21. 65 at the airport and more at the hotels! Heh heh- registration starts at 0800! Yippee!
  22. 1 possibly two CASAs (strong possibility on two), caravan, porter, balloon, chopper. $25 registration, prices check roamingdz.com from Atlanta go either 75 to Macon to I-16. exit at Dublin (route 441?) and pick up 80 West in town. Airport road is past the Pizza Hut. Alternative if traffic is heavy- go 20 East to 441 South (Madison/Eaton). Through Milledgeville to Dublin. Pick up 80 West. Call for hotels or check internet. Best Western is full and I believe overflow is going to the Comfort Inn. The liquor store is just past the airport. What convenience!
